Iggy and the Stooges have been making me laugh recently.

I saw them on TV perform at Glastonbury and they got like 150 people on stage, the security had no idea what to do. Everyone was going mental, it looked amazing.

and then this was on a TV Chat show the other day...

It's so funny because nobody in the audience gives a ****, and they are all just staring at him.

Bukowski 06-24-2007 06:39 AM

Iggy and Ron Asheton are cool as hell, judging by the interview. Thanks for posting that.

Nice to see Mike Watt playing, as well.

br3ad_man 06-24-2007 06:50 AM

Iggy was pretty cool when I saw them. I think he got tired because he's old though, because he lay down on the stage for one of the songs.

Bukowski 06-25-2007 08:34 AM

I'm seeing Deerhoof tonight. I have a feeling they won't be that good live, though.

perriwinkle 06-25-2007 08:41 AM

my friend went to one of their shows, it was the only show he's ever left early

Bukowski 06-25-2007 08:47 AM

I'm trying to drum up some excitement here, perriwinkle. You're crushing me.

tbh, I kind of regret buying the ticket because I don't really like Deerhoof that much.

perriwinkle 06-25-2007 08:49 AM

you didnt let me finish

he left early because it was so good he shat his pants

if tickets <= $15 then who cares i'd go

Bukowski 06-25-2007 08:51 AM

Oh.

Well that's good.

perriwinkle 06-25-2007 08:54 AM

yeah hey do you have Dysrhythmia - Barriers and Passages?

Boilermaker 06-25-2007 08:54 AM

If you have iTunes, their's a free Kill Rock Stars blog that had a Deerhoof performance. I thought it looks like a great show. That being said, I'm a big Deerhoof fan so I'm a bit biased.

Bukowski 06-25-2007 08:58 AM
yeah hey do you have Dysrhythmia - Barriers and Passages?
I only have Pretest. Pretty good album.

I don't use iTunes, I had an old version on my computer and it was really slow and crappy so I got rid of it. I might look up some videos on youtube. The only Deerhoof album I really enjoy though, is Apple O'.

perriwinkle 06-25-2007 09:00 AM

i havent heard Pretest so i dont know how to relate them but Barriers in Passages is sweet and i know youre one for noise / math / breakdowns / feedback n stuff

Bukowski 06-25-2007 09:03 AM

Can you upload that? I'll put up Pretest on the mailing list, as well.

Concubine 06-25-2007 09:07 AM

They were cool when I saw them, but they were opening for Radiohead. The audience was in shock when they played Gore in Rut.

br3ad_man 06-25-2007 10:00 PM

Deerhoof were excellent when I saw them. Really, really good.

Album is pretty bad. Like a bad Arctopus.

Glitterati 06-25-2007 11:14 PM

Nowadays I just listen to Sandstorm in my room on repeat.

ATM 06-25-2007 11:20 PM

DaRuDe

Bukowski 06-26-2007 09:01 AM

Deerhoof were amazing.

Seriously, and they're all really cool, and funny people as well. Especially Greg Saunier, who is such an excellent drummer. For such a mathy, spastic sounding band, they have amazing control over what they do onstage. The support band were phenomenal as well, they were called Holy Fuck. I'd never heard them before but I'll definitely be getting something now. It was a fairly small venue, totally packed (it sold out), and the whole crowd were really gettin into it. Just a totally enjoyable show overall.

Boilermaker 06-26-2007 09:04 AM

Yea, the drummer looked awesome in the videos I've seen of them.

Bukowski 06-26-2007 09:11 AM

Yeah, when you see them play you can really dig the way he holds all the stop/start madness of Deerhoof's music together, even though he himself is going nuts.

He reminded me of Don Caballero's drummer when I saw Don Cab live. Really off-kilter, crazy drumming, and some really weird and funny anecdotes between the songs as well.
