Haha, at least we're not talk about how I started doing some drumline moves while doing my hand and foot polyrhythms.
Yea thats just unfair. |
Thats another thing I love about Bonzo. The Bass-Floor-Mid tom triplets. Those things are cool once you get them going.
|
I am shocked.
Don't worry the site has saved the day. *is listening to it right now |

I hate how no one (our age anyways) but drummers have any idea what you're talking about when you start talking about stuff like polyrhythms. They all just give you a blank stare as you try to explain to them what you're working on. |

*is listening to it right now
Yes! The bass part actually gets louder at about 2:20. |
Hey now! I only played drums for a year gimme a break.
Also Ulysses>Achilles |
Ginger Baker's basses just sounded like toms period. They were dead and tuned high. Not my thing, but is cool and unique in its own right.
Did anybody notice that the bass drum changes sound after that double bass lick in White Room? Also, the live version has a much longer outro. if you watch Cream's Finale Concert, it shows Clapton going on with the solo for like 3 minutes :D |

Yea but I guess guitarists, or anything other musician, could talk about certain technical stuff that we wouldn't understand. |

I am such a fan of his quick triplet fills, ever since I learned them they've been a favourite of mine. |

Ya, I'm pretty knowledgable about music theory though. I just wish i had someone to explain stuff to when something cool comes along. |

Jack Bruce looks like he is playing the lead guitar solo sometimes because he is all over the neck. |

Yea the work well in fills, and other times I just like to start them slow and speed up and keep them going for awhile. It's just fun. |
Crossroads live on wheels of fire is awesome.

People should be able to figure out polyrythms though. Poly=many. |
I'd rather listen to Bruce doing the bass line during a solo, then listening to the actual solo. But that's just me.

I always find my self playing rf,rh,lh,lf as fast as I can when i'm away from a kit. |

One of the best guitar solos ever. |
People should be able to figure out polyrythms though. Poly=many.
ya, but they don't usually. meh. |
Seeing clapton live was amazing, what a musician, and what musicians he was with.
|

Because his Bass lines could be the lead instrument at any given time, he's so good. |
Ya, I love jack's bass lines.
|
What's weird is even if it was just a mediocre bassist I'd rather listen to it. For some reason guitar solos don't interest me.

I think it's because guitar solos have become such a standard part of most rock songs, that its hard to find the good ones. A lot of them become unoriginal and generic. |
I'm watching a Wooten video now. It's so awesome. One day I hope to tap on a fretless such as he.

Ya I like them, but every song is too much if you ask me. |
Guitar solos are cool, but nothing beats bass licks and solos......or best of all drum solos (after all, that's my instrument)

Inna gadda daveda has alot of solos. |

Do What You Like - Blind Faith has all four solos (Guitar, Bass, Keyboards, Drums.) Unfortunately Rick Grech cannont compare at all with Jack Bruce and his bass solo is definitely lacking. |

I kind of like it because it was Ginger's style and it worked for him. |
Pink Floyd (My #1!)
Led Zeppelin Van Morrison Van Halen The Doors The Beatles Stevie Ray Vaughn Jimi Hendrix Jethro Tull Kansas |
Ya I like them, but every song is too much if you ask me.
Heh, then everyone asks 'Wheres the solo?!' DVG. |
A guitar solo doesn't make the song. It just adds to it. Every song should have some sort of guitar solo, no matter how good it already is.
|
Sorry, even though this is a few pages ago, The Vh1 thing is awesome.
I'm listening to the Jam Rock thing. It's so great. Edit: Was that just bob dylan and the Grateful Dead I just heard? |
I just learned all of "Casey Jones" on guitar.
|
That and Shakedown Street are the only Grateful Dead songs I like. And the Jam Rock Station on Vh1 is the greatest.
|
You haven't hear enough.
|
I've heard American Beauty, Working Man's Dead, Shakedown Street, and some of Europe '72.
|
I stick by my previous comment.
|
Is the Jam Station really all that great?
