I'd say it's great. The only real problem is the weird spoken half-sun vocals.

But I mean they're named after an evil monkey so you gotta expect some luls.
The vocals kill it the most for me. That, and some of the songs are just, well, odd to me. They don't seem to flow. I'll have to go back and listen, it's been a while.

masterchaos 12-02-2007 10:59 PM

Cool. I'll buy it right now.

I happened to stumble acrossed a couple Carnal Forge songs, not too bad, but is their older stuff better?

what I had was from '04 I think

wait...Akercocke vox arent like Anaal Nak. (again spelling) are they? I love Anaal's music but I cant stand the vocals.

rattlehead42147 12-02-2007 11:11 PM

is skeletonwitch good masterchaos? i've seen you mention them a few times and i've had them on my list of bands to check out.

Tyler 12-02-2007 11:13 PM

I dont think the vocals are like AN, mostly because AN is so terrible I turned it off after two or three songs but i dont have a problem with Akercocke's vocals (other than the half-sung spoken stuff).

publicastration 12-02-2007 11:13 PM

Akercocke's harsh vocals are of the extreme low end grunt variety.

And are they really named after a monkey?

Master do you have songs from Aren't You Dead Yet? It's a pretty good album, I haven't heard their other work though.

And I consider them Thrash. :p

Tyler 12-02-2007 11:14 PM
And are they really named after a monkey?
Yup. Akercoke is an evil talking monkey in Faust.

masterchaos 12-02-2007 11:16 PM

Yeah they are. I think they have a myspace page if you want to check em out that way. (about Skeletonwitch to Rattle)

So that Akercocke album...awesome in every sense.

Seduced is simply punishing

Luc I would agree with CF being more thrash oriented too. I believe the select songs I do have are from that album

AA-12 12-02-2007 11:17 PM

simply punishing

Deth 12-02-2007 11:18 PM

I think I like Antichrist a little bit more than Words..., it seemed to refine everything just a little bit.

Invicta_Veritas 12-02-2007 11:18 PM

"simply punishing"

I wouldn't say that....

publicastration 12-02-2007 11:18 PM

I think one of my favorite Akercocke songs is Axiom.

Tyler 12-02-2007 11:19 PM
I think I like Antichrist a little bit more than Words..., it seemed to refine everything just a little bit.
I don't think Antichrist was varied enough, personally, but I get what you're saying. I want to check out another of their albums soon.

publicastration 12-02-2007 11:21 PM

^I heard some of Choronzon and I remember liking it.

rattlehead42147 12-02-2007 11:22 PM

Akercocke are painfully average i have to say.

Deth 12-02-2007 11:22 PM
I don't think Antichrist was varied enough, personally, but I get what you're saying. I want to check out another of their albums soon.
Yeah, see I thought that the variety on Words was the weakness because the more 'experimental' parts didn't flow as well. At least with Antichrist everything seemed to fit correctly.

Invicta_Veritas 12-02-2007 11:25 PM

That was kinda my issue with Words, was the flow of things....aside from the vox...

I haven't heard Antichrist...is it better?

Deth 12-02-2007 11:26 PM

Well, like it's been mentioned, it has less variety but it's more focused.

Invicta_Veritas 12-02-2007 11:27 PM

hmmm....I'll put it on the back burner then if it's not groundbreaking or anything...

masterchaos 12-02-2007 11:32 PM
"simply punishing"

I wouldn't say that....
Why? Its sounds like something ominous and dark.

And what doesnt make these guys painfully average is their dynamics.

publicastration 12-02-2007 11:45 PM

I've decided when I get in a band we're going to perform in suits like Akercocke.

AA-12 12-02-2007 11:47 PM
Akercocke are painfully average i have to say.
They were boring when I saw them. I left after a few songs.

donteatpieontuesday 12-03-2007 05:55 AM

they were crap when I saw them at festival of the dead, just not my cup of tea i suppose

VomitStainedCretin 12-03-2007 05:59 AM
Well, like it's been mentioned, it has less variety but it's more focused.
Yeah, I agree the songwriting is more refined on Antichrist; though I prefer Words. Were good when I saw them live (wearing Akercocke T-shirt right now, coincidentally).

ATM 12-03-2007 12:06 PM

Are Kataklysm any good live?
hmmm, not sure what to think of this band: http://www.myspace.com/cripplebastards
Cripple Bastards is excellent. I've loved them for a good while.

This

Tyler 12-03-2007 02:32 PM

I love how whenever you insult Kataklysm, the only thing anyone can say is, "but dude, hyperblasts!!!"

Deth 12-03-2007 02:34 PM

Well yeah. But dude, hyperblasts.

i am the robots 12-03-2007 02:35 PM

Hyperblasts are so crazy that I know like six local drummers who can play them, and three of them aren't even twenty, and one of them hanged himself.

LifeInABox 12-03-2007 02:36 PM

And that's horrible you piece of ****

i am the robots 12-03-2007 02:38 PM

Dude, I payed my respects and still honor the memory.

Aakon_Keetreh 12-03-2007 02:43 PM

lol hanging.

i am the robots 12-03-2007 02:44 PM

He was a good kid and a great drummer. :/

The kid who replaced him looks like such a tool:

Aakon_Keetreh 12-03-2007 02:45 PM

Sad.

Once knew a girl who hung herself at a playground/

she was on drugs.
