I feel like complete ****, everything in my life is slowly breaking apart (Or so it feels) and every time I feel like I can't take it anymore I listen to the album. And at the end I feel like as bad as it feels I can take it on.

Bad Blood 04-17-2006 06:23 PM

Oh right, I won't ask for details, man.

Hope things work out for you, and AvA all the way. :thumb:

Surtr 04-17-2006 06:25 PM

Thanks..I'm thinking I might just post my review for the AvA album in here, whata' ya think? Just to see what you guys have to say on it and stuff.

Bad Blood 04-17-2006 06:27 PM

Yeah, definately. Sounds like a plan.

Surtr 04-17-2006 06:43 PM

On tour, during the confusion of Blink-182's hiatus a man had an idea. An idea
that, if the world would work with him, he could change everything. With everything falling on you, crushing you, you can still make it, you just need to believe, to hold on.

"Just before all the blink-182 shit happened when we were in Europe, I had a really weird epiphany. My heart was beating about a hundred miles a minute for three weeks straight and it had never happened to me before in my life. I really felt like I'd been touched by something and I felt I was meant to do something massive."-Tom Delonge

A soundtrack to his life, Tom Delonge created a new band. It’s members each inspired by Tom, knowing full well that he was onto something big. The album’s name says it all, We Don’t Need To Whisper. Let’s shout this to the world. Let every single person hear the message. Let everyone know what we’re about, and if they follow us, that we can change the world.

Valkyrie Missile.

"It's a flagship song for the band. It's a great introduction to what AVA's about - that something special can come out of destruction."-Delonge

This song starts off with this eerie sounding organ. And it really gives you the feeling you’ve already hit on something big. It makes you feel like your in space. And then come’s a voice, “Can you hear me out there?”

It continues to just build up from that voice. Conversation between two people over a radio. Then at 2:15 into this song you hit this part that makes you feel like your flying through this vortex. You feel like your rushing at lightspeed right at something And in comes Tom’s voice, singing “Everyone, everyone will listen.” This song really fills you full of feelings. Right away you can sense that this is going to be something amazing.

The basic idea behind this song seems to be that something’s coming at you and it means destruction. You can see it headed right at you, and there’s nothing you can do to stop it. And you know that you’ve gotta’ fight it anyways, make it through.

The last minute of this song should full out amaze you. It’s beyond words.

Distraction.

This song starts with a keyboard and a simple drum beat, and builds. Tom’s voice then comes in singing, “I’ll be your distraction.” After this you reach some of the best lyrical work on the entire album.

“There’s a field nearby
With words written in stone
My love will not die
Please let be known...

...The planes flew in
Their bombs did too
The city fell flat
The fires they grew...

...If that field nearby
Was still there to be used
Would you ever have known?
Those words were for you”

This song seems to be that the missile has hit. The problem from Valkyrie Missile has struck and you just want to be the one to distract your true love from all the pain. Everything seems to be spinning faster and faster, out of control.

It Hurts.

The title of this song is obvious. Everything is falling away from beneath you. And it hurts. Everything you’ve ever cared for is breaking off. Again, as Tom enters singing, “It hurts,” over and over you can feel it build.

The drums in this song come in and out at parts. The guitar has some cool riffs in this song also. Tom’s voice has improved too.

From this song it feels like while everything around you has fallen, your one true love has walked away. Your world is being crushed, and she walks away from you, leaving you there with nothing.

Do It For Me Now.

This song starts with a morse code sounding guitar riff, and then in come the drums. The message is being sent to your one true love. Things are bad and you need your true love. It’s a sad song without a doubt, but at the same time it’s uplifting. It makes you sad, but it still has an uplifting sound to it.

“The guitar riff makes me feel like the sun is coming over the horizon. The idea is that you're looking at this girl and everything is wrong but you know that she can make you feel like you're the only person in the universe."-Tom Delonge

At this point in the album your starting to perhaps get a little bored of it, as a lot of it sounds the same, but if you listen long enough for the next song that boredom ends.

The Adventure.

A calm beginning, that brings in a simple guitar riff. And then it builds, something this album does a lot. And then it hits you. The feeling this album is meant to give off.

And Tom comes in singing, “I wanna’ have the same last dream again, the one where I wake up and I’m alive,” which really gives off the power of this song. It makes you feel that despite how bad things are they WILL get better, all you have to do is believe.

“Hey yo, Here I am, And life’s waiting to begin..”

This song really is the idea behind the album. It’s an anthem of sorts. It’s screaming out loud the message. All you need to do is believe and this will work. And so the song ends, giving you the feeling your starting to float off.

The War.

This song has a fairly obvious meaning too. While everything is going wrong, your country goes to war. Your brother or family member joins the army. You just can’t believe that your people would do something like this. It’s just not right.

"The bodies lay black and blue, a gift from me to you,"

“The houses, laid out like targets, With the deafening sound, We watch them all go down,”

A Little’s Enough.

