I dont like how some people obsess over Syd. Some people have been known to wait outside his house and videotape him getting the mail, and going for walks. I have seen one of those videos :-/

Riva 10-27-2005 08:40 PM

It's not very nice at all. The poor guy isn't even in the public eye anymore, they should just leave him alone.

That makes me sick. People are so ignorant and and selfish.

Dr. Jake Destructo 10-27-2005 09:21 PM

I'm sure they're people who weren't even around during Syd's time in the limelight, too. That kind of makes things a bit awkward, I think.

Well, it's awkward to begin with, but meh, whatever. :p

Now that is just sad.

That actually would make your heart go out to him. :/
Guess what people!? Prepare to be bewildered because I just made an amazing discovery!

Ok, well I lent my friend a copy of Meddle, and guess what? He likes Seamus
Its actually an ok song, and if you follow my "Meddle as a concept" theory, its a very necessary song.

Meddle as a concept? Explain.

BlackDeathMetalJazz or really ANYTHING else please- 10-28-2005 09:03 AM

We discussed that theory ...
And it sucked :P with that kind of theory you could call every album a concept

Jude 10-28-2005 10:25 AM

Ehh, that theory is much to far out for me to dig.

guitarded_chuck 10-28-2005 10:26 AM

Yeah I don't think Meddle is a concept album. Just some good songs and some experimentation on to where they were headed next.

I know how you feel. Although I find it kind of hard to feel sorry for him, because he ruined his own life with all that acid...

Britton 10-28-2005 01:27 PM

It was dumb of him to do so. I'm not sorry for him
but sorry for what we missed

Kingofdudes 10-28-2005 01:40 PM
I know how you feel. Although I find it kind of hard to feel sorry for him, because he ruined his own life with all that acid...
The people he lived with spiked his coffee and other drinks with LSD without him knowing.

Britton 10-28-2005 01:41 PM

That did happen but he took alot on his own accout

thickasabrick 10-28-2005 01:44 PM

If I lived in the neighbourhood, I might walk past Syds house just to see if I could spot him....but I'm not gonna actually like travel and find his house, and then take videos of him and stuff. I would just wanna maybe see him. I'm sure no one can object to wanting to see him.

edit - I don't know if maybe it's just because the times have changed, but don't you think unknowingly dosing someone with LSD is a little extreme? Like, I smoke pot every day, but I wouldn't even go so far as to give someone like magic brownies without telling them. Who knows what could happen!

Britton 10-28-2005 01:45 PM

You live near him?

Also seeing his location as Canada may help

This is an off topic anecdote, but my first experience with drugs was when someone gave me a pot brownie without telling me it had pot in it.

If your mother died of cigarette smoking, would you not feel sorry for her?

Britton 10-28-2005 05:54 PM

No I would feel sorry for me

TheDMV 10-28-2005 09:21 PM
If your mother died of cigarette smoking, would you not feel sorry for her?
partially, but a lot of that would be because she's my mother. Any old person who dies of cigarette smoking doesn't warrant my sorrows; it's the infant who dies from second hand smoke that we should mourn for.

Britton 10-29-2005 01:51 AM

Are you kidding me?

LoL

What I mean is it's too bad that he ended up how he did but you know
what he made that choice...so no I don't feel sorry for him. It's too bad
that we got robbed but h well.

and on my mom if she were dumb enough to take acid or smoke and she died
cause of it I wouldn't feel sorry for her.

 I'm sure that was rather alarming. Where were you at?

Britton 10-29-2005 02:02 AM

What was the movie where that happened?

Riva 10-29-2005 02:24 AM

Do you really read posts, or do you just say random crap?

Riva, please quite being negative.

Britton 10-29-2005 02:53 AM

Well He's kinda right that was very random...but I was randomly replying
to a random question

Riva 10-29-2005 03:00 AM
Well He's kinda right that was very random...but I was randomly replying

Yeah, but the guy said that is was a personal experience. He mentioned nothing about a movie.

DeusExMachina 10-29-2005 12:44 PM
 I'm sure that was rather alarming. Where were you at?
School. Genetics class.

It may have been random, but it was a response to Schyma's comment. It was at least somewhat related to the topic.

I see nothing wrong with Riva's commentary.

The concept of not feeling any pity just because "he made the decision" is really cold hearted. First off, he didn't make the decision to do all of the acid. A lot of it was given to him without him realizing it. But furthermore, it should be kept in mind that a) he was young, and b) it was part of the times. A group of kids who get drunk and drive and hit a tree and becomes paralyzed from the neck down certainly brought it on themselves, but that doesn't mean they don't deserve pity. Everyone makes mistakes, and having your life ruined for those mistakes isn't a fair punishment.
