It's been running smooth for me. It's probably because it doesn't like you, and I can't blame it.
ur ghey

Anyways, after you oil a guitar neck, are you suppost to
A) Go over it with a dry, clean cloth or
B) Go over it with a clean, wet cloth?

Shattered_Future 02-17-2006 09:29 PM

Dry. Wet will warp the wood...

Darkness 02-17-2006 09:30 PM

Ok, thanks. Thats actually what I did right after, but I just wanted to make sure... :thumb:
In regards to the satanism discussion: It's interesting to note that Black Sabbath, one of the most 'evil', dark, heavy bands of all time, the Godfathers of heavy metal, were practically a Christian band. So things are not what they seem
They're not really a Christian band...the songs After Forever and Lord of This World and Into the Void have a pretty Christian slant to them but most other Sabbath references to religion are along the lines of "Don't need it/want it, etc."

Perhaps they briefly converted while making the Master of Reality album?

But yeah, to call Sabbath or Opeth Satanic is really dumb.

Stormrider 02-18-2006 07:38 AM
Is mx being kinda wierd for anyone else... the top banner is gone, it keeps taking me to this.. parent directory thing..
It does that to me too. So I just get the link to R&M. Then everything works fine.

Darkness 02-18-2006 10:33 AM

It's working fine now, but the top banner is still gone...

Kaiwaz 02-18-2006 10:57 AM

Mine's gone too, :chug:

vashts80 02-18-2006 01:01 PM

That thread on the christian forum ftw.

Stoo 02-18-2006 01:06 PM

Seriously what does "ftw" mean?

Stormrider 02-18-2006 01:08 PM

For The Win.

Stoo 02-18-2006 01:19 PM

For the win. Wow.

 I must join them, their ingorance is intriguing.

TojesDolan 02-18-2006 02:48 PM

Almost all ethnic/religious groups are rather close-minded.

That's why I try to be a regular human being that takes advantage of all philosophies. Like science. and Jesus. and the d3v1L!!

Meatshield 02-18-2006 03:40 PM

I have a question - does Mikael use a mouthharp in windowpane, or is that some other instrument?

Sorry if this was already answered in this thread, i can't look through so many pages.

TojesDolan 02-18-2006 04:19 PM

I don't think so... Any part in particular?

However, Steve Wilson is known for his frecquent use of vocal arrangements and several tools to make them sound... different. But I truly have no idea.

Scuba_Steve 02-18-2006 04:31 PM

I just got ghost reveries today, and I tihnk it is probably my favorite opeth album so far.

Also, in defence of that christian thing, only one person mentioned that opeth was satantic, and everyone else in the thread pretty much owned him.

Meatshield 02-18-2006 04:32 PM

I watched the lamentation dvd, i saw him playing something with his mouth(and his mouth alone). And that was the only sound in that sound that's not guitar, drums, or bass.

Darkness 02-18-2006 04:40 PM

Maybe you were hearing the keyboards?

Meatshield 02-18-2006 04:57 PM

maybe, yeah.
I have a question - does Mikael use a mouthharp in windowpane, or is that some other instrument?
No. You were probably hearing something else while he had his pick in his mouth.

Seed Awakening 02-18-2006 06:51 PM

Doubt it. Nothing like that listened in the credits for Damnation, could be wrong though.

Kaiwaz 02-18-2006 06:57 PM

If he did, it'd be pretty noticeable. Welcome to the forums! :)

I don't think so, I mean they're pretty Christian throughout their career. Their title song, for example, may portray a dark, scary figure, but Ozzy is saying he's scared of it, in fact, and is basically asking God to help him "OOOH NOO LORD PLEASE HELP ME". Still, it is a pretty damn dark song. I could see hardcore Christians thinking it was some sort of Satanist thing. Plus, The Wizard could not be about some Tolkien character but it sounds like some sort of Jesus figure, perhaps? He seems to be magical, walking around healing and making people happy, the song says.

Seed Awakening 02-18-2006 07:05 PM

My buddy once told me that Sabbath wrote some christian lyrics, specifically on the Master of Reality album, under the influence of their manager because he wanted the group to downplay their satanic image, I don't think this is true but who knows.

ok lateralus 02-18-2006 07:08 PM

Woah, if they did it just because their manager said so that would be lame.

Seed Awakening 02-18-2006 07:12 PM

Agreed. But I wouldn't take it seriously, my buddies a bit of a moron

Seed Awakening 02-18-2006 07:23 PM

We should get back to something Opeth related. Has anybody heard any news about the Akerfeldt/Wilson project?

Darkness 02-18-2006 07:26 PM

^Wasn't Portnoy going to be involved in that? I know that kinda seems unlikly, but Mikeal does thank him the GR booklet.

Seed Awakening 02-18-2006 07:31 PM

I think so, but I don't think there's been anything official released.

Shattered_Future 02-18-2006 09:28 PM

Man, Opeth keeps changing their setlist now? I heard they took out Demon Of The Fall now.

MidnightRider 02-18-2006 09:29 PM

Damn, an Akerfeldt/Wilson/Portnoy project would be insane. I doubt it will ever happen.

Kaiwaz 02-18-2006 09:35 PM

Yeah, that'd be cool. I'd rather see Akerfeldt do another Bloodbath album though. His voice is so perfect with them.

Mikael giving singing lessons. lol Sorry if its been posted

Theres another video of them giving a lesson.
Martins playing a squier. Mikaels playing a strat and Peter is playing a jackson

Mikael: We want solos too but were no jeff loomis. (laughs)

I found that pretty funny

Stormrider 02-19-2006 08:07 AM

NP Blackwater Park

Finally I'm listeing to it. I had only heard a few parts of the song but never the whole thing.

Kaiwaz 02-19-2006 11:50 AM

^^ well, what did you think?

Shattered_Future 02-19-2006 11:51 AM

Blackwater Park isn't all it's cracked up to be, I think. It drags on HORRIBLY in places.

However, the growled parts are the best on the album, which brings the song up to average.

MidnightRider 02-19-2006 11:55 AM

It took BWP a long time to grow on me, but I love it now. I don't think it drags on that bad, I never get bored with it. The growls are amazing.

Treebeard 02-19-2006 12:02 PM

Does anyone know any of the set lists that have been played so far?