This song starts off with this really interesting feel to it. There’s an organ, and light drums. The idea behind this song is that what if God just came down and fixed it all. In the middle of a war, in the middle of all this coming down on you, what if god came and fixed everything? What if all god wanted from us, was to believe...And if we did believe, he’d fix it all for us. The lyrics in this song are very good too.

“Sorry I have to say it, But you look like your sad, Your smile is gone, I noticed it bad, The cure is if you let in just a little more love, I promise you this A Little’s Enough,”

Again this strongly shows the message of this album. Believe.

The Gift.

This song starts off with another space feel to it. You can picture yourself in space again. And at the chorus you can help but feel the power of this song. It’s got a strong drum beat here.

“And now, I’ll stop this storm if it rains,”

“Make the world we know disappear,”

This song really gives off the feeling that everyone is starting to realize that everything is going wrong. Everyone has seen the light, and it’s time to change the way they live.

Good Day.

This song starts off with whispering. Like something big just happened and everyone’s talking about it. And so Tom sings,

“I should have turned back, I should have known better, than to walk away defeated,”

This song is about waking up one day, and everything is good. Everything has suddenly come together. Life’s worth living again, and you don’t really know why.

This also song has the weakest and at first glance crudest line of the entire album.

“I think I like today, I think it’s good, It’s something I can’t get my head around,”

Of course if you listen to it a lot times the line slowly becomes more and more clever. It’s simple, and that’s why it seems so clever. There really doesn’t seem like a much better way to put it. You just wake up one day, and everything’s good.

Start The Machine.

Everything’s good again, so lets Start The Machine.

“I pictured being on a boat and as you're leaving a city in flames, you see a tropical island, like you're going to a beautiful place. I make references to my past in this song - 'I left the chill and voice of screams and kids and ran for shelter'. In leaving the desolation and negativity behind, you find something beautiful.”-Tom Delonge.

It’s time to put the past behind, because the future is where we’re all going, whether we like it or not. Again, this song gives off the message of the entire album.

The lyrics in this song are also really nice too, they even combine with the song “Distraction,”

“I left some words quite far from here to be a short reminder, I laid them out in stone in case they need to last forever,”

I love that line for the simple fact that it ties this whole album together. The album ends with the same piano ‘riff’ as in the beginning. The last thing you hear is what sounds like a heart beat.
____________________________________________________________
All together this album was with my first listen, a let down. But every single time I listened to it, it got better. Now I look at it as a work of art, this album is really beautiful. All you have to do to love it is do exactly what the message behind the album says. Believe.

Rapidshare is faster than megaup, so if you have a bad connection, rapid would be the way to go :thumb:

CommieCanada 04-17-2006 10:33 PM

ok so i listened to the AVA album like 12 times and i have come to the conclusion that while there is definatly a positive change of direction for Tom, none of these songs would sound too out of place on the last Blink album. Really. If you take out all the string arrangements and effects, its still blink 182. I showed The Adventure to a friend of mine and before he even heard the vocals he asked me if it was a new blink 182 song.

Now im not doggin the album, because its great, but it didnt live up to the hype that Tom gave it. its one thing to be proud of your work, but quite another to claim that you will make music history.

and dammit, this album would be so much better if Tom wasn't singing

Exactly - everything u said was true. I was really let down by the album - i mean, i thought it would be great, really great but..........it wasnt. Like the advertisments for the movie and stuff where u would here the clips of the songs made me think "Wow" this is gunna blow me away but basically they just found some nice sound effects then threw in some crappy vocals. Like for valkyrie missile - when i heard that song on the movie advertisment it sounded like it was gunna be a great song but the only difference between that clip and the actual song is that the sound effects on the song were more drug out and then there was about a minute or two of vocals that sounded like they were made up in a second - and it was pretty much like that for every song. The band depended too much on their cool sounding sound effects and didn't pay enough attention to making an actual musical masterpiece. /good video game filler music - didn't blow me away....dissapointing

- there, thats my review right there

(im still a big Tom Delongue fan tho)

Yeah...
Tom sings just fine...
No... no he doesn't. He's very pitchy, scoops to notes, and often sings through his nose. It may not have shown much during his blink era(though I'm not much of a blink fan) but AVA's atmostpheric textured music fleshes all the negitives of his voice wide out in the open.

I'll be buying it. I haven't listened to the leak, but that review convinced me that it'll probably be worth it to just go ahead and buy it.

punkrocker-182 04-17-2006 11:45 PM

Yeah i planed 2 buy the album no matter what.
and if i download the leak and hate it, im still buying the album cause im such a huge Tom fan. (and im buying the plus 44 album also).
P.S. I Just Started the download!!! :D just 12 more hours

punkrocker-182 04-18-2006 01:21 AM

7 hr. 52 min. left to go.
it seemed to have sped up.

Ross 04-18-2006 04:10 AM

Wow, I could learn all the guitar parts and vocal parts and probably buy a drum-kit from ebay and learn all the drum parts in the time it's taking you.

Unlucky.
