Did everyone know that Slayer is second most covered band in the world.
Wow I did not know that. I have heard 2 local bands cover them (one did Raining Blood and my brothers band did a medley thing). The song I've seen most bands cover though is Walk by Pantera, I've seen it done 4 or 5 times (6 actually if you count Damageplan).

Britton 10-06-2005 11:34 AM
HAHA... yeah.

Do you have Hell Awaits?
No I don't
can't stand slayer!
Seriously why would you come in here just to say that? Don't be a music snob, if you don't have anything good to say about Slayer then don't even bother, you idiot.

if you do indeed believe so, then try not posting in the slayer fan forum...just for the our sake and yours. your blink 182 forum is missing you

OWNED!

should I get south of heaven or reighn in blood?

nowitzki 10-06-2005 04:15 PM

Reign In Blood fo sho, but both are awesome. No metal fan should have RIB missing from their collction.

Nostalgia 10-06-2005 04:19 PM

Both have very different sides to them. South of heaven is more melodic and has more of slower beats rather then thrashing. It was a really good album though, it upset some "hardcore" followers but they didn't see the good side of it.

However reign in blood is super thrashy with driving drums and over powering and speedy vocals. I would start out reign in blood, to understand the band then go to south of heaven. Oh and if you get reign in blood "necrophobiac" is like the best song on their IMO toms voice is awesome in it, and the lyrics are quite gross.

Britton 10-06-2005 04:39 PM

Sounds awsome.

who here has all their albums?

Nostalgia 10-06-2005 04:42 PM

I have hell awaits, haunting the chapel, reign in blood, show no mercy, seasons in the abyss, south of heaven, divine intervention, undisputed attitude and still reighning. Still reighning is soooo awesome. And you get to see a interview of kerry talk shit so its worth it.

Bazarov 10-06-2005 04:43 PM

I have all but 2 and Soundtrack to the Apocalypse. I need God Hates us All, and Undisputed Attitude. But I don't plan on buying UA ever, since it's just Slayer's cover of punk songs.. in my opinion it's horrible.

/Has an extreme disliking of punk music.

Nostalgia 10-06-2005 04:47 PM

Yea UA isn't really my style either It's cool they did some punk songs but it doesn't really showcase their guitar work that much. But you can hear toms bass good so I like that part.

Bazarov 10-06-2005 04:52 PM

I haven't even heard that album fully through, I have this friend who's into punk like Minor Threat, GBH, stuff like that, and one day he showed me some random songs off that album he had on his computer, and I was in disbelief.. I hear that song Gemini is supposed to be pretty good though.

Britton 10-06-2005 04:58 PM

Yea I can't stand punk.

Nostalgia 10-06-2005 04:59 PM

Though slayer riff and speed wise are related from punk they still are very far away IMO.

metalmilitia101 10-06-2005 05:00 PM
Though slayer riff and speed wise are related from punk they still are very far away IMO.
hah VERY much so....and thank god for that

Britton 10-06-2005 05:00 PM

Yea I'm a big Tallica fan (the heavy fast stuff)
and I hated when they did those punk covers

Bazarov 10-06-2005 05:03 PM

Yes, I agree with this.

Just a little off-topic... when I saw them last year, they were playing the intro to Frayed Ends of Sanity, and the whole stadium went nuts.. then they stopped and played that Last Caress/Green Hell by the Clash or someone... I was disappointed.

Nostalgia 10-06-2005 05:05 PM

I know Jeff loves punk. They talk about it in the interview on still reighing

That's funny

thank god they didn't do that when I saw them.

although I really like Garage inc.

back to slayer

Nostalgia 10-06-2005 05:09 PM

Man its everywhere here, it is bascliey just the reign in blood set list. But they have like 8 bonus tracks that show like necrophilliac, and Tom says the nastiest stuff before they play necrophilliac. When they introduce the song hes like, this song is a bout older women. Really older women the kind that are 6 feet under. and then hes like you know what I like best about "older" women, when you eat em out you can hear the maggots crunching. I'm like gross.

Britton 10-06-2005 05:12 PM

Sunds cool

who was it that made that song I cum Blood?

Bazarov 10-06-2005 05:13 PM

I wish they would have played that when I saw them. They played really short only about an hour and 10 mintues played about 11 songs. Nothing off of Hell Awaits...

Nostalgia 10-06-2005 05:15 PM

Hell awaits was awesome...the production was horrendious though.

Agreed. But generally, I look try and look pass the crappy sound quality of CD's. Maybe Slayer will one day remaster their older CD's like Megadeth did? I just hope they don't mess with the songs and make changes. Or maybe I would I'm not sure...

Nostalgia 10-06-2005 05:22 PM

Yea but it does add some more edge to the album...daves drums sound good IMO.

Nostalgia 10-06-2005 05:26 PM

Woot 1000 posts, any one know any other good slayer sites besides slayerized adn slayer saves?

/trys not to spam

yeah, ppl blah blah about production so much nowadays that they are losing the feel for what the music is about and what the song sounds like lol. get a life, yes production is very important, but if its a touch less than perfect don't blow a gasket.

Agreed, I have a friend who refuses to listen to most 80's metal because he's such a production whore. It's rather iratating when I try and talk about a band and he immediatley rags on them because of crappy quality... but whatever... everyone has their opinions.

Welcome to the 1000's club SilentScream7.

Britton 10-06-2005 09:19 PM

I find that I like bad production I love the RAW stuff
that stuff that says I work in a sticker factory and play metal at night
fukk off!

Nostalgia 10-07-2005 04:05 PM

Well, I don't really mind the prodcution on hell awaits, because since they are a thrash band it gives them a little more edge the music. But I listened to the nirvana boxset (and I know it is all recorded on a four track) and the production was terrible you couldn't even hear the vocals, let alone the guitar it just sounded like backround distortion.

Britton 10-07-2005 04:07 PM

Yea I undestand what you mean. I've had some of my bands
stuff turn out like that.

KittensInMicrowaves 10-07-2005 04:10 PM
Hell awaits was awesome...the production was horrendious though.
Agreed, its a shame too because Crypts of Eternity is an amazing song, I'd love to hear it with great production

Nostalgia 10-07-2005 04:21 PM

Do you think they will ever have a greatest hits album? I know they have decade of agression but its live so it takes some of the sound away IMO. Oh and when do you think they will have a farwell tour?

Bazarov 10-07-2005 04:44 PM

I don't think they'll have a fairwell tour, I think they'll just keep touring and one day they'll just stop touring, like King said they won't be touring when they're in their 60's. But who knows when they're in their late 80's they might just get together for one last tour. If they do a farewell tour, it should be full of fire, raining blood effects, and loudness.

hits album...I don't know how the hell I'm gonna get all their CD'S
