Family Jewels is great, and yeah I wish there would of been more live videos. I think disc 1's the best, then again I havent watched disc 2 much, what about you?
Disc one by far. Probably because I'm a huge fan of the Bon Scott era. Plus I just prefer the music. Obviously Johnson's era is also great... but I just personally preferred Bon Scott. I read that Angus used to run home from school to get to band practice in a few interviews and on an AC/DC facts site... when I had to do a presentation on them. Obviously it must have been before the AC/DC years. edit: Just read about the AC/DC - Chuck berry thing. Isn't it easy to see from the duck walk that Angus was a big fan of Chuck? Chuck berry basically made the duckwalk. All adds up to the stage entertainment... I'm planning getting the latest Kerrang mag, just because it has an awesome front cover of Angus playing his geetar', with the AC/DC logo on it. I guess I'll frame it and keep it for many years to come. :D |
I read that Angus used to run home from school to get to band practice in a few interviews and on an AC/DC facts site
when angus first started playing he ran home to play his guitar not band practice. Angus left school at 15 and worked in a softcore **** factory then AC/DC started he never wore the uniform on stage originally although he still had his old school uniform and could still fit into it. then during gigs hed dress up as zorro and superman and a gorilla but the school boy suit got the biggest response from everyone so he kept it. next thing just becos u read it on a facts site doesnt mean its correct half the AC/DC facts on the internet are wrong theres even one saying Angus has a flowershop in Holland or something but he doesnt really. |
AC/DC plays simple stuff, but it's all about the emotion. Angus may be over rated, because he's not as fast as Vai or he's not as creative as Hendrix but he feels the music. It's all about the music. THE MUSIC THE MUSIC THE MUSIC!!!!!
|
just let me say in advance that a lot of people will probably disagree with me on this but im kind of hypocritical on this so here i go....
You say that they are simple but good. It doesn't really matter what they are, just what they sound like. If it's simple but you like it, then why criticize them? They do what they do best, play rock n' roll. There good musicians in the sense that they play good music, not how good they play it. AC/DC is a good band in the sense that they play catchy tunes that you can hear for the first time and sing along to or tap your foot to. but.... Thats because there songs a simple but good. AC/DC isnt all that great of musicians they've won people over simplicity and catchyness
You say that they are simple but good. Angus is an incredible player, he will always be one of rock's guitar greats. I used to be very closed-minded, however, like a lot of AC/DC fans - I listened to a lot of AC/DC and nothing else. I find your taste broadens dramatically once you actually start playing the guitar.
|
i got that family jewels today
thats an *** kicker |
No, I read somewhere that Angus would often run home from school to band practice when he was 15. He never had enough time to change so he stayed in his schoolboy outfit. His sister gave him the idea of wearing it in concerts.
(I'm pretty sure the pamphlet of High Voltage said that) |
Me too thunzerstuck.
But AB/CD seems to know his stuff. I only presumed I was right as I've read many websites claiming this to be true, and many interviews. I'd rather go along with what the fact sites and interviews have said, rather than you. |

Nice Scott Weiland avatar. And I agree, Angus is an incredible guitar player.. |
I want to clear up the uniform thing. AB/CD is right it was playing the guitar and not even bothering to get out of his school uniform. It has been stated that Angus was 15 at the time but this was a lie concocted by a magazine(dont ask me which one) to make him look younger and therefore fit the ideal of a uniform better.
|
Angus used to go along with that story but come on Angus only started playing guitar when he was around 12 AC/DC wasnt formed until after he left school at 15 so how could he run home from a school he wasnt even at in a uniform he didnt even wear
|
Ofcourse he could of at the age of fifteen.
But, it doesn't matter. My mate has given me his Kerrang magazine with a nice AC/DC article in it. It has a really nice cover with Angus on the front, I'll try scan it some time. Anyway, here's the first paragraph... It's pretty funny. "Angus young has been heckled before, but no-one has ever walked onstage - his stage - and put him in a headlock halfway through a gig. Verbal insults are par for the course in the rought 'n tumble pubs of Perth, and normally the guitarist lets them slide. But it's hard to ignore a gorilla grapling with your face. Wiggling out of both the headlock and his guitar strap, Angus deals his assailant a short, sharp, blow to the head, followed by a swift kick in the arse, jettisoning him back into the crowd. Behind him the band have stopped playing and are preparing for the worst. After all, in a pub like this, where the drink seems to taste better with a good fight, things could explode at any second. But, satisfied the job is done, Angus simply turns around, straps his guitar on, gives his band the nod and they're of again. 'I know I look tiny up there, but thats the worst time to give me grief' he smiles backstage. 'When I pull that suit on, it takes over!'. Lesson number one: No-one ****s with AC/DC". Awesome pictures too. I'm not a fan of the Kerrang mag, but this article is niiice. |
heard about that story my dad told me 1 about when they came to Belfast on the highway to hell tour
new wave punk was startin i think and during the gig the punks kept trying to spit on Angus so eventually after a song Angus walked to the front of the stage and since the whole audience had shut up now since they knew somethign was up u could make Angus out clearly and his exact words were "if u lot dont stop spitting on this stage I wil get down there and kick your asses" bastards stopped spitting woulda liked aload of punks to get mauled by a midget |
thunderstruck is my fav ac/dc song

