Dr. Jake Destructo 05-30-2005 10:41 PM

I wasn't actually considering Third Eye. It is so far beyond anything I've ever attempted. :p

Kage 05-30-2005 10:41 PM

Regardless, I'm going to get going on the Stinkfist guitar part. Has anyone picked up drum duties for that one yet?

Sleeper 05-30-2005 10:43 PM

No, I dont want to do 3 covers.

Dr. Jake Destructo 05-30-2005 10:44 PM

Ken.

Oh. nvm. :p
He told me that he had the electric drum intro all worked out and everything. Maybe he'll magically upload Stinkfist so we can stop fretting about the drumming and get on the with the rest of the song.

Sleeper 05-30-2005 10:45 PM

That would sound cool.

Moses 05-30-2005 10:53 PM

Where are the uploads? Are they even still working?

Moses 05-30-2005 11:01 PM

Heh, I like how the whole forum is fretting about this contest.

Anyway I'm out for the night.

Night everybody.

Kage 05-30-2005 11:03 PM

No kidding?

Sleeper 05-30-2005 11:05 PM

I have to find a way to record, Then it would only take me a day to record both songs.

Kage 05-30-2005 11:07 PM

Ooh. Drums are the hardest thing to record. It'll sound like shit without the proper equipment.

Sleeper 05-30-2005 11:13 PM

Well ill see what i can do, Any sugestions?

Huber 05-30-2005 11:16 PM

If you are using a microphone, try every position you can to get the best quality. It helps a lot. Of course, a set of drum mics will always be the best.

Sleeper 05-30-2005 11:29 PM

I have about 3 drum mics

Kage 05-30-2005 11:31 PM

Oh. Well then it should be no problem.

Ill start a mass upload of all of JoZ's bass lines. Two have no drums to them (Jerk off and Cold And Ugly). Watch this space

Including:

Disposition teaser
Ænema
Cold And Ugly
Eulogy
Jerk Off
Part Of Me
Sober
Stinkfist

clearvision 05-31-2005 05:15 AM

Shouldn't we leave this thing open, setting up line-ups is a bit wierd...

We know JoZ is doing bass, ken is doing drums, and whoever does vox is doing them...

If we can get those 3 laid down, guitarists can just lay their part down over the top. I can play all of the songs, it's just getting the tone and time to sit down and work at something. (exams are over in a week :D)

NP : JoZ's demo, <3 bass fill in wait for me :D

Adam Jones is GOD 05-31-2005 05:18 AM

Thats the only track that didnt upload properly for me :(
(hopes JoZ will upload again)

I still say if you want to do any tool track, record it, throw it up on here, and ill see what I can do with it. Ill take any guitar tracks at this stage. (and if you want to mix them yourself, then at least upload the guitar track so I can start fiddling)

I think for us Brits anyway, this will be on hiatus for a few weeks, what with exams for some, and DOWNLOAD FESTIVAL for others

clearvision 05-31-2005 05:23 AM

I have been on hiatus for months, my revision started early this year...

/no life

When people are recording are they changing their tone? Like from clean flange + delay to distortion etc? 'Cause my FX pedal is so sh!t i can only really play with one tone...Unless i record clean and you can jazz up my part with effects ben? Is that what you mean by mixing? Or just putting the parts together

Adam Jones is GOD 05-31-2005 05:29 AM

I mean by putting together bass, guitar and drums, levelling out the sound so they all compliment, layering sections that are needed, cleaning up any fuzz, sorting out correct panning, and other tweaks.

However, I might be able to add some effects, but its something i've not done before. You could ask Jake, as he uses Audacity effects a bit with his tone, so he might offer some advice.

And while exams are the subject, I wish you and any other exam takers the best of luck (thank god im past all them now)

Spiritofmosa 05-31-2005 06:15 AM

how do apc look live, when they play songs from emotive other then passive.. the guitar can hardly be heard and other instruments are used

Adam Jones is GOD 05-31-2005 06:18 AM

They dont play eMOTIVE live. They never toured for it, and I dont think there will be any plans to. Thankfully.

Spiritofmosa 05-31-2005 06:27 AM

how about other un-heavy songs

Adam Jones is GOD 05-31-2005 06:31 AM

Well the only 'un-heavy' song that they play live is The Noose (im assuming thats what you're getting at). And for that, MJK takes up a guitar, and sometimes James has a Keyboard set up for the intro. And its hit or miss whether its a masterpiece, or a noisy failure.

Apart from that, I dont think there are any other songs that require more than the 2 guitars, bass, drums and vox combo.

clearvision 05-31-2005 06:33 AM

Am i the only one that actually likes eMOTIVE :( I was dissapointed, but i still can listen to the album, there are some great moments there.

I really need to find a patch site for my pedal, then i should be sorted i think....everythings just waaaay to trebly atm.

Cheers for the good luck, i need it :(

...and good luck to anyone else with exams :)

Spiritofmosa 05-31-2005 06:35 AM

wierd.. i prefer 13th steps.. it has this deep feeling..
go back to sleep

kurrpt 05-31-2005 07:54 AM

im actually a huge fan of emotive. As far as hearing them live, when i saw them last year, it was the BEST concert ive been to.

/never seen tool live :(

nah noose aint heavy, pet and judith are the heaviest i heard
what genre is apc anyway.

kurrpt 05-31-2005 08:04 AM

the hollow is pretty hard

gimmie gimmie offa their cover album is too

clearvision 05-31-2005 08:07 AM

Apc - Art rock...prog rock...something along those lines

I don't like eMOTIVE better than mer de noms or thirteenth step, but i just think it's too heavily critiscised at times.
