i suppose you guys are right...

Oz Rembrandt 08-07-2005 04:23 AM

Lilly! Chump! I love you guys...

/feels acceptence.

Now lets talk about the Trio. Anyone know Derek was taught drums by the Descendent's Bill Stevenson?

chumpradio 08-07-2005 04:25 AM

I did after reading that thread.
I was listening to Good Mourning for the first time in ages yesterday, and I never noticed how good Derek's drumming actually is on the album. I always thought he's a great drummer, but never realised he did it on the album as well as live and on Crimson.

Oz Rembrandt 08-07-2005 04:33 AM

Have you seen Live at the Metro? He puts down one of his sticks to take a drink of water halfway through playing, then carrys on with the other hand, before picking up his stick and carrying on!

I'm no drummer, but Im pretty sure THATS impressive.

chumpradio 08-07-2005 04:49 AM

Yeah, that's a great DVD.
That's the DVD that made me realise how amazing Derek is.
The trio have a tendency for decent drummers, Mike Felumlee was great as well, as was Glenn Porter (I think that's his name).

Oz Rembrandt 08-07-2005 05:40 AM

Yeah, he was Glenn Porter. The Drum Fill in Goodbye forever is a good example of his work, and Mike Felumlee got a good example on the intro to Take Lots with Alchohol.

Angry Balled Fists! 08-07-2005 05:43 AM

Yup, i think Derek is the best drummer though...

I love Crawl...

Oz Rembrandt 08-07-2005 07:04 AM

Me too.

Angry Balled Fists! 08-07-2005 10:23 AM

Yup, and i booked my tickets to see them at Nottingham today.

It will be my first gig. :D

From Here To Infirmery is good.

poprocks&coke 08-07-2005 03:53 PM

Dan - first gig ever? Or first Trio gig??

And From Here To Infirmary isn't just good, it's amazing. The first one I got = my favourite.

You guys probably knew that anyway.

chumpradio 08-07-2005 03:59 PM

All of Alk3's albums are amazing. Just some are more amazing than others.

poprocks&coke 08-07-2005 04:00 PM

Than their own? Or just more amazing than every other band's?

:D

CrimbleVan 08-07-2005 04:07 PM

I saw them twice this year. Once at Bamboozle and then on their Crimson tour. they were great both times

Oz Rembrandt 08-10-2005 04:19 AM

Woohoo!

Thats good to know.

chumpradio 08-10-2005 04:44 AM

Can you remember what songs they played?
Not the order, but just the songs if you can remember.

LoserFriendly 08-10-2005 04:52 AM

I fucking love the Trio. Seeing them in November, the day before my birthday, it's gonna be awesome. I love all their songs it just depends on my mood since I go through phases of being addicted to different songs.

At the moment it's Queen of Pain, Fatally Yours, If we never go inside.

I'm slightly disappointed with Crimson though, it's not a bad album, but it just lacks the quality that makes me want to listen to it all the way through whereas FHTI, Good Mourning etc are solid throughout.

LoserFriendly 08-10-2005 05:44 AM

If you listen to Enjoy Your Day, which is an awesome acoustic by Dan, at 0:45 in the song, Dan sings "My dear..." and he sounds like Kermit when he says "my". You have to listen to it twice and listen out, it's quite funny.

Angry Balled Fists! 08-10-2005 05:46 AM

He sounds like this crying through the whole of that song..

LoserFriendly 08-10-2005 05:48 AM

Not really, I think he was rather un-kermit like for the rest of the song unless you include his lisp at the beginning.

Angry Balled Fists! 08-10-2005 05:49 AM

He sounds pretty retarded throghout it.

I prefer it to the other acousitnc on that album though...
