FUNKNBASS 09-29-2004 04:06 PM

I try to vary em as much as I can but a lot of the times I have the habit of making something similar.

Foxfire 09-29-2004 04:07 PM

Bleh I'm bassed out for today.

FUNKNBASS 09-29-2004 04:08 PM

I'll never be bassed out.

peeted 09-29-2004 04:12 PM
My songs all sound the same. :( Blehh.
Well, don't let that stop you from writing! Even if it's all the same, eventually you'll 'mess up' ... and it'll sound different!

Foxfire 09-29-2004 04:13 PM

I was bassed out sunday. REALLY bad.

I went to Guitar Center with a friend. His aunt is polish, and because of that, she listens to Techno and thus has an awesome sound system (we were using her car).

So the way to Guitar Center, we listened to Sublime's self-titled. We had the bass on the EQ full up and the doors were shaking, and one of the speakers was rattling. Next, we listened to Sex-O-Rama 2 (Porn Music); HEAVY bass grooves, good stuff. So then we got to Guitar Center. 6 people were playing Metal; my friend and I went through our normal bass testing songs; we were there for 2 hours. Then, on the way back, we listened to Pop-Punk (Lucky Boys Confusion; good stuff), followed by Hardcore Bluegrass (The <something> Family Band; also good stuff). Then we went and ate chinese food at a mall. On the way home, we listened to Rap (DMX).

So not only was I bassed out, I was also music'd out and had witnessed several cultural jumps.

The end.
I'll never be bassed out.
I don't think it would be possible for me.

Foxfire 09-29-2004 04:14 PM

Well see I don't have any knowledge of modes. At all. So I tend to stay in one scale. :( And then the variations I do end up sounding the same.
My songs all sound the same. :( Blehh.
Yeah, I have the same problem, they are all way to cool.... :amaze:  .... :upset:

Wintermute 09-29-2004 04:17 PM

Go to the Old Lessons and Articles Archive - I had no idea what modes where either until I read the lesson Coffekiller wrote.

iceman3019 09-29-2004 04:19 PM

my life at the moment is filled with massive amounts of homework . . . it rather sucks, and will, until the weekend comes around . . .

twopelu 09-29-2004 04:21 PM

Ops my pinky is really hurt cause I have been recording my entry for the comp and it involves chords and things like that.

Im being so lazy these days cause this is my last holydays week...next monday Ill be back to my studies, but Ill go to a different university. Computers engineering in La Universidad Complutense, here in Madrid.

I hope this coming course wont be as hard as the past one.

Im spending some free time working on my own built-from-scratch compression pedal, it needs lots of work but this afternoon Ive finished the main board so theres only a few things left to do, Ill post some pics of it when its finished, and some sound examples too.

FUNKNBASS 09-29-2004 04:21 PM

I dont have homework anymore cause I'm out of school, hurray.

Foxfire 09-29-2004 04:23 PM

Well see, I've gone through it and I don't particularly understand...are the modes simply variations of whichever scale?

For example...it says about the following chord progressions:

C - Ionian
F - Lydian
G - Mixolydian
Dm - Dorian

They are still in the same scale...correct? So basically, if you switch modes, you are still in whichever scale, but you're just higher (or lower) on the fretboard...yes? The modes still include C, D, E, F, G, A, B, C (if we're talking C Major), but they're just the same scale in a different place? Or am I missing the point? :p

^ Edit: I realize that's incorrect; but I still don't see how Modes are gotten? Will it be different for each scale? Or will the "root" of each mode remain the same?

:amaze: 09-29-2004 04:23 PM

I have homework ... I'll do it later. I only have a bit though ... not an overwhelming amount or anythign

:amaze:

FUNKNBASS 09-29-2004 04:24 PM

:amaze: 09-29-2004 04:26 PM

Casual 13 - Be kind to your spleen

Omega Red 09-29-2004 04:28 PM

casual 13 - holy crap look a quatre's user titlean.

Wintermute 09-29-2004 04:29 PM

Heh.. spleen

Quatre - that's getting a little daft, don't you think?

:amaze: 09-29-2004 04:29 PM

Casual 13 - I looked under my couch for change and found a crusty baked bean.
Heh.. spleen

i know, i dont plan to leave it like this

Foxfire 09-29-2004 04:30 PM

Wait! Does each mode represent a note in the scale?

Like if we do, say...A Major
A B C D E F G A

So...
Ionian root = A
Dorian root = B
Phrygian root = C
Lydian root = D
Mixolydian root = E
Aeolian root = F
Lochrian root = G

Will modes start in the same general area, regardless of scale? Like, will the modes still "start" in the same places as the ones indicated in CK's lesson if I was using a, say, Bb Blues scale?

:amaze: 09-29-2004 04:33 PM

Casual 13 - Luke19Boarder is colorblond so he doesn't correctly see the colors red and green. (true story).

:amaze:

Foxfire 09-29-2004 04:33 PM

And sorry for being on the topic of bass, I know how much you hate talking about them...

;)

FUNKNBASS 09-29-2004 04:38 PM

Hey BV how do you get elected for/vote for a mod?

Saitoku 09-29-2004 04:39 PM

Casual 13 - Long live the Queen!

Foxfire 09-29-2004 04:40 PM
Hey BV how do you get elected for/vote for a mod?
When a mod goes missing, they try to find a new one.

FUNKNBASS 09-29-2004 04:41 PM

I guess you've got my "vote" BV, at least untill I know who wants to be mod also.

twopelu 09-29-2004 04:42 PM

Im not sure about who is mod or not and how that things works...its quite misterious...

FUNKNBASS 09-29-2004 04:42 PM

Thanks e p and Fox for the info.
