Perhaps I'll ask one of my squat friends who'll accept payment in crack.

Jon 02-28-2007 09:55 AM

I accept payment in:
Guinness
Sainsbury's Own Brand Red Bull stuff
Tobacco
Snuff (I want to try it out)

coheneran 02-28-2007 10:05 AM

Dude, snuff is just tobacco with herbs.

Jon 02-28-2007 10:07 AM

So you can actually snort golden virginia or cutters choice?

coheneran 02-28-2007 10:15 AM

Well, it's probably treated in a different way, same as chewing tobacco is.

Jon 03-01-2007 09:32 AM

Exactly, which is why I want to buy some, to see what its like.

My wallet may actually be worse, but I didn't make it. I bought it when I was 6 years old (what 6 year old needs a wallet?)

But that is a pretty neat wallet. Hopefully it doesn't fray to the point of losing money, though.

coheneran 03-02-2007 05:59 AM

When I was 6 my pocketmoney was 5 shekkels a week (the equivalent of about 70p, or 45 cents, but things are cheaper in Israel) which went straight to sweets.

agreed.

Well, today I was bored and realized I hadn't made a stencil in a loooong time, so just for fun I tried out a photoshopping skill I've been developing in my computer graphics class to make a stencil. I don't really have a use for it, but it was fun to make.

Damn, I think that would be pretty hard to stencil.

Well it's not going to be that small. Sure, it'll be a but tough, but since I already drew it in photoshop, I know how to cut it.

coheneran 03-04-2007 06:34 PM

What's the technique? Is it the same as the stencilrevolution.com tutorial? If not you should write one for how you did it, because the stencil-revolutions one leaves a lot to be desired (and even more to be fixed afterwards).

Yeah, it's much different. It's basically drawing over it with the pen tool, which I have now learned to use properly.

you could easily do the same thing by printing an image off of the computer and coloring over it with marker (which is what my friend does, and she makes some excellent stencils. She got the stenciling idea from me and now just totally pwns me at it)

coheneran 03-04-2007 08:23 PM

Doesn't that take ages?

I hate it how all good things take time and hard work. There's never an easy answer.

asdf 03-04-2007 08:25 PM

It does take time, but since I know how to use it much better than before, it's going a lot faster, and sometimes it's relaxing to me. But yeah, it's somewhat obnoxious, and the stencilrevolution tutorial is a much faster way. It just doesn't often work how I'd want it to.

I just finished cutting it, and it looks pretty sweet. Hopefully it wont be ruined after one use.

coheneran 03-04-2007 08:27 PM

How is it obnoxious?

I know a guy who makes some of his more complicated stencils by having a pad of tracing paper and just tracing the lines of the picture over and over again and tweaking it and retracing it until he has it just right.

Which is stupid since he screenprints and does no streetart anyway.

That's kind of how my friend does her stuff. She barely ever uses her stencils, though. She's only made like one shirt, and only sprayed one stencil. It's too bad, because most of hers are better than what I make.

coheneran 03-04-2007 08:34 PM

I really want to find a source for free acetate, that stuff is wicked good for stencils. I'm sick of cardboard bridges breaking apart.

asdf 03-04-2007 08:50 PM

Here was my test spray. It's got a lot of underspray, but whatever.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v294/asdf23/Stencils/P1010465.jpg

I have this idea for a finished one that I just may give as a gift.

coheneran 03-04-2007 09:16 PM

That's good but I think the left punk needs more facial emphasis.

asdf 03-04-2007 09:17 PM
That's good but I think the left punk needs more facial emphasis.
Yeah, I was having difficult with both of the faces, and they dissapeared even more in the cutting process.

Did an Operation Ivy stencil a while ago, proceeded as described on stencilpunks.com. I know the text is a bit shabby but if you like op ivy you don't have to read it to know what it says. :p
