Anyone here know any latin?

Check my grammar

Casus de Hominis

Idea for a band name but it would be very embarassing to use it and then find out it's wrong.

The idea is for it to say The Fall of Man
I think that sentence says Falls with Men.

Don't take just my word for it, but I think The Fall of Man is simply Casum Homini.

Its been a horribly long time since I did Latin...

Man needs to be genitive singular...
which is indeed Homini I think

I'd get someone else to make sure before you actually use it ff
Ugh, school in 20 minutes:(
I only went to 1 of my 3 classes today.
the most I ever have in a day is 3 classes.
The only thing that sucks about my school is I hafta get up in the mornings twice a week :p

And thanks for the black mages song :thumb:

Bartender 01-06-2005 09:04 AM

I'm not looking forward to going back to University. We get a new timetable, and since my last one was so cool, I've got a nasty feeling that this one's going to be horrible.

munky_magik 01-06-2005 09:19 AM

well, you could console yourself with the fact that you're at least at uni and not stuck in high school anymore.
Alternatively you could lock yourself in your room and develop your Wildhearts obsession to an alarming degree :)

Burdcheese 01-06-2005 09:30 AM
why/when were you learning latin?
when: Up to GCSEs

why: Because I was quite good at it and had cool teachers for it (believe it or not)

munky_magik 01-06-2005 09:37 AM
when: Up to GCSEs

oh, I didn't realise that they still thaught(sp?) it in schools :p

Burdcheese 01-06-2005 09:39 AM

Only in some - I probably shouldn't have done it up to GCSE, but I can't remember what I would have had to do instead.

I also did greek for about a fortnight, but we had "creative differences" :p

The Aeneid bored me to tears

jpj 01-06-2005 09:40 AM

My school used to have Latin and Japanese, but the county is too poor so now we only have French and Spanish :(

Burdcheese 01-06-2005 09:42 AM

I would have liked to have learned Japanese or to have had Italian as a standard GCSE subject (the only one we could do normally was Spanish)

munky_magik 01-06-2005 09:44 AM

my school only does German and French. And barely them at that :(

Burdcheese 01-06-2005 09:48 AM

actually we had German as well... I forgot about that

Arucard 01-06-2005 10:24 AM

Does anyone know how to re-size avatars?

munky_magik 01-06-2005 10:27 AM

I just shrink mine in MS paint untill it fits into a 70x70 canvas.

Arucard 01-06-2005 10:30 AM

Yeh but it cuts off the most important parts.

munky_magik 01-06-2005 10:33 AM

I do a complicated/weird thing. Start with it the size that it is, then shrink it and then change the canvas to 70x70 and see how it's doing for size. If it's not ok I undo the canvas re-sizing and shrink the pic down/up further as required until it fits well in the 70x70 canvas.

Arucard 01-06-2005 10:36 AM

Meh, ill do it some other time. I just want this Iced Earth avatar.

Dancin' Man 01-06-2005 10:37 AM

Snowday. Cool. Now I need to go write a research paper.

I took Latin at GCSE too, but I think our school's discontinued it now. I enjoyed it though.

munky_magik 01-06-2005 10:39 AM

I now realise that it's spelt taught...

Arucard 01-06-2005 10:41 AM

I am such a Power Metal whore at the minute.

Counter Strike Source > Power Metal > Coke > All.

Me too - until the set texts:

"Then Aeneus saw or thought he saw, as a traveller sees or things they see the moon on a fog-filled night, dido walking through the melancholy myrtle trees"

This is real stuff btw* :thumb:

*if badly remembered

I was really into source when it came out, but something happened to it... and it just stopped being fun

My set texts weren't too bad, just Orpheus and Eurydice and Echo and Narcissus, I think.

Arucard 01-06-2005 10:48 AM

munky_magik 01-06-2005 10:52 AM
Can you guys name a Stratavarious album i should get?
I've never really got into them, the best thing about them IMO is that they're Finnish
