MRDuCran 12-05-2005 03:53 PM

Why, it's true.

IheartSP 12-05-2005 03:54 PM

He's just greedy cause people who steal his music deprive him of a total of the 5 dollars he would have made selling 100 records :p.

Shadows 12-05-2005 03:56 PM

He could use those 5 dollars. CoB is not a big band. They only seem that way because metal doesn't usually attract crowds like they do.

IheartSP 12-05-2005 04:03 PM

I think the band makes like 3 dollars a cd, which is about $.60 dollars a cd for each member. If lets say 10,000 albums are stolen each year each member loses $6000 a year. I'd guess from just albums alone each member makes about 50,000 a year, plus there are concert tickets, for Alexi signature gutiars, a million interviews, he probably pulls in about $100,000 a year, the other members probably not so much.

All those numbers came either out my *** or the computer calculator btw.

MRDuCran 12-05-2005 04:04 PM

He said if people want them to continue making albums, videos and singles and doing tours, stop stealing music otherwise they'll get no money to do that stuff, makes sense.

Shadows 12-05-2005 04:08 PM

It can't be that much. Interviews are most often done courtesy of the band with payment, and smaller bands like CoB don't make **** on concerts.

IheartSP 12-05-2005 04:14 PM

Yeah, in taht case they make less than my dad does between his office job and playing poker.

AA-12 12-05-2005 04:15 PM
Why?
I'm 100% for downloading music.

Shadows 12-05-2005 04:19 PM

They probably do. Being in a band is a job that isn't the least bit high paying, especially metal.
I'm 100% for downloading music.
Me too, but I'm also 100% for purchasing. Downloading for me is a great way to sample music and find new stuff, but downloading and burning CD's without ever buying and supporting the band just seems wrong to me.

AA-12 12-05-2005 04:45 PM

I download way too much, haha. I have about 20 gigs of downloaded music currently.

Poofy 666 12-05-2005 05:07 PM

if i download a cd and i like the band i buy their merch and go to their shows.

MRDuCran 12-05-2005 05:08 PM

ok so i downloaded those nine inch nails songs and i hated them

i knew i would not my kind of music at all

Shadows 12-05-2005 05:12 PM
CoB a small band? explain... i wanna hear some arguments
I'd like to hear how they are considered big. Typical mainstream bands and artists sell millions and millions of records, and that's expected. CoB has never sold more than a few hundred thousand. That few hunred thousand may be a lot for the metal world, but in the general music scene that's pathetic.

If you consider that "big" then you're a little out of perspective.

ok, i agree... i thought you meant: small in the metal scene.
in comparison to pop music they don't sell a lot of records... but which metal band does, except of Metallica

Hell no. They're one of the biggest bands in the metal scene right now.

Anyone who doesn't like NIN just can't appreciate good music. :p

I'm Charming 12-05-2005 05:57 PM

I download alot. 17GB I think. Most of that is purchased though. Maybe 1/4.

I do support the band though. I go to shows. Pick up a shirt or something.

Plus I constatly whore all the bands I love!

Word of mouth is something they benifit from.

Plus I'd be careful about buying any CD these days after what came out about Sony.
I don't listen to anything on Sony but I wouldn't be shocked if other labels did that.

(Sony is getting sued by the state of texes, a comsumer group, and most likely by my state of Oregon!)

words of wisdom :D

Shadows 12-05-2005 05:58 PM

What did Sony do?

I have 5GB downloaded, plus over 100 CDs. I buy as much as I can, but even with a job I don't have that much money.

was the AYDY? record released under sony?

Shadows 12-05-2005 06:04 PM

No. Sony is an electronics company, not a record label.

But what's the deal with them?

Huber 12-05-2005 06:05 PM

If a CD is worth your 15 bucks, pay the 15 bucks. If not, I'd say download it. You weren't going to spend that money anyways right?

I think people, especially MXers, seek so many CDs that if they buy when they can, they can still download a lot and never stop purchasing CDs. I haven't. I spent my money on AYDY?

repcak 12-05-2005 06:22 PM

when i am sure that the record would be great and i want to support a band i buy the CD.
i bought AYDY, a perfect circle - 13th step, with_teeth - nin, and i will buy tool... i am not sure if i should be the new in flames...

blue3 12-05-2005 07:32 PM

I don't download anymore, cause my computer sucks and has no space for anything. My other computer only has 1000+songs and I own around 100 albums.

I bought AYDY though, cause um, Bodom rules.

Shadows 12-05-2005 08:17 PM

I bought it too. :)

Online ordering = \m/

AA-12 12-05-2005 08:22 PM

I still need to get it.

Shadows 12-05-2005 08:24 PM

You bastard.

blue3 12-05-2005 08:29 PM

Get it now. I'm sure you've at least downloaded it..?
