Gice, should I go to this?
Jarboe (USA) (experimental vocalist) Secrets Of The Moon (DE) (psychedelic black metal) Esoteric (UK) (esoteric) Bunkur (ultra doom)
If the price was reasonable, I'd definitely go. |
If the price was reasonable, I'd definitely go.
13 euros. Which is quite cheap for such a gig in this area. |
No questions then dude, go for it.

I like doom allot
electric wizard goatsnake sleep revered bizzare weedeater and more I was on Myspace yesterday and I found pretty nice Icelandic Doom band http://www.myspace.com/volvaband:naughty: |
He lives!
Just about. did I miss anything?
That band is kickass.
They really are! Although, having said that, the album clips aren't of the same quality but I'll have to wait to hear it all before I can make a full judgement. I'm also highly enjoying this band http://www.myspace.com/ritualsoftheoak |
Just about. did I miss anything?
An email from me. :p
I'm also highly enjoying this band http://www.myspace.com/ritualsoftheoak
Wow!! I'm surprised that so many 'true' doom fans like Las Cruces. There's a fair bit of southern stuff in there, that those people normally scoff at. |
An email from me. :p
Ooops. Sorry - can you resend?
Wow!!
Abso-fcuking-lutely. Check the chorus on the second song!
I'm surprised that so many 'true' doom fans like Las Cruces. There's a fair bit of southern stuff in there, that those people normally scoff at.
"true" doom fans, well I guess that's me! And although I've tried to think of a reasoned rational explanation, I can't. So here's an unreasoned, irrational explanation: They sound like they mean it. Half my issue with the "southern" sounding bands is that they sound like they're fcuking around. Las Cruces don't. And most of the time anyway they sound like the apocalypse. |

Jarboe would be worth seeing

Orange Goblin sup?

new Moss EP
pretty crushing |
My friend gave me a cd from the band Goblin ****. The band name really gave me a weird impression but the music is actually pretty good.
|
Goblin **** is a joke band, led by the dude from Pinback. Pretty cool, though.
John Blank passed away on Saturday from an overdose :( :( :( He was the bass player for The Wino Band and Unorthodox. They just got back from the European tour and he was found dead on Saturday. Very, very sad news. He was only 34. |
Saw that. Sad. :(

While Heaven Wept update
Greetings once again to all of our friends, fans, and colleagues... After a lengthy hiatus, rehearsals have been both inspiring and extremely productive - a great deal of progress has been made on the arrangement of the previously announced brand new single, and this in turn has resulted in a surge in activity; while we will continue working on this epic for a release as soon as possible, the events which spawned the piece to begin with truly opened the floodgates - thus, the lyrics and melodies for the entire Vast Oceans Lachrymose album have now been completed, so being that the recording has been sitting in a "nearly finished" state for a couple years now, and many of you have been waiting very patiently (and some not so much), it has been decided that we will focus our efforts upon the completion of the album first, to be followed be said single shortly thereafter. I'm also happy to report that after a couple years demoing new instruments, amps, effects and other gear, we have finally completed the total reconfiguration of our rigs, resulting in what we feel is the "ultimate" set-up, being almost 100% handmade, in some cases utilizing our own designs. I'd like to thank Onyx Forge Guitars, Diezel Amplification, Toneczar Effects, Analogman Effects, S.I.B. Effects, Prophecy Sound Productions, Effectrode Effects, Gig Rig switching systems, Stompin Ground pedalboards, and Lava Cable among others for bringing all of this to life. Also, some of you may have heard that we've been asked to perform at the 2009 installment of the Born Too Late festival in Rochester, NY. on August 1st - let me just say that if the festival happens as planned, we will definitely be there, and we look forward to reuniting with our many friends from the previous edition as well as reconnecting with all of you who haven't stopped believing. We will update you as new information comes to light! More news to come soon... Cheers, Tom _________________________ Seriously, **** yeah. If Born Too Late is 21+, I have no clue what I'll do. |
Yeah the gay irony of being born too late to go to Born Too Late would annoy the piss out of me if I was in the situation.

Electric Horsemen may come play my radio show! I've been having trouble booking the last show of the semester, but I think they are going to come do this. |
guys which Esoteric album should I get?
|
Amazon sent me the new Candlemass - Death Magic Doom album. And it is awesome.
|
guys which Esoteric album should I get?
All of them. But if you want my fav. two, Metamorphogenesis and Subconscious Dissolution into the Continuum. |
^
Indeed, Those two are the best (for starters). The Maniacal Vale is also awesome. But maybe a bit too long for starters. Their old stuff is awesome too, although the bad production hurts it a bit. :( |
hey the2stranger did you go to that esoteric + jarboe + 2 more bands gig?
|

I've only heard Subconscious and Maniacal Vale, and I like the Maniacal Vale far more.
|
Wow, you guys are ****ing gay. But yeah, Maniacal is pretty good too, not their best though.
Why didnt you like Metamorphogenesis, Jammie? It's their best album IMO. |
it's not gay if you don't make eye contact
|
dick contact

Just don't like the overall sound. /shrug |
hey the2stranger did you go to that esoteric + jarboe + 2 more bands gig?
Not yet. The gig is on the 24th of this month, If I go I'll report back to you guys for sure. :)
The Maniacal Vale was actually the second I heard from them and I really like it. The first one I heard was Metamorphogenesis, and I didn't like it.
I loved the shift in tempo on this record. I thought it was another great step in the experimentation process of Esoteric.
The Maniacal Vale was actually the second I heard from them and I really like it. The first one I heard was Metamorphogenesis, and I didn't like it.
Metamorphogenesis is so ****ing evil, disturbing and psychotic. Definitely Esoteric's best in my book. |

Full new song and a new version of a demo song up now. Holy **** amazing. |
New SunnO))) leaked. Getting now.
|
new All the Empires of the World album was released today. it's really good. i remember their first record getting a really positive writeup from Iluvavatars here. they're kind of like isis meets old jesu meets fennesz. new EP is great, it's got a freaking huge sound, all these cavernous washes of ambience and enormous doom riffs. the record label has it up for download for free here, everyone in this thread should give it a spin:
http://recordsonribs.com/artists/alltheempiresoftheworld/lastrites/ i need to check out that new sunn record, everything i've read makes it sound way better than their last few |
New Spiritus Mortis is good.
Very Candlemass-ish with Albert Witchfinder on vocals. |
I love doom metal. Some of the bands I enjoy:
-Black Math Horsemen -Cathedral -Candlemass -Cult of Luna -Isis -My Dying Bride -October Tide -Pentagram -Reverend Bizarre -Saint Vitus -Thorr's Hammer -Witchfinder General Just some bands off the top of my head. |
Welcome.
You have a good taste in doom metal. Good share of traditional and newer/alternative stuff. |
I got an answer by the label!
I am going to interview SUNN O))) :p ... though its not 100%, but I think its 99% sure ... face2face on the 3rd June... next week ^^ So what shall I ask?! |
