just listened to new church of misery, so good

jrowa001 04-03-2009 09:56 PM
I thought I was the only one who whacked to Candlemass.
i love their first 4 albums, but i will admit i dont listen to them a whole lot. Nightfall is what i listen to the most though. their last 2 albums dont do much for me though. is the new one better than those?

MMMBop 04-03-2009 10:06 PM

i need weed right now.

Ventriloquist 04-04-2009 01:57 AM

I really like their latest stuff with Rob Lowe. First I thought it would sound too much like Solitude Aeturnus but it just doesn't. Ofc I love EDM and some other early stuff with Messiah.

rasputin: yeah that album is amazing.

The bass player sent Wino a message for me because he is his touring bassist right now. Possibility of getting the whole new band in there for a set. They cover Hidden Hand, Spirit Caravan, and The Obsessed :D

joshmay 04-04-2009 08:22 AM

you should try to do that!

i knew i had heard of unorthodox before...

ATM 04-04-2009 08:25 AM

Unorthodox killed it last night. Dale Flood was wearing this awesome Dopethrone shirt. I can upload just the songs if people want to hear it. They also gave me an Unorthodox shirt and an old album from the 80's when they were called Asylum.

pate 04-04-2009 08:43 AM

I'll be listening tot he show later today. :p
i love their first 4 albums, but i will admit i dont listen to them a whole lot. Nightfall is what i listen to the most though. their last 2 albums dont do much for me though. is the new one better than those?
The self-titled Candlemass ****ing sucks. KOTGI is pretty good, but has too much filler.
The new one is much better than either of the previous two.

FatalEnergy 04-04-2009 02:39 PM

Heiling some Worship. 'Tis good.

rasputin 04-04-2009 07:15 PM

heil.

which album?

Bukowski 04-05-2009 09:45 PM

any of you wanting a ticket for ATP: The Fans Strike Back?

I've got one i need to sell, willing to sell for less than face-value. I'm sure you're all aware that Electric Wizard, Sleep, Harvey Milk, Jesus Lizard, Jesu, etc are playing. Let me know if you're interested.

I can't go because I have an exam during it... suffice to say, I'm slightly (very) disappointed!

Shattered_Future 04-05-2009 09:52 PM

If I lived across the pond I'd take that. :(

Late, but new Church Of Misery is awesome.

Bukowski 04-05-2009 09:54 PM

I just downloaded that actually (new CoM) on a whim, never actually heard any of their prior releases. Gonna listen to it soon though.

And yeah I guess this is mainly directed at people within the UK, but anyone who's interested just let me know here :)

rasputin 04-05-2009 10:51 PM

joshmay 04-07-2009 06:36 PM

maybe theyve already been discussed but im just gettin into this band called NADJA that have been at it a while apparently. this 2007 album guilted by the sun is so fuckin heavy!

ATM 04-07-2009 07:38 PM

Yeah a bunch of us here worship Nadja.

joshmay 04-07-2009 07:42 PM

whats your favorite album / collab of theirs?

ATM 04-07-2009 07:46 PM

Some of my favorites:

Guilted by the Sun
Desire in Uneasiness
Radiance of Shadows
Truth Becomes Death
Bodycage

joshmay 04-07-2009 07:49 PM

the new one with black boned angel is badass... ill check some of those you listed out.

ATM 04-07-2009 07:50 PM

Check out their split with Moss, too.

rasputin 04-08-2009 07:20 AM
i am downloading dooom, never heard the band before.
awesome, i hope you enjoy it.

Shattered_Future 04-08-2009 04:32 PM

I've been digging this release that's a collaboration between Aidan Baker and thisquietarmy. Some solid drone stuff on there. Very relaxing...it's great to zone out to late at night.

Ventriloquist 04-08-2009 04:43 PM

If you like Aidan Baker check out Whisper Room.

rasputin 04-08-2009 05:55 PM

I reviewed that last week. Decent album but pretty standard.

joshmay 04-08-2009 09:32 PM

heil yeah this worship album is so awesome...knowing the story behind it makes it that much more grim. im only two songs in but this is definitely classic doom metal. thanks raspberry

rasputin 04-09-2009 02:58 AM

one of my favourite doom albums :)
if you liked it (which i guess you did), get their first album Last CD Before Doomsday. It's a little rawer, but pretty awesome.

the2stranger 04-09-2009 01:40 PM

Nadja?
I like.

My favorites:
Thaumogenesis
Body Cage
Truth Becomes Death

Andifyou're looking for an awesome collab:
Merell, Baker, Jordan - Nagual.
It has Baker on guitar and the other two using short wave radio, creating awesome ambient drone noise.

Ventriloquist 04-09-2009 03:00 PM

Gotta check that collab album out.

ATM 04-09-2009 06:38 PM

Time 04-09-2009 07:15 PM

Wino was pretty awesome when I saw him, King Giant kinda sucked though.

Tyler 04-09-2009 08:13 PM

This is the closest we have to a traditional heavy metal thread, so yeah. Downloading a promo of the new Cauldron (ex-Goat Horn) release now. Heil.

Deth 04-10-2009 05:03 PM

New Heaven and Hell is legit imo

putting it here because I'm lazy

FatalEnergy 04-10-2009 05:08 PM

Getting that **** right now.

Edit: This **** is legit. My favorite album so far this year. Better than Candlemass or Beherit.

Phototropic 04-11-2009 05:22 AM

got a new band going
very rough at the moment, we're still just jamming new tunes and stuff

check us out

www.myspace.com/shamanritual

:)

comity 04-11-2009 11:39 AM

why is the audio only in the left channel

ATM 04-11-2009 03:09 PM

New Church of Misery is ****ing awesome.

RagingNoob 04-11-2009 04:25 PM

Anybody into Virgin Black? They're a (very) symphonic doom band from Adelaide. I saw them support Opeth in Sydney last year and they gave them one hell of a run for their money.

I have an album of theirs called Requiem: Mezzo Forte. They released another one last year, but I haven't heard that one yet (apart from at the gig).
