It's 2:10 here in Michigan.

:amaze:

Foxfire 09-18-2004 12:13 PM

1:10 here.

I justput strap locks onto my Conklin. Fixed the strap pin problem right away. :D Now I need to look into a new amp and preamp...

Hello MX!

Foxfire 09-18-2004 12:17 PM

Hey Wintermute. :) What's up?

Wintermute 09-18-2004 12:22 PM

Not all that much, really. Spent a while at work today, but now I'm back a-grooving and a-surfing like I do most nights.

You?

You know, soon won't have to bother looking for threads that need closing - I can just search for ones where you've mentioned my name!

Foxfire 09-18-2004 12:41 PM

Haha! :p

I'm playing my Conklin and I'm really intrigued by JPBass's wiring in his custom bass. It's so awesome. I played a Musicman Sterling the other day and loved the series/parallel.

Wintermute 09-18-2004 12:48 PM

Everyone on this board has much better kit than me!

Well, I'll just smirk at you all over the net, which I'm browsing on my brand new laptop.

Foxfire 09-18-2004 12:50 PM

I bet my amp sucks more than yours!!!

Conklin GT-7 through a 10 watt with a 6" speaker is a no-no.

Lapatop. My brother wants one. :p

FREAKofNATURE 09-18-2004 12:51 PM

is that your only amp?

Foxfire 09-18-2004 12:53 PM

Yes. It's horrible!

Next purchase is a 180+ watt amp. :p HOPEFULLY a Roland DB-500.

FREAKofNATURE 09-18-2004 12:54 PM

o man i feel sorry for you. i had to go for about a year with a 10 watt amp and i hated it.

Wintermute 09-18-2004 12:55 PM

Hah! At least I have a good amp. *sneers at Foxfire*

I may be playing a Vintage-brand MusicMan Replica (basically an OLP MusicMan) but at least it's coming through a 12" Carlsbro Bassine 120W.

Foxfire 09-18-2004 12:59 PM

^ :p Next month = new amp. Yaaaaaaaaaay. :p

I'm talking with the Guitar Lab guy about doing some custom wiring on my Conklin. o_O

Jamie 09-18-2004 01:06 PM

woah!! page 99!!!! winter, i think you should close it on 100.

so, whats every body been doing today?

I got in a fight with a drunk... my old drummer. it was really funny! he was swinging at me and stuff and i was just stepping back every time he swung. I was reeeeeeaally tempted to just lay into him (i hate him) but i used my little self control and told myself it aint fair to fight a drunk when im sober... I may just kick his *** at school instead :D

Quite a good day, someone had a giant cigar which was about 1 inch and a half wide and about 15 inches long :D It was brilliant (even though i dont smoke)

well, thats my day!

oh, and ive started playing guitar alot more and im VERY P!SSED OFF WITH B&Q!!! (a diy shop)

so i defretted my bass, did a real nice job on it and i put the first coat of laquer on it (polyuratahne, gloss, walnut colour). It said takes 16-24 hours to dry. a day later, oh, its still sticky, ill leave it another day. next day, hmmm... still sticky? ill leave it another day. Its now a weeks and a half later and its still as sticky as after 2 days... I think it was faulty laquer so im going to ring B&Q up and ask them about it. If it turns out they have ryined my neck im getting some god d,amn compensation of those ****,ers.

*is angry now*

later

foxfire: ohhhhh, what custom wiring?

I like that guy, i had a conversation with him about pickups and how he thinks bartolinnis are really over-rated.

nice guy

Foxfire 09-18-2004 01:08 PM

No closing at 100! We're aiming for the top. Plus new Casual threads start on Mondays, yes?

Jamie 09-18-2004 01:10 PM

so what wiring you getting done?

Well I've been thinking about a few things. At the moment my bass has:
Some Bartolini active pickups and preamp
Volume
Pickup balancer
Treble
Bass

What I want (this is partially inspired by JP and partially inspired by Curbow):
*Aguilar OBP-3 Preamp
*Concentric Volume (so I can have a knob for each pickup without needing more space)
*Treble
*Concentric Mid (High-mid and Low-mid)
*Bass
*Resonance
*Series/Normal/Parallel switch for EACH pick-up (that's two)
*Active/Passive push/pull switch

JP also has a "Frequency" knob...any insight into this? I did not take the Resonance idea from him; I have resonance on my crappy 10 watt. :p

That'll be quite a setup if you pull it off.

Jamie 09-18-2004 01:22 PM

you got a quote on the cost of that yet? thats gunna be an expensive job though!

you get that done and you have a bass for life (even though your conklin is already for life...)

and the seizures? so sue me!

(please dont)

Foxfire 09-18-2004 01:25 PM

Yeah I'm thinking it'll cost around 500+. In all honesty, though, I was considering getting another Conklin and defretting it; this gives me more tonal possibilites and will last forever.

If I have around 800 I was considering getting a Piezo too. Ahahaha.

I sent him asking for a quote about half an hour ago. When I get it I'll tell you.. The thing is, I was going to change the preamp anyways. The Bartolini preamp they have is REALLY noisy. :(

Jamie 09-18-2004 01:29 PM

bartolini to an aguilar? mmmmm.....

kool man, yeah they took 2 days to get back with my quote for my dream bass, it would only cost something like £1500!

the news about ioplayobass is sad :(

im sitting here eating a giant box of gummy bears :D:D:D

any got any idea about my laquer problem?

Foxfire 09-18-2004 01:32 PM

No. :( I'm not good with stuff like that. (that=laquer)

peeted 09-18-2004 01:33 PM

.....i just ate a plate of pasta, a king size bombay bad boy pot noodle, a cheese tostie, 2 minie roles, 2 alpine bars and a bakewel tart........i feel very sick

Jamie 09-18-2004 01:38 PM
