You are looking for Rock and Roll, I think. On a related note, A silver Mt. Zion |

OH, they're so wonderful
I have horses in the Sky and he has left us alone... blah blah. Very good, both of them. I don't like the use of vocals (and what creepy, weird vocals) in horses but it's OK nonetheless. |

ASMZ's vocals are what attracts me the most. They have feeling and that imperfection/bad vocals/whatever just makes it sound so much more real.
Also, I want to score with their lyrics. I love my dog and she loves me The world's a mess and so are we She tumbles long green muddy fields Sick with joy and glee And as she dreams sweet puppy dreams Whimpering gently |
Have you ever listened to Hoppipolla? It has one of the most beautiful melodies ever. Go listen now- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WkP_NaMsrMM
See, that one was a lot better than the other Sigur Ros I've listened to.
i don't hear any melody or rhythm in that whatsoever
You aren't funny.
|
Neoteric you've probably only heard ( ) which is their most ambient release. You ought listen to some of their other albums like Aegdalsdkfy Bjyerakkdn and Takk because they have more song-based material.
|
It wasn't that one I'm sure, I think it was the one with the big long title you mentioned :p
I didn't like it, it just wasn't something I could get into. |
Takk... is probably Sigur Ros' most accessible album. More accessible, but just as beautiful.
Could some one give me some recommendations for A Silver Mt. Zion and Mogwai? What are their best albums? |
Mogwai - Young Team
|
mogwai fear satan is probably in the top ten post rock trax

What are their best albums?
for ASMZ, "He has left us alone but shafts of light sometimes grace the corners of our rooms" is the most standard post-rock and a good introduction to the different way in which they do things (movie: never made probably being my favourite song they ever did) but if you like deep ends, get horses in the sky just bear in mind whatever you're expecting this is not it |
I remember listening to Young Team ages ago and remembering how awesome it was.
I should really download it again just to refresh my memory. |
Get My Father My King.

Thank you everyone :)

I got Giant Squid's album at this epic record store in Portland. I haven't listened to it yet though.
So yeah. |
Not really a post rock band, but congratulations anyway. They're sweet.
|
Oh really? The label said 'for fans of Isis, Mogwai, Pelican" so I was like "yeah, I should maybe get this."
I don't like In The Absence of Truth any more though. |
I can see fans of those bands liking Giant Squid. Eh, maybe they are post rock, what the hell do I know?
Why no ItAoT anymore, though? |
I listened to it on Saturday and it was annoying the hell out of me. Maybe I was just in a terrible mood, but I just found it to be really displeasing. Saturday Night Wrist was awesome though and I listened to them back to back.
Get My Father My King.
i want that so so so so bad. im a huge fan of mogwai, and that is the missing piece to my mogwai collection. ive heard parts of track 1, and i was blown away, i love it when mogwai gets loud. oh, and my input on the sigur ros discussion here is... ágætis byrjun is their best album. oh, and i agree with Kayetan when he says Goodbye Enemy Airship, the Landlord Is Dead is DMST's best Album. |

Does anyone have Russian Circles' EP or anything other than Enter?

I wish. Rosetta and Mouth of the Architect sound very stylistically similar to me. |
Rosetta is solid. I still need the 2nd disc of TGS though.
|
I went to one of Russian Circles shows. It was pretty killer.
|
How about Helios. I just got their new album and I think it's really nice stuff.
|
Pelican is touring the US with Russian Circles. Ill be seeing them in March
Red Sparowes are also doing the States soon. |

Word, one of the strongest releases of 2006. Dragonfly Across An Ancient Sky is a fantastic track. I might be seeing Pelican on some kind of small post-rock festival in April, although the line-up this year seems to be somewhat weaker than previous year(s), althoygh the two tracks I have by Audrey sound really good.
