I don't even think I got all the way through the album. Maybe I should give them another try. :p
|
keep an eye to the thread, I'll soon upload some quality stuff
EDIT
i wasnt as impressed with them as i hoped to be either. The reviews on "celestial entrance" were flawless and after several listens i still cant recall a song i really got into. proof that masterful musicianship does not make you a good songwriter.
I feel exactly this way about infinity divine, the production of which by the way is awful. However, I dont think they're that technical. They're typical, generic, semi technical power/prog. A reviewer on www.metalcrypt.com does nothing but praising them all the time and I cant see why... |
I hope you like it as much as I do :)

I had a lot of expectations for Celestial Entrance, due to his excessive laudation of Pagan's Mind, but I can't seem to get into it as well. |
Avenged Sevenfold - City of Evil
supposed to be power metal...I think? anyway its good. |
i needed a break buddy, never fear though hehe...power metal will always be life to me :)
true words  whoring for lost horizon? anyone else a fan? |

Lord Requiem actually but we seem to be talking about the same guy :p
whoring for lost horizon?
I've been meaning to check them for such a long time. Any upload would be appreciated |
i just got uploaded an A7X song off their latest album (beast and the harlot), i think i might get it...are they classed as Power Metal? the advert i saw on TV for the album described it as PM...
|

|

Hey! The PM thread is back! Yes, their new album is most accurately described as power metal. However, their earlier albums were more metalcore/hardcore. |
Could someone reccomend me some power metal bands with a good bassist. Or any power metal song with a good bass line in it.
|
great to see this thread back up, I saw considering making a new one.
Anyways, to discuss my Power Metal likings up to date, Blind Guardian has easily become one of my most respected bands |
I'm minutes away from listening to the new Demons & Wizards album. I gotta say, I haven't been this excited to listen to a new album in a long time. I'll post remarks after my, hopefully incredible, listening experience.

Dragonforce - Fury Of The Storm. Sweeet basslines. |

i'd say DragonForce, Adrian Lambert's a class bassist. and they're just..awesome. my favourite song is Soldiers of the Wasteland, thats got good bass in it. EDIT: wow, 2 of us suggested DragonForce at the same time. |

Will do, all in good time.

Sorry for double post, but this is a frequently asked question. Yes, they have a lot of PM influences on the new album (Beast And The Harlot + Burn It Down are the biggest ones), but are still not outright Power. They combine so many genre's, its hard to class them. |

Blind Guardian or Symphony X (close enough to Power Metal) I saw Dragon Force a couple of times, their bassist is good, but the band overall isn't. They have to learn to change it up once in a while. |

Saying this, it doesn't mean that he has the ability to do more. |

I'm pretty sure that they do, but I don't know too much about them. |
On the first few albums, Hansi played bass. But on the last couple ones, they've hired a session player named Oliver Holzwarth so that Hansi can focus on his singing full-time.
Though he has talked about considering picking up the bass again. |
How many Demons and Wizards fans do we have in the house?
|
^^^I've heard a little bit of their music. Its very good and on the thrashier side of power metal.

check out the thread i made for the new album yesterday, seems to have mixed reviews which i dont understand...i happen to love the new cd, although the last few tracks are weak (just like the last album). |

I just saw Rhapsody with Manowar and Holy Hell. They put on great shows. And like he said, Alex had a great drum solo.
|
Since ManoWars been brought up...Who has heard "Flight of the Bumblebee" or "My Spirit Lives On"???
I find ManoWar to be extremely cheesy and lame, but those two tracks showed me they're pretty talented. Both solo tracks, "Flight of the Bumblebee" being Bass, "My Spirit Lives On" guitar. Great solo tracks if you ask me |
I wanted to go see Manowar and Rhapsody for the Rhapsody part, but sadly, I was broke and had to save my money for gigantour.
|
bah, you Americans and your Gigantour,
my gig schedule is pretty full though sonata arctica at thirteenth day? will I go? you bet your hat I am! |
A question about Rhapsody: Their songs are symphonic with choirs and stuff, how do they play them live?
|
bah, you Americans and your Gigantour
I'm going to see Symphony X kick some serious ***. |
Hammerfall! \m/
My last purchase was Sonata Arctica - Silence. =D Lost Horizon rawk!!! :thumb: |
Only power metal band i like(and heard) is Helloween but its great so don't need any more power :P
