I agree, but the first four are classic.

ATM 04-08-2008 12:10 PM

I was reliving the glory of Fairies Wear Boots today. I need to re-learn that on guitar.

gmoneyguy 04-08-2008 12:11 PM

Ancient Dreams Rocks my socks, hard. Epicus is a close second.

Nostalgia 04-08-2008 12:22 PM

How can you like Ancient Dreams more than Nightfall? Ancient Dreams, to me, is much less doomier, has worse production, and doesn't showcase Messiah's best vocal performance.

Nightfall will always be Messiah's best, but that's not to say Ancient Dreams doesn't have great tracks. Epistle No. 81 is one of my favorite Candlemass songs.

gmoneyguy 04-08-2008 12:24 PM

It is less doomier, but overall I think the album flows as whole really well. Not mention some of the riffs are absolutely fantastic.

agreed, Ancient Dreams sounds like a rehashed Nightfall to me in a way, although I still think it's a great album.

Nostalgia 04-08-2008 12:45 PM

The production on Ancient Dreams doesn't make sense to me. Nightfall has superb production (vocally and instrumentally) and the production on Ancient Dreams is thin, Messiah's vocals don't sound as they should, and it almost has a minor "tin can" sound to me.

The album sounds much better through speakers, but forget listening to it with headphones.

gmoneyguy 04-08-2008 12:48 PM

I've only listened to it through speakers.

rattlehead42147 04-08-2008 12:54 PM

I've only listened to it through headphones tbh.

FatalEnergy 04-08-2008 01:34 PM

No one ever talks about Tales of Creation, which is also a superb album.

pate 04-08-2008 01:37 PM

Agreed.

Into the Unfathomed tower is incredible

The prohecy sets up the mood for that album right from the start and it has Under the Oak on it, which is a Candlemass classic imo.

FatalEnergy 04-08-2008 11:46 PM

Is Asphyx (Hol) worth checking out?

Always been a fan of Martin Van Drunen's vocals

Apocalyptic Raids 04-08-2008 11:50 PM

yeah, get The Rack

FatalEnergy 04-08-2008 11:51 PM

I've already got a rack.

Your mom's

lolololololololol

EDIT: This album is killer.

pate 04-09-2008 06:50 AM

Yes, Asphyx is worthwhile.

rasputin 04-09-2008 07:07 AM

So yeah, got myself an EP by a band called Doomthrone, and it totally sucks.

Shattered_Future 04-09-2008 01:27 PM

On the other hand, the new Mar De Grises is absolutely fantabulous.

the2stranger 04-09-2008 01:34 PM

You've found a leak?

I was just looking up some information about Mar De Grises on M-A.
Coincedence? I think not!

How's the CD like?

Shattered_Future 04-09-2008 01:36 PM

It's very atmospheric...almost has a bit of a post rock vibe, yet a lot more depressing. I never really listened to the first CD, so I couldn't compare, but I really like this one.

EDIT: Just repped you the link. :thumb:

ATM 04-09-2008 01:53 PM

Colour Haze live, probably the tightest, most atmospheric stoner band around at the moment!

What I'd give to see these guys play live :(

Eliminator 04-09-2008 02:24 PM

colour haze rule

Tyr 04-09-2008 02:30 PM

Indeed they do. Too bad that I only haveTempel.

masscows 04-09-2008 06:10 PM

negrodamus 04-10-2008 04:43 PM

Are The Sword any good? They're playing a show close by and im considering going if they're good.

Nostalgia 04-10-2008 04:44 PM

Really, really bad. I think Josh is the only person who likes them here.

gmoneyguy 04-10-2008 04:49 PM

Acid King, y/n?
