What'd you think of J. Fay? |
What'd you think of J. Fay?
I didn't like it at all. It just sounded like instrumental country music. |
I'm pretty happy. I have worked through two reading books on bass in my lesson, so my teacher is starting to teach me real-world bass playing. I got a walking bass line creation book and a book of bebop heads for bass to help me learn to improvize a walking line, and once I get into this pretty well he has a Victor Wooten book for me to work in. That might be a good reason to go ahead and get the sixer I have been looking at - Vic likes to play tenor.

Playing tenor is a lot of fun. I strung my fretless tenor and I don't think I'll ever change it back. |

Seriously? Just country music? Really? Well, worth a shot! |

Well, worth a shot!
Yeah. I was excited and then terribly let down. |

I <3 high notes. I would totally play tenor except that I can't see doing away with low E and G. Which is where a sixer comes in. Or tenor five, but fives feel wrong to me and lately I have wanted low G in 7th position. |
I just had a great shower; I didn't even have to try.

Or an 8 string... <_< I'm so gonna have mine strung up B-E-A-D-G-C-F-Bb. <3 And, yeah... a 5 does feel awkard. All odd numbers do, imo. |
really? alot of times when i take a shower i have to try real hard... what's your secret?
|
That is all up to you.
i suppose. i'd really like to get one and laern,i think iot would make my playing improve so much.. plus then i can play awesome quarter tones and stuff |

I would love to purchase a fretless, but no means of availabe funds at the moment unless I started selling off gear, which I don't intend to do. It is all about dedication and practise. Just start off slowly with the basics and develop a feel for it--though you said that you currently have a lined fretless if I am not mistaken--and then you should be good from there.
And, yeah... a 5 does feel awkard. Not being a big fatty... :p I'm sorry. Really. That was mean. |

I have no use for the low F# and I always dwindle in the upper registers of my Ibanez, so I know the Bb would get a ton of use. I'm waiting to hear back from Delano about making me a pickup and then the next planning stages will commence and I'll be pulling the trigger on this baby in late spring. |

I've only ever liked playing a couple of 5s. Whenever I'm on one, I start ascending and suddenly find myself having to move up the neck instead of being able to stay in the same spot. |

Yeah, I have started playing my high C more than I first thought I would. I don't like playing ridiculously high up on the frets all the time, so the C comes in handy for chords, tapping, and such. Of course, now, my five string feels like a pile of rubbish, and I haven't touched it since. I have only played my four string once since I bought my five string, but then I realised the action was too high, so I put it away. :p I love having six strings. |
Can't wait to get my 6 string.
I've barely touched my 4 since getting my 5. Same reason too, the action is terribly high. |

I never realized Eliott Smith was this good.

Like... half a year, without touching another bass. Then get a 4 string. Suddenly, it's like a toy. |

I didn't have a problem with loaning it to her since I was strictly playing my five at the time, so that is one of the other reasons I never played it. I could lower the action, but I can't be arsed to do it at the moment. I intonated my six string last night, and, by then end of it, I didn't even want to play the damn thing. :p |

I play the same. I am always up high playing chords or tapping or doing other things that I have no business doing as a bassist. |
