Meatplow 11-14-2009 05:20 AM

decent noise/ambient

MMMBop 11-14-2009 12:43 PM

i have to be in a very specific mood to listen to noise, otherwise it's exactly that. this is coming from someone who is in a noise/ambient group. it's a fairly emotional process when coming up with and recording tracks but idk maybe i just havent heard good noise yet.

Meatplow 11-14-2009 01:11 PM

some noise has no thought put into it whatsoever.

but idk. i've often seen it as experimenting with abrasive frequencies, most of these being completely atonal and having an "anti-music" quality I guess. when used it such a way that recognisable patterns are formed, in its own perverse way it becomes a musical arrangement.

it's easy to abuse noise filters. but when noise is done right, I find it completely thrilling

MMMBop 11-14-2009 02:12 PM

true, but i think theres a difference between a thought and a sentiment. just because some noise may not have a clear thought out diagram of patterns or song structure doesnt mean it lacks emotion. and i rather like creating music that is completely spontaneous. it has a much more satisfying feel to it for me personally. I think the very idea behind the genre is to be continuously experimenting with sound and structure.

Yellow Without Pink - Twist and Shout Since I Don't Have You
http://www.box.net/shared/tynlpntclt

This might be a one-off or I might do more, but this is a bit more experimental and sound collage than Pink and Yellow.

Take a listen and get back to me, or not.

Meatplow 11-17-2009 06:43 AM

i'll check that out when my net gets uncapped

listening to the first disc of Toroidh's European Trilogy, this is pretty good

Txus 11-17-2009 03:11 PM

Where should I start with Laibach?

Meatplow 11-17-2009 03:18 PM

Opus Dei

Jaundice 11-17-2009 06:50 PM

Is it true that their pre Opus Dei albums actually have noticeable ties to industrial music

cuz i read that on wikipedia earlier

Meatplow 11-17-2009 07:22 PM

Yeah.

FatalEnergy 11-18-2009 04:21 AM

I have yet to find some Laibach I dislike.

Meatplow 11-18-2009 04:28 AM

some of the earlier stuff i've heard is a bit eh, it's a bit unfocused and more serious in tone for my liking

otherwise, I have so much fun listening to them

Jaundice 11-18-2009 04:30 AM

not sure if they're my thing, might need to take another listen

Meatplow 11-18-2009 04:37 AM

i'm really digging martial industrial and neoclassical stuff of late

I need to get some more stuff

illmitch 11-18-2009 04:38 AM

my bud is into some, i'll ask him for recs for ya next time i see him online

Jaundice 11-18-2009 04:45 AM

i want to get into some more 80's industrial rock , Skinny Puppy and Ministry type stuff

I'll def need to check some Front Line Assembly

Meatplow 11-18-2009 04:47 AM

FLA is more EBM as far as I can tell. Tactical Neural Implant was great though, i'm pretty sure you will like it.

Have you heard My Life With The Thrill Kill Kult? Get Sexplosion!, it's so much fun.
my bud is into some, i'll ask him for recs for ya next time i see him online
Thanks man.

Jaundice 11-18-2009 04:48 AM

I remember listening to three or four songs on Sexplosion and being repulsed by it.

I remember it sounding like poppy funk rock stuff with samples.

Meatplow 11-18-2009 04:51 AM

it kind of is, difficult to classify. it was on one of Al Jourgensen's labels anyway, most people lump them in with the industrial scene

Jaundice 11-18-2009 04:59 AM

Yeah they were on Wax Trax or something I think, and that's probably why they were lumped in with industrial. other than the heavy sampling i don't remember there being anything industrial about it.

i could give it another listen but idk i just remembering it being soooo cheesy

Meatplow 11-18-2009 05:00 AM

I warmed up to it. Album is super gay though, sort of like Günther meets The Misfits

well maybe not at all I just wanted to use that comparison

Jaundice 11-18-2009 05:03 AM

i'm starting to work on my plan to start the best industrial rock band of all times once again after a very awkward intermission

The girl with the Cello bailed tho so it's just gonna be me on programming and my boy on guitar

so yeah just an advance warning there might be some crazy new industrial tunes coming out soon

Meatplow 11-18-2009 05:05 AM

cool. did you check out that Shizit album?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mqaa28d1lg4

fat beats at the beginning, sounds so ****ing awesome

Jaundice 11-18-2009 05:07 AM

haven't checked the album yet, song sounds like something i can get into tho so ill probs download it soon

Meatplow 11-18-2009 01:46 PM

Aphex Twin's Melodies From Mars is cool

Jaundice 11-18-2009 05:48 PM

How's Drukqs?

Txus 11-18-2009 05:49 PM

Good.

Meatplow 11-18-2009 05:56 PM

I liked the second disc more then the first.

It's taking me a bit to warm up to his stuff.

Txus 11-18-2009 06:00 PM

My favorite Aphex album is definitely the Selected Ambient Works.

Meatplow 11-18-2009 06:07 PM

I did like that I think I prefer Autechre more for that sort of thing

I have to give both of those albums a few more listens

Jaundice 11-18-2009 08:39 PM

what's his more glitchy breakcore type stuff?

All i have is Chosen Lords, I still haven't listened to it but I want to say it leans toward experimental house music.

Meatplow 11-19-2009 12:25 AM

i'm not sure about his other pseudonysms, glitchy breakcore didn't seem to be a complete focus for any one of his LP's as Aphex Twin though

Jaundice 11-19-2009 12:36 AM

but but i remember some girl playing a really glitchy thing for me and saying it was aphex twin

oh well i'll listen to hiim anyway

Txus 11-19-2009 08:13 AM

he's never done glitchy breakcore like bong ra and stuff like that with amen breaks etc.

the closest thing that comes to mind is the richard d. james album.

Meatplow 11-19-2009 11:36 AM

Come to Daddy gives most people the wrong impression about his work I think.

I'm about 6 years too late but I can't stop listening to Günther, album is so ridiculous.
