BassVirtuoso 09-29-2004 04:42 PM

I'm just preparing for when we might possibly need a new mod in like, December 2005...

twopelu 09-29-2004 04:43 PM

oh...so its quite democratic (sp?), the community rules! specially the bassist one you know.

twopelu 09-29-2004 04:45 PM

Which are the advantages of being a mod?

Wintermute 09-29-2004 04:46 PM

Last time round effectively WhoDoVooDoo made a list of suggestions, a mild debate ran for a bit, then LR just chose, and MX went with her choice.

To be honest I don't know how much effect that debate thread that was running had on it, but I know that all the prime candidates had been asked if they were willing before the thread was started, and I know I'd been told it would probably be me long before the thread had run its course.
Which are the advantages of being a mod?
When you see something that annoys you, like spam, flames, advertising and the like, you can actually do something about it. You can sticky, unsticky, close, open, delete or undelete threads or posts, you can add polls to threads, you can move threads, or merge them, you have access to the Mod Forum, you can run IP searches on people and find out what other names they've used/are using... There's quite a few things.

Oh, you can read deleted posts and so on too. Should the mood take you, you can undelete them, though I can't think of any real circumstance where you'd do that. You can also edit anyone's post, and post in closed threads.

Foxfire 09-29-2004 04:49 PM

Can anyyyyyone answer my question, or am I going to have to start a thread?

:p

Wintermute 09-29-2004 04:51 PM

No, I'm too tired, I'd make silly mistakes :):)

Saitoku 09-29-2004 04:52 PM

So do you guys have "secret mod" meetings? Like in the back of a shady warehouse to discuss top secret "mod" operations?
What's it going to be like Luke?

Lemme know what you think!

BassVirtuoso 09-29-2004 04:54 PM

The mod forum is like Paris Hiltons bedroom, everything that goes on in there is secret for a while, but the whole forum will know eventually.

FUNKNBASS 09-29-2004 04:55 PM

Another nice one Luke, keep em coming.

twopelu 09-29-2004 04:56 PM

Thats lots of work I think, then You mods are doing a really good and helpful work for the comunity eventhough sometimes somepeople complain about your role. THX ;)

Anyway, some mods seem to be a little off the forums so they are like invisible ones and its quite annoying cause sometimes things became a mess and no one helps to solve it.

Ill think mods would be better considered if they took more part in things. For that reason some mods (the usual suspects here in the forums) are better considered than others... Just my IMO.

Haha, no, we only let you know what you need to know. Some things you're better off not knowing...

Or would have no interest again.

A lot of it is suggested improvements, problem user reports, spam attack defence strategy and planned upgrades and tricks and so on.

Oh, we also get together and conspire against you, BV.

In seriousness though, you were a strong contender, so I'd not worry too much ;)

Crapdragoon 09-29-2004 05:09 PM

STOP THE PRESSES, Im here.
Heh i got my new strap today a levys 2.5 inch leather, but its shorter then my nylon strap.... now i have to play meh bass all high :upset:

EDIT: ohhh nvermind i figured it , now its as long , and more confy!!!!

GeezerRULEZ 09-29-2004 05:10 PM

My stap is super low. I look like the guy from Slipknot.

twopelu 09-29-2004 05:14 PM

I dont know why, but when I put my strap the lowest I can, I feel more agressive and with the urge of showing off, but when I put it higher I feel jazzier and more classy.

Maybe its just the stereotypes but it really happens to me.

Anybody feel the same?

Crapdragoon 09-29-2004 05:18 PM

No, i wear the bass just atop my crotch , because if i play it reall high i cant reach the first 4 frets very well.

FUNKNBASS 09-29-2004 05:32 PM

Hey crap.

I keep my bass just in front of my waist or crotch, I'm not a fan of resting my arm on my bass i like just keeping my arm hanging.

e p 09-29-2004 05:36 PM

I really liked your song Luke.

It's really edgy at times and has a good "chorus." I liked the guitar work. Is that the electric you said you were going to get?

Yar.

joe

StevoKinivo 09-29-2004 05:42 PM

I wear my bass right on my belly, i like to be able to get the higher frets really easy. when i put mine super low i feel like i play heavy metal and then i feel like a poser.

nisakss 09-29-2004 05:44 PM

I wear my bass right where my belt is, that's why the back of my basses are all scratched...

Left Shoe 09-29-2004 05:47 PM

hey everybody , how was everyones day?
i must wintermute, you suck at titling threads =P

FUNKNBASS 09-29-2004 05:48 PM

Hey Left, my day was pretty good, I was able to go home 2 hours early from work.

How was your day?

nisakss 09-29-2004 05:50 PM

I'm well, I guess.

Left Shoe 09-29-2004 05:55 PM

@funknbass, meh i have loads of hmwk and i had marching band practice till like 7 , then my dad wanted to go out and eat and i coudlnt get out of it. so now its like 8 , and im doing chemistry bleeegh, but other than that iuts pretty good , im buying my american studies teacher a goat head.

FUNKNBASS 09-29-2004 05:57 PM

Good luck with the HW. I'd go off cheering about how I'm not in school anymore and will never have HW again, but I won't.

Left Shoe 09-29-2004 06:00 PM

haha jerk, i cant wait till imt out of highschool and in college where i can concentrate on bass playing and not chemistry, though chemistry might come in handy if i need the chemical composition of a 9 string :naughty:

FUNKNBASS 09-29-2004 06:00 PM

Sorry couldn't help it.

Crapdragoon 09-29-2004 06:05 PM

Oh hi funkn , btw. :p

Left Shoe 09-29-2004 06:05 PM

you know , teaching kids chemistry with teachers they dont like is a bad idea, i know youve heard of school shootings i predict the new big thing will be "school burn your chemsitry teacher with acid....ings"
