Davey says it should be in our hands in early 2006. If all goes well, that means sometime in the next 3-4 months we should have singles XD And you can get 336 for like $50 on eBay or for like $10 out of the Despair Faction store. I did eBay. |
Just been listening to some Tiger Army. Realized how much like AFI they sound. Kinda makes me like Tiger Army less and AFI more...
|
hahah Adam drummed on TA's first album and Nick backups AFI and AFI backup Tiger Army on albums all the time
|
Well I guess that makes sense. Everyone's been telling me Tiger Army are a rockabilly/psychobilly band. And I suppose they are kinda, in a modern, updated kinda way. But it's a way I don't like. They sound like they do everything halfarsed. They don't have the bollocks to go fully gothy like AFI, nor do they have the balls to go fully psychobilly like The Nekromantix or something. Just MOR lamosity.
|
Only the meteors are pure psychobilly.
|
^^^^^^
You sir, are a god among men. |
Heh, thank it to the über god, Fat Matty.

AFI's not goth. The Cult is goth. Bauhaus is goth. Skinny Puppy is goth. AFI is not goth. Maybe they like both so they blend and do their own little genre-bender thing. AFI's stuff is pretty genre (and gender) bending |
Yeah I know all of that, but I needed one word to sum up how I feel about AFI's newer stuff. And gothy is the best one I could think of.
|
And there's nothing wrong with liking both and incorporating both, without that there would be no psychobilly at all. But Tiger Army sound like a bad Nekromantix cover band making love/fighting with a bad AFI cover band.
|
I like Tiger Army. Just that whoever's vocals sound too much like Davey's and the bass only goes click. But "Under Saturns Shadow" still rules.
|
Tiger Army are alright. I'm not really partial to their style of music though. It's ok in small doses.
|
I'm madly in love with psychobilly and rockabilly, but I stole some tiger army off the internet and I was very let down.
|
I was REALLY disspointed in Tiger Army when I first heard them, but then they grew on me, and then I started to get sick of them.
|
fair enough, I might listen some more and see what happens. Back to AFI, sorry for hi-jacking.
|
did anyone see AFI before they went all pop-punk? i'm talkin about the early days, eh?
|
AFI has like 3 pop-punk songs......
And Tiger Army seriously kick major arse. And they are psychobilly. And The Meteors are actually not as good as most psycho bands. Still good though. Ya know, I was thinking the other day while listening to the Nerve Agents' "Jekyl And Hyde" that AFI probably does just as much outside of the band as they do for themselves. Davey sings backup for bands like The Nerve Agents, Tiger Army, etc. and has Son Of Sam. Adam was in Tiger Army for a bit. Hunter drums in another band. Jade was in Redemption 87 before AFI and did backup vocals for AFI when in Redemption 87. This all not mentioning Geoff, Blaq Audio, and live performances. I think almost every band related to them in some way is awesome. By this, I mean bands like the Swingin' Utters and SOIA too. Man, I would have loved to see them when they played shows with any of the above mentioned bands. |

One thing Dustbunny. Refused >>>>>>>> AFI Oh and get soulseek back you bastard. |

Refused >>>>>>>> AFI Oh and get soulseek back you bastard.
Wrong. I pulled out Songs To Fan... yesterday to try and REALLY get into Refused. I sat there (in my car) and listened to every song very carefully to try and see why everyone thinks they're so great. Well, I still have the same opinion...... They are good. But not that good. I guess I don't get them. Why do you want me to get soulseek back so bad? |
Why do you want me to get soulseek back so bad?
You can't get into them because you like AFI. And my msn is ****ed so i never get to talk to you anymore :upset: |
I only sign on to MSN about once a week nowadays.
Maybe I will get it back then. There are about 4 or 5 bands I have been meaning to check out anyways.... |
Sup Dustin. So ... yeah, cool cucumbers.
|
Here I am, back on soulsex with the NZ posse.
I am on and the name is "el_shiznit". I'm not sure if that's what it was before. Back to AFI............. They rule. |
One two fucking three. Just thinking of their new album makes me feel all warm and happy inside my stomach.
|
Haha, I wondered how long it would be until you found this thread.

Sounds like you're about to break into the white boy rap. |

The Leaving Song Part 2 isn't though. Pop-punk doesn't have those kind of choruses. Don't forget Hunter Revenge. Hunter was in the Force. Jade was in Loose Change. Jade was in Influence 13 (with Nick 13), F3BW (with Nick 13 and Levi of Loose Change), Taxidermy (played bass), a hardcore one with Smith (no name), a pop punk one with Smith (no name), and an un-named one with Adam and Jeff. Jade also worked with The Static Age on their last album remixing one of the songs. |
Yeah, I didn't feel like mentioning all their projects. I was getting tired writing what I already did.
3 was an estimate. But I think it's about right. A Winter's Tale Days Of The Phoenix This Celluloid Dream and I think that's about it. I don't think GNG is pop-punk to be honest. It's not all that different from something like The Nephilim. I'd put it under melodic hardcore. |
