Their bassist is moving to Ohio and he's one of the founding members.

And they probably sound familiar cause Trivium totally ripped off a couple of their riffs.

masscows 12-03-2007 07:52 PM

I've only heard like one song by Trivium, but what I meant by them sounding familiar is that their genre sounds like it could be something I've heard before but at the same time it's very difficult to place into any specific genre.

i am the robots 12-03-2007 07:53 PM

theyre too ill to be defined

Eliminator 12-03-2007 08:18 PM

they're too ill-defined

masscows 12-03-2007 08:30 PM

Is Beyond the Sixth Seal worth checking out?

Moon Flavor 12-03-2007 09:09 PM

Mappy should upload a hacksaw album for me chyea...

On the subject of death metal: How does everyone feel about Wormed? I always found them to be too...loud (?) before, but I'm really getting into them now.

Tyler 12-03-2007 09:11 PM

I love Wormed, I wish the production on Planaespherium (if I'm wrong, I'm going on memory here) made the guitars a little clearer, a lot is lost.

Yeah, that was my initial turnoff. All of the riffs seem to blend together horribly at first listen.

They're decent. The vocals need to get varied, though.

Tyler 12-03-2007 09:40 PM

The vocals are amazing, I dont know what you expect. Not every vocalist has to do 4000 things.

LifeInABox 12-03-2007 09:42 PM

No, but one single significantly tiring, getting to be irritating vocal style done for half an hour on every song gets annoying and boring.

Angmar 12-03-2007 09:44 PM

Yeah, I really don't like Wormeds' vocals. :(

Funnily enough, started blasting Planisphaerium prior to entering this thread; good stuff.

Jondur 12-04-2007 07:36 AM

Not death metal but not really black metal either so I'm putting this in here.

So the new Primordial is the best album this year. Easily.

I've been a fan since "Journey's End" and they've been getting better and better with each release. "To the Nameless Dead" is easily their crowning glory. It's dark, epic, brutal, passionate and melodic. It's all things to all men.

In a nutshell: its fcuking brilliant.

donteatpieontuesday 12-04-2007 07:45 AM

yes it is quite good, not the best this year though, imo the apostsy does it for me

7SOR 12-04-2007 08:11 AM

Just grabbed Anata's "The Conductor's Departure" this morning, pretty damn satisfied.

i want it really bad, especially when i hear stuff like this abou it. i don't know why i haven't gotten it yet but i will very soon.
and i listened to the first half of Osculum before i fell asleep last night and its pretty ****ing awesome. i never knew Hypocrisy had it in 'em.

AA-12 12-04-2007 10:55 AM

I think it's good and all but not near amazing yet. I think a big problem with it is how long some of the songs are.

pate 12-04-2007 11:33 AM

What? Josh doesn't think something is the best album of all time??/????????????//?

Deth 12-04-2007 12:38 PM

I'm listening to it now for the first time. I'm very impressed.
imo the apostsy does it for me
Really?

So my next purchase is the new Primordial huh? Alrighty, I shall do thy bidding.

rattlehead42147 12-04-2007 01:10 PM

same.

The Apostasy is average imo. You all know me as the NM fanboy around here and even i think WD's guest wails on there suck. The only thing i liked on the album was that kind of flamenco sounding thing on one of the tracks.

masterchaos 12-04-2007 01:17 PM

You check out Skeletonwitch yet rattle?

rattlehead42147 12-04-2007 01:55 PM

nope. its on the top of half of a really long list though :)

edit: formed in Athens, Ohio
they're not too far from me haha

masterchaos 12-04-2007 01:59 PM

Hey wait, didnt you send me that nunslaughter? I guess I could return the favor with SW

masscows 12-04-2007 02:09 PM

The Apostasy isn't too good. Half of the songs are solid (not too great, but solid) and the other half have some good riffs but are really repetitive and tiresome or are just plain dull.

Invicta_Veritas 12-04-2007 02:17 PM

If we are talking about Behemoth, that was probably the most boring Behemoth to date.

Tyler 12-04-2007 02:18 PM

I like it more than Demigod purely for the reason that I can listen to it without laughing hysterically.

Invicta_Veritas 12-04-2007 02:19 PM

Yea, you've got that big thing against 32 layers of vocals as I remember, yea?

I think the best was Satanica.

masscows 12-04-2007 02:21 PM

Zos Kia Cultus>Demigod>Thelema.6>Pandemonic Incantations>The Apostasy=Satanica>The rest aside from Grom>Grom

imo

Cool. Not bad. What's up with the dinosaurs, though?

pate 12-04-2007 03:39 PM

They're metal and Christmassy.
