I can play a little piano. I want to get way better, I just don't have the time at the moment.

It took me a lot of work to learn to play guitar after switching from bass. I had to learn to use a pick, had to learn all these chords, different tuning, entirely different style of playing.

gaslight 03-05-2010 01:55 AM

Everyone serious about learning music should play a bit of piano.

I don't find guitar hugely different to bass, though it is annoying getting used to that B string when you're used to just fourths between strings.

I love writing on it and coming up with chords and things, the only gay thing is that there's noone I know who I'd want to play bass in my band if I were playing guitar, it'd be incredibly strange for me, that situation.

Sorry I couldn't resist :(

gaslight 03-05-2010 02:38 AM

When's the whole album coming out?

Does mean you're taking time out from your band.

Sablate McNuff 03-05-2010 08:02 AM
I wouldn't mind one either.

I'm good for now for guitar amps though, I have a nice little Blackstar combo. My only gripe is that it doesn't have onboard reverb. I'll recruit a few pedals and things for fun though that'll still cost a pretty penny.
I wish I had a guitar amp. Currently I have a Crate Power Block for recording purposes, but no cab to go with it.

Yet again, I've purchased the BFM guitar cab plans and I'll be building it once I've taken care of the other build stuff I have going on.

gaslight 03-05-2010 08:34 AM

Sooner or later man.

I played guitar for like, 4 years before I got an amp, haha.
Sooner or later man.

The worst part is, I sold both of my guitar amps because I couldn't warrant having them, and I planned on selling my guitars too.

Well, the guitars were my uncle's and even though the amps were too, I just cannot bring myself to sell any of the guitars. Lately I've wanted to do more recording with guitar, and I wish I'd kept one of the amps. *sigh*

In other news, I just had the most disgusting donut ever. Regular donut, chocolate on top, sprinkled with nuts. That's all fine and dandy, but when I bit into it, it was filled with PEANUT BUTTER. What is up with Americans and this fascination for peanut butter and chocolate? It is probably one of the most putrid combinations on the planet.

gaslight 03-05-2010 08:50 AM

Oh god. That's just awful man.

My favourite donut is the jam donut, or the cinnamon.

I like lemon-filled donuts.

I like cake donuts.

I like powdered donuts.

I pretty much will eat any donut, but I draw the line at peanut butter.

gaslight 03-05-2010 08:59 AM

Peanut butter is only really welcome one place, and that's on toast or on bread.

Efrim 03-05-2010 09:02 AM

Peanut butter is a vile substance, and has no place anywhere.

funkyhoney 03-05-2010 10:51 AM

I agree.

FunkMetalBass 03-05-2010 11:29 AM

I think Peanut Butter is the American Vegemite.

I tried a peanut butter bacon sandwich the other day, and I was actually surprised by how edible it was. Apparently they're quite popular in the Midwest.

Spaceman Spiff 03-05-2010 12:06 PM

Peanut butter is sweet, but it doesn't belong just anywhere.

Peanut butter and banana sandwich is delicious.

Convectuoso 03-05-2010 12:57 PM

^Finally. Someone that ****ing agrees with me on that subject.

With a lot of tweaking and getting know the program...

Guitar Rig 3 is your friend.

Wtf? Not in this midwest. Why would you eat that?

Also.... what's going on MX?

About peanut butter and banana? It's one of the few ways I will eat the stuff.
Wtf? Not in this midwest. Why would you eat that?

Maybe it's popular in the midwest if your state's name doesn't start with an I or an M.

Efrim 03-06-2010 07:08 PM

My professor basically put near-unidentifiable passages from lecture slides on the test, rather than passages from the major works that we studied. I knew one, and knew the author of the other one, but nothing else about it.

Epidemechanical 03-06-2010 08:37 PM

why do you douche bags do nothing but post

go listen to my electro epic song

GO

funkyhoney 03-07-2010 03:41 AM

So yeah, just test rode the bike I'm now certain that I'm going to buy. Sweet Jesus.

Efrim 03-07-2010 07:59 AM

funkyhoney 03-07-2010 08:23 AM

Of course. Think I'm gonna use my legs for movement like a sucker?

Efrim 03-07-2010 09:30 AM

This sucker doesn't have to spend money on gas and insurance.

funkyhoney 03-07-2010 10:10 AM

Gas? Hahaha, I love how you call petrol gas. What do you call heating gas? i.e. propane?

Of course when I say "gas" I mean "geeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeessss." With a proper offensive twang.

More an American jab.

There's some snobby NA guy who comes through my work (local bottle shop in a dodgy suburb) and expects us to be his slaves. i.e. get anything and everything for him, swipe his card for him, etc.

He just throws his AMEX at you and lets out a sigh.

The point of this story is that every time any of us refuse to do things for him for whatever reason it may be he winds off into a story about how "people yooooost toooo poomp yooor geeesss for yeeeww."

Stuff in your car's tank = gas.
Stuff in your stove (not as common as electricity these days) = gas.
Stuff in your intestine that is especially prevalent after eating bean-laden Mexican food = gas.

FunkMetalBass 03-08-2010 09:03 AM

I want a Baritone guitar, man. I think I'm going to try to sell my Ibanez and buy an Agile 2800 LP-style baritone.

In other news, the gold EMG 81/60's that I ordered should be in today, so I can put those in my Epi Les Paul and have a more beastly guitar that will make my guitarist's tone look like pure bullpoop.

Gas for cars is short for gasoline.

Heating gas is also known as natural gas.
