In other news, real book arrived today. Looks complicated but that's good, it means I'm gonna learn a shit load just going through it with this sax player (he can explain anything to me that I don't understand), and get to make some sweet sweet music at the same time. Life is good.

Aside from that, I'm being converted from being a lifelong Nintendo owner (apart from my first console, which was a Sega Mega Drive) to being an Xbox kinda guy. Primarily because Xbox has the Fable series tbh.

i share an xbox and a wii with a mate back in london and have a ps3 up here. i only really play mega man nowadays to blow off steam but i use the ps3 a lot for streaming, and i think move looks pretty good.

also i still play final fantasy games as they come out.

the xbox kinect is already working on pcs cracked it already

its 150eu for the kinect system, terribly overpriced


also i was an avid sony ps kinda guy till splintercell/halo was out on the xbox, love those games, and i prefare the 360 over ps3

nintendo really broke the mould with the wii, having been into it since the atari first came out i thought i wouldn't be surprised by much but the wii really did impress. not just the usual improvemts in graphics and stuff but just a totally different way of enjoying games. i'm kind of convincing myself here..!

i got pretty bored with the wii, pretty cool to have but for a normal console it just gets annoying having to move to do shit sometimes

If you get a Wii, you should definitely get Smas Bros Brawl. You can get some pretty epic matches going when you've got a few people round.

the wii is pretty good if you like all those flash games you see on the internet. it's basically that with a crappy remote with terrible tracking.

also, to whoever recommended the original fat ps3s, keep in mind that they have a higher failure rate than the new slim models (can't play ps2 games, but can play ps1 games just like the fats). I have a 60gb fat that had the YLOD, fixed it, but then the bluray drive died. for whatever reason you can't play download games without the bluray. it's super gay. whenever i am not poor I will buy a ps3 slim to replace it.

once you get games like uncharted you'll never have the desire to play a ps2 game again, so keep that in mind.

I still like the majority of the music I've ever liked, but with a lot of it (nu metal stuff, Dream Theater, etc) I find I like them because of nostalgia and if I had discovered them recently I probably wouldn't enjoy them as much.

As far as I know the only ps3's with the backwards compatibility were the 60GB, 4 USB slot ones. But they also were the less efficient ones that had problems with overheating and don't run as smoothly as the newer ones.

Wiis are only good for smash bros, mariokart, mario galaxy and the new goldeneye.

there are two models of ps3 with ps2 backward compatibility: the 60gb and the 20gb. both which were available at launch.

As far as I'm concerned, the console market is kinda in a bad way. The wii has awesome potential that it just doesn't deliver on because of it's tendancy towards casual games (ever played Metroid Prime 3? if more games on the wii were like that....) and the difficulty in mapping motion control sensibly really restricts popular game franchises for the wii.

The fact that playstation 3 USED to have backwards compatability and now doesn't sounds like an almost apple-esque arbitrary restriction on their own hardware, and the playstation move is just another one jumping on the bandwagon, but this time with a light-up multicolour bellend controller.

Xbox - admittedly I've always been a nintendo guy but the new one is undeniably the best of the lot, but I really can't see any potential for the kinect and tha hardware issues that have plagued it have really affected the second-hand market for the hardware.

Unless the next gen of games consoles is particularly awesome, I can imagine the quality of console gaming reducing dramatically. Sadly it already has for the wii, what with EVERY FUCKING GAME on the shelf being some movie or tv tie-in money-spinner with the depth of a spoon. Honestly, I'm actually almost embarrased to own a wii. Nintendo need to sort themselves out before they completely alienate the mature gaming market.

they took out backwards compatibility on ps3 because it raised prices unnecessarily. they still sell ps2s, so if you really want to play a ps2 game, just go buy one for $50 or whatever they cost now. buying a new ps3 PLUS a ps2 is cheaper than it was to buy a ps3 that had backwards compatibility. also the psmove is infinitely more accurate than the wiimote (which isn't really saying much since the wiimote has terrible tracking) and also SECONDARY focus on the ps3. which means we'll still get a ton of games that don't suck, unlike the wii.

xbox360 is good if you like to own a console to play games that are also on pc.

wii is just trash. even the new super mario bros game sucks a big one compared to the old school ones. the best part about wii is virtual console, but the limited selection makes it meh at best. seirously, no Earthbound? wat.
