I agree with what BRA says - a breakdown can be good if (a) it sounds remotely original, (b) the music flows organically into the breakdown without it (c) being predictable. I've seen -core bands live in the past who have such predictable breakdowns you don't need to know the song to predict 5 seconds in advance when the f@ggot on your left starts hardcore dancing. Edit: (d) the breakdown should not feel unneccessary,i.e. when it does not fit in the song and makes you think "these guys just ruined an OK number just to give their F@ggot white trash fans some beatdown time".