In the article, it had a little bit about how once Johnny Rotton was watching AC/DC live on stage, and he knew AC/DC weren't punk, and he was also unimpressed. But as soon as Angus jumped onto the stage, span around the floor, duckwalked, and held his hand up to crowd saluting them, you could tell Angus didn't care too much for Punk 'nor Johnny Rotton. Angus said they just want to make hard rock. |

Ive never forgotten it. It just shows dont **** with angus. |
I hate people who say Angus is over rated and I even read that Phil Rudd is over rated well my first reaction was of course 'bull****'
Angus Young is the most idolistic guitarists of all time |
in january of 75, acdc and deep purple got into a fight on the middle of the stage in front of about 20,000 people. deep purple didnt want to be followed by acdc b/c they were jelous.after the fight acdc plus george young went onstage and played( deep purple was pretty mad,but they didnt want to get ****ed up after the show)
|
ill tell u what best thing AC/DC do is occasonally have Angus sing might jsut be a line or just repeating oi over and over but its still great cos he sounds like hes on viagra or something
|
I once heard that AC/DC was once supporting Black Sabbath and was kicked out because angus beat up the bass player. I dont know what bass player, I hope it wasnt geezer.
|
i can't stand their singles...or "hits" or w/e but i like some of the **** that how do i say this....sounds...different
|
I once heard that AC/DC was once supporting Black Sabbath and was kicked out because angus beat up the bass player. I dont know what bass player, I hope it wasnt geezer.
I thought it was Malcohm that beat up the bass player? |
ac/dc isnt bad i guess. i dont like brians voice though, sounds the same in every song. also, every "prep" is starting to wear ac/dc shirts with there little 6' chain ac/dc wallet, and still cant name everyone in the band. Ever since J.C. Pennies and like k-mart started selling ac/dc shirts, everyone has one even if they dont know who they are. Bi+ches.
|
My band wanted to play ac/dc as a cover song.
but we wern't sure about the singer....ha. I still love them. |
I thought it was Malcohm that beat up the bass player?
It was Malcom but angus could hav dun it anyway coz his a legend |
I thought it was Malcohm that beat up the bass player?
Oh yeah. My mistake. |
just got Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap. Awesomeness!:)
|
they are a good band, there music isnt as complicated as most bands, but it still sounds good, and that's all that matters.
|
AC/DC is my favorite band of all time, but its just a matter of opinion. I like their simple straight forward rock n roll style, but other people dont seem to as much.
And they were ALOT better with Bon Scott, but Brian is still awesome |
So I just downloaded an ACDC video with Bon Scott dressed as a school girl.
|
baby please dont go
|
hahaha, Bon was awesome. to bad the guy died. :upset:
Yep. Brian Johnson is cool and all, but nothing could really compare to Bon. That guy was just pure insanity. |
just got Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap. Awesomeness!:)
Very true. I really like the 50's rock slant that album has. |
rocker is the best song off dirty deeds well i thikn so cos its fast and catchy the lyrics are pretty simple and its catchy.....again
|
Rocker? Oh yeah thats right you have the international release. Rock in Peace is a great song on that album. Is that on the international release?
|
Whats the best song ac/dc has?
I say It's a long way to the top. |
I'm a fan of Whole Lotta Rosie, Shake A Leg, and Walk All Over You.
|
