Haven't heard it.

I'm guessing my user name reminded him that he wanted to check them out.
They're 1337, shredded 1337, shredded and 1337.
Ok, listening to 'em now. And I can stand it for sure. This shit is epic as fuck.

I miss listening to Power Metal a lot :(
Rhapsody are musical cocaine.

edit: actually, Cocaine is musical cocaine. Sorry, dude :smash:

Umm, I suppose Rhapsody is like acid and heroine. Yeah.

Surtr 01-28-2008 03:36 PM

Haha agreed.

Also the bit of Tyr that's in Foroese is sick as ****.

What're the odds someone could tell me about or hook me up with a band that's good and does their stuff completely in Norwegian/Finnish/Swedish or possibly even Icelandic or Foroese.

Its sick shit.
Umm, I suppose Rhapsody is like acid and heroine. Yeah.
Rhapsody is the shiznit.
I will refrain from adding the "of Fire" part so Cocaine doesn't get his panties in a bunch. lol, jk.

Surtr 01-28-2008 03:38 PM

Rhapsody of Fire is SUCH a better name.

Tyler 01-28-2008 03:38 PM

You can only say it if you say

rhapody OF FIRE!!!!

Deth 01-28-2008 03:40 PM

With an extended dramatic pause in the middle of course.

Tyler 01-28-2008 03:42 PM

And OF FIRE!!! has to be a real high falsetto wail.

Surtr 01-28-2008 03:44 PM

Hahaha.

I've now gotta' re-read the 202 Rules Of Power Metal.

Just because today has been a Power Metal Re-induction for me.
And OF FIRE!!! has to be a real high falsetto wail.
Who would be the proper vocalist to base it off of? Fabio or Heiman?

Deth 01-28-2008 04:10 PM

Doesn't matter as long as it's a ridiculously high falsetto. Harmonizing with yourself is a positive as well.

Poet 01-28-2008 04:25 PM

Maybe having a ridiculously high falsetto, harmonizing yourself many a times, and adding a full orchestra.

That is epic right there.

English permeates everything these days, so such a band will be hard to find. Windir did a lot of their songs in Sognamĺl, a Norwegian dialect. Finntroll write in Old Swedish, which is 1337.

Finnish is almost entirely unrelated to those other languages, btw. It sounds totally different as well.

One thing you can do is type in a Google query like 'site:darklyrics.com mig' ('mig' means 'me' in several Scandinavian languages and almost unambiguously belongs to them) and then start evaluating the bands that come up. Shining are kind of gay IMO.

Other words you might use in a query like that are idk other personal pronouns like 'jag', 'jeg', 'mitt' etc. Really basic stuff.

ZapatoDiablo 01-28-2008 10:13 PM

I think Moonsorrow only sings in Finnish or some dialect thereof. Everyone already listens to them though. It's still pretty intense when the music breaks off and they'll just scream out some gnarly sounding line in Finnish.

Grumma 01-28-2008 11:55 PM

yo was wondering if someone could help me find this band. I remember them being mentioned on the forum before (possibly had their own thread for a lil while).
From memory they were power metal but with a more traditional metal sound.
They had 2 vocalists, one of which sung in a falsetto similar to Halford's on Painkiller (song) and the other had harsher vocals. From memory they were really cheesy as well.

If you can't figure what I'm on about don't stress too much lol

Tyler 01-28-2008 11:57 PM

3 Inches of Blood

Grumma 01-29-2008 12:02 AM

That's the one!
I think. Should probably listen before jumping to the conclusion but thanks in advance!

*edit*
and if you want epic listen to the Gettysburg trilogy. although, as the 202 rules of power metal point out it isn't a fictional place (or something along those lines anyway)

Steerpike 01-29-2008 02:35 AM

So I've decided to undertake what is simultaneously the most ambitious and pretentious songwriting endeavor I've attempted yet.

I'm attempting to write a multi-part power metal epic of Robert E Howard's "The Scarlet Citadel".

Never heard of it, but if it's going to be a multi-part power metal epic, well I am excited for you.

pate 01-29-2008 07:47 AM

Steerpike is the most ambitious person known to man.

My plans of world domination through pancake breakfast are proof enough of that.

Shattered_Future 01-29-2008 04:55 PM

That just may work...

pate 01-29-2008 05:10 PM

I wouldn't doubt his chances.

Steerpike 01-29-2008 08:43 PM

If you guys help me in said plan I'll let you rule over a European country of your choice. With the exception of Finland.

Shattered_Future 01-29-2008 08:44 PM

Shot Sweden. Maybe then I can finally take down IKEA.

So, one of my quasi-metalhead friends is bringing a few of her friends to a Sonata Arctica show in Connecticut for her birthday. I wouldn't be too worried, but Sanctity is opening, and they're all like 5 feet tall, except for the metalhead one.

I have a feeling she's gonna return at least one of them home in a bodybag.

:( Finland is my favorite. I guess since Shattered wants Sweden, I may take Italy. Rhapsody of FIRE!!!!! is from there, and Italy is awesome anyways.

Shadows Within 01-29-2008 10:04 PM

I'll take Norway

1338 h4x0r 01-29-2008 10:09 PM
I'll take Norway
*sigh* alright, Norway is already taken. In that case, I'll conquer the Faroe Islands by beaching a fishing trawler there, which will leave precious little room for the inhabitants ... I might be able to push them off the edge with a pole.

As far as I know, the current and former members of Týr are the only people who live on the Faroes amirite?
