Whoa, Pelican sounds more like post rock than metal.

Edit: Oh, they sound metal in this other song.

Fucking experimental bands all fucking with the... fuck.

trying to memorize 13 songs in 3 days is a friggin chore.

I got about 4 of em down solid, and can BS another 6 of em. If they give me sh!t tonight at band practice, ima tell em to FU*K OFF

so how is everyone?

blue3 01-24-2006 07:40 AM

Haha.. 13 songs is a lot though.

What songs are they? Whats the name of your band?

yea, i wouldnt say its OVERWHELMING, considering the simplicity of some of the songs, but it just blows because 1/2 of them I haven't heard for YEARS, and the other 1/2 i've never even heard before.

I figure I'll just bull sh!t the parts I dont remember or whatever

edit :

1. Audio Slave - What you are
2. Green Day - Holiday
3. Metallica - Bell Tolls
4. Lit - My own Worst Enemy
5. Weezer - Undone
6. Sabbath - Paranoid (more like the Megadeth version)
7. Whitestipes - Seven Nation Army
8. Shinedown - Save me
9. Smashing Pumpkins - Zero
10. Manson - Beautiful People
11. Chains - We Die Young
12. Rage - Killing in the name of
13. Trapt - Still Frame

im not sure what the name of the band is. I just joined Saturday

They are the four you can play solidly. amirite.

EDIT: BTW interesting fact-Daniel Erlandsson (arch enemys drummer) is brothers with Adrian Erlandsson (Cradle Of Filths drummer). I thought it was cool cause i like both bands ALOT.

kurrpt 01-24-2006 08:17 AM

no, not at all, but thanks for the cofindence

the songs I have DOWN are ones I've heard before

Rage
Weezer
Sabbath

the manson song is too easy not to pick up right away

that Lit song is pretty friggin simple, but surprisingly, the Green Day song has more chords then then any 3 of those songs combined

superpeer 01-24-2006 08:19 AM

A lot of those songs are very easy to play and remember, so you might just be able to pull it off in three days.

CoF 01-24-2006 08:22 AM

I wouldnt have thought Sabbath.
A lot of those songs are very easy to play and remember, so you might just be able to pull it off in three days.
yea, i mean i can play all the parts and what not...

its remember the changes that really hurts me. If I were familiar with the songs previously, it would be a walk in the park.

I had em on repeat for a while to get semi-acquainted with em, but i realize it will take about a week

edit: that Sabbath solo is easy as hell too man. I elaborate a bit more, cause i hate the feel on HIS version

superpeer 01-24-2006 08:24 AM

Yeah, that sabbath song is very simplistic, bar the solo, which I haven't really tried, so I can't really say.

NP: Joy Division - Twenty Four Hours

well, the first audition/practice, i worked on the solo for maybe 10 minutes prior.

I fudged it for the other rhythm player. I realized i butchered it, but all he said was "yea, thats it, except for the one part it ...."

I then learned, that I am able to fool everyone easier then myself, which is a good thing i guess. Its better to be harder on yourself to get it to sound perfect, rather then someone else needing to keep ya in line

Toaster 01-24-2006 08:43 AM

Or maybe he realized you butchered it, but didn't know you well enough to say "wow, that sucked".

Yeah same here, when I get to know girls, I get really talkative and pally. The way I talk to them is the same as I talk to some of my mates, I.E. I'll lightly insult them, and my self of course.

But yeah, I have to try and keep it a bit low at times. :p

Just got back from Japanese history class. It'll take some time to understand the professor's accent, but he's a pretty cool guy nonetheless. Toward the end of class, he told us some rather interesting stories about the culture shock he and his family went through when they first moved to America in the 60's.

The most amusing was probably when they went to a hardware store looking for sponges, but didn't know what to call them, so they ended up describing them as "rubbers."

Japanese people, in my experience, are all strangely friendly and funny.:p

My problem isn't so much being pally... It's more that a lot of people these days are still too uptight in public to realize that other people's pain is funny. I have a rather black sense of humor seasoned with a hefty dose of sarcasm. And while I've got a pretty quick wit, I tend to lose track of moderation and lay it on pretty thick. I have to keep checking myself to see that I don't ramble about some joke that essentially boils down to "blood is funny."

Communication. Closest I could get to a film major.

If that's true, then I'm pretty sure me and you would be friends in real life. My sense of humour is obscure, I can laugh at some things that aren't funny, but when it comes down to it, life is for living, and maybe insulting someone else because of their actions could be viewed as wrong by some people, but I'm not gonna stop doing it. :p

Doctor Night 01-24-2006 10:34 AM

Ooh I can't get over how cold it is, my fingers don't move properly.

Jev 01-24-2006 10:36 AM

I wish I wasn't ill. Then I could go play in the cold.

It's weird actually. Me, my sisters and my mate were all sick today. We've also all had swimming at school during the past week.

Shattered_Future 01-24-2006 10:36 AM

Yeah, we'd probably be friends. A lot of my friends in real life have pretty unusual senses of humor as well. One guy just says the most vulgar things he can think of until people laugh.

Recently at a party he met a guy through one of his friends who said "There's nothing anybody can say that I coudln't come up with a response to."

Taking that as a personal challenge, my friend walks up to the guy, puts his arm around his shoulders and says, "You know what, bro? I once fucked a donkey for a nickle." He then winked, clicked his tongue, and walked off.

The guy just stood there in silence for a moment and finally said, "Okay, you got me on that one."

GenuineImitation 01-24-2006 10:38 AM

I just found out I owe the library 90 dollars in late fees.

Some of my friends are like that, we recorded over 30 minutes worth of audio from my friends and I making up songs about a boy in our school.

"Hey Alan, you're so fine, you're so fine you blow my mind..HEY ALAN"

"Alan will..Alan will..Rock You!"

One of the guys in our movie played an obnoxious roommate. He improvved a bunch of lyrics for us for a couple scenes. For the first scene with that, he said "Give me a topic."

I picked a random word off the top of my head. "Soup."

On the spot, he made up a two-chord, three-minute long song about a telephone conversation with a girl in Japan and eating soup with chopsticks.

When he improvved the ending credits music, he just sang out a recap of the movie in the goofiest way he could. Our music guy just put together a four-bar rhythm combo and layered it under the singing because that was the only way he could possibly work with it, it was so out of time.
