The sample I just listened to was pretty good. I like the drumming and the guitar work especially.
|
I have "I, Monarch", it's aces.
Me And Him Call It Us is also ace but they get compared to The Locust too much. http://www.myspace.com/meandhimcallitus |
I don't think Me And Him Call It Us is anything like the Locust, they are 9458630956873409673456345690873 times better than the Locust in my opinion.
|
I pretty much agree with that.
My myspace is like a legion of grind bands that have added me, I've got The Binary Code and MAHCIU and Bodies In The Gears... they just keep coming. |
Bodies In The Gears rule. Definitely one of my favorite grind bands.

okay, i have read through the whole thread i think and have a few points. conflict and dropdead definitely aren't crust and neither is caustic christ. capitalist casualties i would consider powerviolence. ive been told that the varukers are not street but uk 82(whatever the **** that is) and decrepit, resist, deprived, disclose(d-beat i guess but kinda crusty), severed head of state(hardcore but id say leaning towards crust), detestation and what the hell? ill throw antischism out there.
|
Discharge were the first d-beat band, as that entire style is based off of ripping Discharge off. haha.
The band that's usually associated with the beginnings of crust would be Amebix although Deviated Instinct were one of the first bands to actually be called "crust punk." As for history, it, for the most part, started off in the UK from what I know with bands like Doom, Axe Grinder, Amebix, Deviated Instinct, etc. It was just heavy hardcore with extreme lyrics about political, aswell as socio-economic, issues. Although I has grown quite rapidly within the US. Notable cities for spewing out crust bands in the US have been the areas of Portland, OR with bands like Hellshock, Tragedy, Cut-Throat, etc. along with Austin, TX with bands like World Burns to Death, Severed Head of State, Mayday, Signal Lost, Century of War. There are alot more cities with good bands, but those are off the top of my head. Hope that helped.
Signal Lost don't really sound like crust but they were really cool when I saw them. |

I don't have Conflict on the list. Although I disagree on the point of Dropdead. They're, for the most part, crust. They have some elements of grind and thrash, but doesn't take away from the fact that they're a crust band. As for Caustic Christ, that was discussed in the thread already. I consider the Capitalist Casualties to be crust, although crust and powerviolence are very close genres, imo. Although if more people agree, say aye, and I'll take em off the list. UK82 is just an elitest name for old UK street punk bands, haha. As for the whole D-beat thing, honestly, D-beat is way too similar to crust to be off of this list. If needed I'll mark 'em to show that they're a d-beat band.
Signal Lost don't really sound like crust but they were really cool when I saw them.
They're more on the anarcho side of things to be honest, but there's really no anarcho scene in TX, so Ash and the gang hang out with all the crusties, so I tend to throw them in with the rest. Aside from the fact that alot of crusties that have heard Signal Lost like em alot. |
unholy grave
noothgrush |
Ash was hot. Oh that Crucifix shirt she was wearing......
|
.not to sound like a creep or anything but that was a realy cool crucifix shirt.
|
compare dropdead to other crust bands and then compare them to other thrash/ powerviolence bands like **** on the beach or crossed out and you will see that they lean more towards the thrash side. whatever they are i think it is safe to say they are one of the best.
|
oh, and i know you dont have conflict but 2 other people said conflict. sorry for the confusion
|
crust and powerviolence are very close but you can see the differences. nice list by the way, i for got to add that
