JamesDrummer 04-23-2005 10:56 PM

Hi Bobby and others, I don't know if this is the right place to ask but I have this Meinl splash and wanted to know what it was. I is 11" and has "PROFILE" written on the top . "PRO" is red and "FILE" is green. my dad bought it at a boot sale for $20 , thanks, James

you must realize that when they record, the sounds are being run though mics, EQ's and most likely a very talented sound guy. and also, all cymbals sound unique, so what may sound GREAT on a CD, could sound HORRIBLE in person. thats why i suggest the 18" AA Medium. its a fairly standard sounding cymbal. bright, powerful, but not obtrusive. cant go wrong with it in any setting really.

Hats - A Custom Mastersounds, 2002 Sound Edges, Signature Sound Edges
Ride - A. Zildjian Rock Ride, Signature Power Ride

try ordering an AA Rock Crash with some Rivits. you will have to place a custom order at your shop most likely, but they shouldnt charge you extra for it.

please quote, or restate your question when asking that.

hey I am looking for a new cymbal pack $150 range. I have had cymbals that come with my kit for a year and I'm really sick of them. (I don't even have a ride cymbal.) I'm looking at the Meinl MCS pack. I don't have a job and I'm only 14, so money at my age is hard to come by. Does anybody have any Suggestions/Recomendations?

I played the set at my school for a little bit and got spoiled They have a paiste full crash, zildjian new beat hats, and sabian aa medium ride. I really don't like such a light ride though. That 17" paiste crash is sweet though (its also $200 ish at guitar center lol)

Any help would be deeply appreciated. thanks

Try and see if you can get some B8's or save up for B8 Pro/Pro Sonix Line....Also Look into some of the starter cymbals from paiste, I would recommend the 802 or 502 line but i think they discontinued them...also look into meinl....

Also I'm looking for a Ride that has a controllable overtones, something with a Bright cutting Bell, with a bow that is also crashable, but when crash it has more of a darker feel, I was thinking maybe an HHX Evolution but i wanted to get some input first. It doesn't really matter what the size/whieght is although i play mostly metal but i will almost any cymbal for anything and every thing....

Retarded Chipple 04-24-2005 02:56 PM

Hey, I play in punk/pop-punk band that at the moment plays small, quiet gigs of around 100-200 people. I need fairly cheap ride cymbal. I was looking at the Paiste Alpha power ride. Would this be ok? Any other suggestions, prefably Paiste but I will settle for any other make. I'll probably be buying from http://adcdrums.co.uk

i'd say the HHX Stage ride is the way to go...maybe a Hand Hammered Medium-Heavy Ride.

hello?

groomits 04-26-2005 05:44 AM

the soundclips of the new artisan ride are now on www.sabian.com

I must say it sound pretty good, very quiet and jazzy. I like it. I don't remember on wich of the 4 cymbals, but on one, the bell sound really crappy.

yes, but i would suggest the A Rock Ride more. higher cut than the earth ride.

BOBBY. god ****. i'm KILLING to find the hi hat sound from this e-kit in this video:
http://www.musicianforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=333950

i am NUTS over that open sound!

if you had to guess hats that were close, what would you say?

King 04-26-2005 09:26 PM

k thnx

bobby__johnny 04-28-2005 09:20 AM
if you had to guess hats that were close, what would you say?
hmm, well, its a Roland kit, and that would lead me to beleive that all sampled sounds are Sabian cymbals, and judging the tightness of that closed sound they arent your average pair. heres a few models that i can think of, and maybe try em yourself.

AA Fusion Hats, Flat Hats, Sizzle Hats
HHX Power Hats
AAX Fast hats, Fusion Hats
Hand Hammered Fusion Hats, EQ Hats

although, they are fairly bright sounding, so you can probably rule out the HHX and Hand Hammered Models.

Chippy569 04-28-2005 02:04 PM

fusion hats, i'll check those, thanks :D

bobby__johnny 04-28-2005 06:08 PM

really though, that could be ANY fast, tight sounding hat.

or it could have not been a direct sample, and a purely man made digi-sound.

basically, what i'm trying to say, is if you want to find a sound like it, try any and all small, vented or edged hi-hats.

Plan B. 04-28-2005 07:09 PM

Try some A Quick Beats too.

Murd_666 04-28-2005 08:19 PM

Does anyone know about the HH Feirce crashs, and are they ralated to the sig jojo mayer feirce crashes?

Epiphender 04-28-2005 10:24 PM

I like the Sabian Pro 20" ride a lot, but it sounds pretty quiet to me. Could someone suggest something that has a similar tone but can cut through? The Leopard ride sounds ideal on the website but I need something less expensive. It doesn't have to be Sabian.
