Yea those are the kids that mostly went to the OAR show here. I'm friends with most of them.

tmb7281, where do you go to school?

Sweeet.

Who is in the line-up, Trucks, Haynes, Trucks, Jaimo, Gregg, and Oteil?

robo2448 07-16-2005 06:52 PM
It seems like the hxc Abercrombie and Fitch preppies in my school always like OAR and DMB. They are not too far away from being your typical Deadhead/Phish head, but they do tend to be much more clean-cut
Yes, same here. I enjoy seeing OAR because there a fun show to see live, the booze makes it more fun though. I hear them compared to DMB a lot, but I absolutely hate DMB. I have a few friends going to the Big Summer Classic. Wish I was.

And Marc Quinoes, he's a percussionist that joined for Hittin' the Note.

The concert was awesome minus the amazingly lop sided fight that occured next to me during the drum solo (you can read about this in more detail in the CR Thread).

wishiwasinweezer 07-18-2005 11:49 PM

Can anyone recommend good jam/folk rock bands that are similar to OAR?

Thanks in advance.

Kayetan 07-19-2005 12:17 AM

Anybody ever listen to Ataxia?

Would a guitarist be interested in teaming up with me for the Bass and Guitar forums partnership?

Dave Matthews
Dispatch
Guster

Those are pretty similar to OAR, probably all a little better.

The ones Badmoon mentioned are even better then the ones I mentioned, a bit different from OAR, but you'd still like them.

robo2448 07-19-2005 02:59 PM
Ben Harper

I'll have to check out Rudd. I like Johnson and Harper a lot, but I don't think I've heard of Rudd.

jpj 07-20-2005 10:30 AM

Anyone heard SCI's new album yet? I'm listening to it now, and so far it's really good.

Jam2Me 07-20-2005 11:48 AM

I only read the review on Jambase, sounds like a solid album.

Kingadamx 07-20-2005 11:28 PM

Wow, I've been away from these forums for a while. Who knew that I would start a thread that broke 1000. I'll have to start posting more often.

Manticore Guy 07-21-2005 11:37 AM

I'm seeing SCI and a bunch of other jam bands in NYC today. Anyone else goin?

Jam2Me 07-25-2005 10:24 AM

I saw Blues Traveler on Saturday...wow, honestly one of the best concerts I've ever been to. It was a free concert on the town green, 25,000 people. I would've paid $40 to see those guys and it would have been worth it.

yeah, i saw BT on 7/14 at wolftrap, good show, i'm all about any band who will do a violent femmes cover

Jam2Me 07-25-2005 02:51 PM

They did a sick cover of "Devil Went Down To Georgia" instead of a fiddle Popper did some sick harmonica playing.

No :upset:

I was going to, but then my dad got 16th row tickets to see them in VT, at a state fair. It is tremendous fun to camp out at a state fair, especailly if you like carnaval food for breakfast, so I gave up on the Meadows

I just got Phish - Lawn Boy the other day. Some seriously weird stuff (as usual) but I'm in awe of their creativity.

Badmoon 07-31-2005 01:16 AM

That's the album that got me into Phish. It's a terrific album and still one of my favorites.

wanton 07-31-2005 09:10 AM

Badmoon, Panic is playing at Farmaid, so you should go... If you haven't decided already.

I don't own anything live by them, their new CD Bastardos sounds like it will be good, they played a couple songs at the concert.

I'm sill mad about Zooma Tour

Kingadamx 08-01-2005 10:41 PM

Just Saw the Derek Trucks band. Awesome show, the man is an animal on the slide guitar. Plus he worked in a Miles Davis cover, which was great. One of the best Jam Shows that I have seen in a while.

tmb72187 08-02-2005 12:23 PM

the new BT releases 9/13. as for live CD's, they have Live from the Fall, which focuses on their earlier stuff, and On the Rocks, which has more later stuff

Four and s/t.

Jam2Me 08-02-2005 09:16 PM

I picked up Michael Franti & Spearhead - Stay Human since I saw him at BSC....right now it's my favorite hip-hop CD, the messages that guy conveys in the CD is really impressive, the overall idea of the CD is impressive too I would suggest it for anyone whether you like rap/hip-hop or not.

powerslave765 08-08-2005 11:51 PM
