I listened to it. The tone of that opening part was annoying. The rest was good.

Shred Danson 06-07-2005 02:06 PM

My laptop over there has a mic, we'll have to do a guitar battle sometime. :)
Ah, I'm friends with Dutch Belgians and full Dutch. They hate the Flemish. There's all sorts of stuff going on with that. They think that Flemish Belgians are literally retarded. It's kind of an amusing situation actually. :)
I think you're confused. Flemish Belgians, such as myself, speak Dutch. I think you're thinking of Walloons, who speak French? And to hate them would be pretty stupid.

Really? The guy I talked to must be confused, as I thought Flemish was its own language. Perhaps there's strife between Netherlands Dutch and Belgian Dutch? I'm a little shaky on it, as I don't remember the conversation exactly. Sorry for making an asshat of myself. :(

So, what's it like being deaf? :thumb:

Cain 06-07-2005 03:56 PM
Heh, why dont you get into a band? Im sure plenty of people want a great guitarist like yourself.
It's a matter of finding people that actually want to play what I write. At an artsy school like the one I go to, everyone's into indie rock, not metal. And there's a surprisingly low proportion of instrument players to begin with: lots of folk strummers, but not many capable drummers or bassists that aren't already in like three bands.
So, what's it like being deaf? :thumb:
Sucks as much **** as a Saigon whore in any given weekend night.

I'm actually sort of used to only hearing with one ear now. The drops are breaking up the wax, but I'm no longer so concerned about going to work with this condition. I'll be a trainee anyway, and they'll go easier on me than usual. I just hoped to be in top form on my first day, and unfortunately I won't be, exactly. :/

Well yeah, we speak Flemish, but it's no more than a dialect version of Dutch. It's just a little something to feel different from the Dutch. Maybe your Dutch friends hated Flemish people, sometimes we don't get along. But we're usually alright, love/hate relationship. :)

The timing, just a few mistakes and stuff, and the straight single beat fills. Ive been drumming for a long time and i know some awesome drummers so im abit to critical. WHY WONT HOTMAIL WORK!!! I NEED TO CHECK MY E-MAILS GODDAMIT!

Cain 06-07-2005 04:59 PM
It wasn't so much that it was easy. It was the fact that we got answers.

I'm of the Gothic school of horror fiction. It's much scarier when we don't get an answer. Even works outside of the Gothic tradition focus on ambiguity. Take Shirley Jackson's "The Lottery" for example. Excellent short story. Chilling social commentary. And no explanation is ever given for the eponymous lottery.

But also take a look at Neo-Gothic film like Halloween and Psycho. Even when our protagonists attempt an explanation, we find out there's more to it than they ever imagined. Instead of an explanation, what we're really getting is a slight scratching at the surface. We think we've seen the monster, but all we really saw was one of its claws.

That's where real horror comes from.
Have you read any of Ray Bradbury's horror? It's quite eerie: you may like it.

No, the ones I met were nice, but they thought the general feeling was that Dutch think Flemish are weird, or that their dialect is weird, or something, and that it's reciprocated. :) It's clear to me now that I have less an idea of what I'm talking about than I did when I originally started, so maybe I'll just quit. Meh. *shrugs* :p

Well, yeah, the pronunciations are totally different. I think the Dutch think that we talk like peasants or something and we like to make fun of their pronunciations too, yeah.

I think it's like everyone laughing at the Australians' pronunciation of English. Because, you know, it's just funny, mate.

Well, I'm off to bed. Exam tomorrow about 6,000 pages of which I have read none. Should be interesting. :)

Later yo.

Jom 06-07-2005 05:26 PM

6,000 pages is quite a lot of reading.

Here's an outline of Jelle's all-nighter study session:

/Jelle reads 20 pages

Jelle thinks, "Hmm, time for teh alcohol."

/Jelle drinks a half-bottle

Jelle posts on MX, "Wpah !"

/Jelle sleeps

/Jelle takes exam

///

Either way, good luck with your exam.

Yes the dog is back!!

ATM 06-07-2005 05:44 PM

I just cleaned out my disgusting car, and then had another jam session.

Warning: GF problem ahead -

So I call my girlfriend last night and she was acting like a huge bitch. Just acting really stand-offish. I asked why she was acting like that, and she said it's just because she was really tired. I just shrugged it off, but then today she is still acting the same way, even though she claimed she is fine.

If something is wrong, she never wants to tell me. I have to keep asking and asking, and I hate doing that :/
