i have come to love megadeth over my last 6 months and have never really posted in here.being as i havent been on the forums in awhile,i would like to say hello to all.randomly,my favorite megadeth songs would be
looking down the cross
a secret place
tornado of souls
of mice and men
good mourning/black friday
liar
in my darkest hour
forclosure of a dream
i could go on

Looking Down the Cross has been my favorite Megadeth song for a while now too.

Chu 03-22-2006 10:09 PM

I swear Looking Down The Cross has the same 'breakdown' riff as Metallica's Ride The Lightning.

I have, I think the remastered version of this song (I downloaded the album individually, so I could have songs from different versions), where his vocals are actually pretty good. It is also one of my favourite Megadeth songs (Although, I still think the whole album So far, So Good, So What... is Megadeth's best).

I'm listening to that song right now. I'll have to listen to RTL right after to compare.

I'm not a huge fan of So Far, So Good, So What...

EDIT: Okay so I'm at the slow breakdowny part around 2:40 of RTL and I really don't see similarity, I'm waiting for it to continue on.

You just haven't listened to it enough.

This is actually true, I've only listened to it fully through twice.

Okay, so RTL is basically over, I couldn't hear similarity.

Chu 03-22-2006 10:20 PM

I think it might only be me who sees the similarity, because I posted here before, i think, and people told me to GTFO :p

You really should listen to it more... Liar was the first song from the album that got me really hooked, and then Mary Jane (Probably my favourite Megadeth song at the moment, being a fairly heavy Marijuana user, I dunno, I just really like this song (Maybe I relate to it?)..)

Edit: At about 3:55 in Looking Down The Cross, I reckon there's a similarity, but I don't know, maybe I just want there to be?

Bazarov 03-22-2006 10:25 PM

I'm bored, I'll re-listen to the songs. Then I guess tonight I'll listen to SFSGSW again. I remember really likeing In My Darkest Hour.

Chu 03-22-2006 10:31 PM

There's so many quality songs on the album :chug:

It does, because Dave wrote that part of Ride The Lightning and wanted to use it.

SFSGSW isnt as good as the other albums, but ive learned to enjoy it. into the lungs of hell is a great instrumental.

Jev 03-23-2006 04:15 AM

I think Into the Lungs of Hell is underrated, it kicks ass.

Apocalyptic Raids 03-23-2006 04:50 AM

SFSGSW really takes time to appreciate. I never used to like it much either.

Chu 03-23-2006 05:48 AM
It does, because Dave wrote that part of Ride The Lightning and wanted to use it.
I've always thought that :p

Edit: I mean, it's just so damn good, you'd be a fool not to use it yourself.

it sure does, and yeah loads of people told me how "crap" Into The Lungs was, but i listened to it for myself and really enjoyed it

Rattlehead 03-23-2006 02:18 PM

does anyone know anything about a new Deth album then??

Jev 03-23-2006 02:20 PM

Well, we've heard no news but there should be one soon.

Rattlehead 03-23-2006 02:55 PM

good-good. :thumb:

superflyjojo 03-23-2006 03:21 PM

Anyone heard anything new about Gigantour 2? I went last year and it was awesome.

NP: Megadeth - Kick The Chair

Drone 03-23-2006 03:22 PM

On the Megadeth Forums, Dave said that we will know some of the bands at the start of April.

Bazarov 03-23-2006 03:27 PM

Set the World Afire is great. Chu, I'm not finished listening to this album, but in a while I will be.

Damn. I can't wait that long! I've heard rumors of Judas Priest, Exodus, Testament, and Anthrax. If so then I will have to go cause it sounds like a thrash/speed metal fest. And such a show would give me a massive erection.

NP: Cryptopsy - Defenestration

Rattlehead 03-23-2006 03:34 PM

hah ilmao. i may have to go too, having seen such a line-up. but first i will need to know what gigantour is. like where/when. anyone?

Bazarov 03-23-2006 03:37 PM

Did gigantour even go out of North America?
I'll have to go again, and if there is another meet and greet, I'm so doing it.

Drone 03-23-2006 03:39 PM

I don't think Judas Priest will be on it because Megadeth could not headline over Judas Priest. Exodus or Testament would not be bad at all. I am not a fan of Anthrax, though...sorry. If I could pick I would love to have Dream Theater again or Opeth. I would cream myself if the co-headliner was Opeth. There is also a strong chance that Devil Driver will be on it, they have been alluding to it.

Lord Abortion 03-23-2006 04:41 PM

I'd love if Gigantour came over here.

'Deth and Priest and Exodus are so much better than the crap they have at Download.

Opeth would be awesome, I can't stand Devildriver though.

Jev 03-23-2006 04:46 PM

I think Megadeth could headline over Priest...
