That would seriously make me a very happy man. Haha, now you have me excited thinking about that.

That was aimed at the Opeth/ Tool tour thing.

Futuro 06-30-2005 10:44 PM

meshugga was ok live, but everything was overshadowed by how much emotion tool puts into it live.

There is always hope for this kinda thing to happen :) , let us hope that Tool find some interest in these Swedes though haha.

Dr. Jake Destructo 06-30-2005 10:47 PM

Yeah, Thomas Haake of Meshuggah was one of the guest drummers on Triad. Danny and Tomas are both freaking insane drummers.

I think if Opeth took Porcupine Tree along with them on the Tool tour, that would be the best thing to ever happen to me. :D I mean, can you imagine if they played on stage together? All of those musically ingenious minds..Steve Wilson, Mikael Akerfeldt and well, all of Tool on stage...That would pretty much make my lifetime worth living right there.

Lateralias- Meshuggah is from Sweden as well. Either that or some other part of Scandinavia.

Darkness 06-30-2005 10:50 PM

They are from Sweden.

Lateralias 06-30-2005 10:51 PM

Ah yes that's true.. I'm sure someone in Tool like's Opeth though.. I could see Adam being a fan for some reason.

Futuro 06-30-2005 10:53 PM

at the sundome show i went to, during eulogy there was a wierd break in the song where adam did ambient pick scrapes and maynard was saying something that sounded like "kill the truck drivers" it was really wierd thay made it like 10 minutes (over exaggerating)

meshuggas drummer did cool stuff on the rotos during triad (detune while playing with one hand) he really messed those drumheads up i think :D

Lateralias 06-30-2005 10:56 PM

"Kill the truck drivers" huh?... that's very odd... maybe Maynard was in arsehole mode and decided to steam off his hate for truckers..

Guys, I think the Tool thread is the largest official thread. amirite?

Darkness 06-30-2005 10:59 PM

Yeah that is weird...

And no, the Metallica one is double the size.

Lateralias 06-30-2005 11:01 PM

meh.. totally forgot bout Metallica for a sec...

Dr. Jake Destructo 06-30-2005 11:02 PM

The Classic rock one is sort of an official thread, so it would be the biggest, but technically, Metallica's owns this one by abouy 12k. Oh well, we have the coolest community. :D

PeEpHoLe_10 06-30-2005 11:03 PM
Ah yes that's true.. I'm sure someone in Tool like's Opeth though.. I could see Adam being a fan for some reason.
Yeah i could imagine Tool being up for a tour with Opeth. But im not sure about Opeth though. I read a small thing not long ago and Mikael was complaining about how there are no good new metal bands around today an rah rah rah.
Although he does like all that obscure prog stuff from the 70's, so he could be into Tool.

Darkness 06-30-2005 11:03 PM

At least we own the slipknot thread, just like how Tool > Slipknot. :D

Futuro 06-30-2005 11:04 PM

it was more or less a whispering sound that came off in my ears as kill the truck drivers, he was probably saying nothing like it but, nevertheless it was rather odd.

listen too the song from about 5:15 and thats where they added some stuff, instead of going into "standing above the crowd" he started whispering something, then like sometime later he finally said that line.....really wierd

herbalH.erb 06-30-2005 11:04 PM

lolol i was misteriously banned. o well. Jake wat am gonna do is jsut play along with the cd cause i cant find ur track :)

Darkness 06-30-2005 11:05 PM

Probably all that talk about you being high, and the masterbating thing...

Hope I dont' get banned for saything that word...

herbalH.erb 06-30-2005 11:08 PM

a yeah it was out of line, wont happen again I guess.

2 posts, pathetic

Maybe he was referring to the metal bands around in Scandanavia or Europe.. Mikael has directly said in an interview that he'd love to tour with Tool, as he is a fan.

Futuro 06-30-2005 11:09 PM

damn im a slow typer, by the time i finished writin that eulogy thing we were talking bout something else....sorry bout that.

Dr. Jake Destructo 06-30-2005 11:09 PM

Oh! Marshall you reminded me- Ok, everyone listen to the end of Parabola. Can someone tell my why the hell there are frogs ribbiting/crickets chirping?

I was bewildered by this one day.

Dried Muffin Remnants 06-30-2005 11:12 PM

It's just Tool being Goth Primus. (listen to Disgustipated)

"We hear the cries of the carrots"

Futuro 06-30-2005 11:12 PM

i heard that before somewhere...i cant remember what site i read that off.

Darkness 06-30-2005 11:13 PM

What???? frogs? crickets??? Parabola?!?!

Lateralias 06-30-2005 11:13 PM

I thought the same thing too. Maybe it's just represnting that we should celebrate this "chance to be alive and breathing" with-... you know what.. I really have no idea. Seems random to me also.. it is a bit relaxing though.

Dr. Jake Destructo 06-30-2005 11:16 PM

I can't beleive I never noticed it until I read it on Toolnavy.. That's where you most likely saw it, Marshall. I mean, once it's pointed out to you, it's extremely obvious. I love that about Tool though. I've listened to Lateralus probably over 100 times, but I'm still discovering little nuances about it.

Lateralus is a pretty layered album... with songs like Reflection it just seems so hard not to fall into a trance when listening to it for me.

Futuro 06-30-2005 11:19 PM
I've listened to Lateralus probably over 100 times, but I'm still discovering little nuances about it.
*GASP* and you call yourself a tool fan JK :p

Dr. Jake Destructo 06-30-2005 11:26 PM

Yeah, Disposition almost killed me one time. I was driving, and I had a rough day. I just got through with this girl(She was such a bitch!! Now we're friends) and I had Lateralus in my truck's cd player. Disposition came on, and I just became so totally enveloped in the atmosphere that when I finally pulled out of the trance, I was about to veer off the highway into a telephone pole.

It was worth it though.

Marshall- Check your user control panel and tell me if you see large orange text.

Dried Muffin Remnants 06-30-2005 11:29 PM
I just got through with this girl(She was such a bitch!! Now we're friends)
So where'd you end up dumping her body?

Edit: The "now we're friends" ruined it. :upset:

Haha I hope my favorite CD never kills me once I get my license :upset:

Futuro 06-30-2005 11:33 PM

what the hell, is that ??? the orange stuff??? me is confused

One Groovin Clown 06-30-2005 11:33 PM

same thing happens to me, everytime i listen to disposition, i will completely trance out and seperate myself from my surroundings. It's almost like my own sanctuary so to speak. I love that song.

Lateralias 06-30-2005 11:35 PM

If I start Disposition.. I can't stop listening til' it's gone all the way through and done with Triad.. those three tracks just connect so well and have a awesome atmosphere.

BlindWriting 06-30-2005 11:36 PM

The first time I listened to Lateralus and heard Disposition, all I could think was, god this is an amazing band.

Even though it's impossible for me to pick favorites, especially with Tool...:
Disposition > Triad > Reflection

Darkness 06-30-2005 11:37 PM

They are awesome as a hole, but IMO they go in order of there goodness. Dis > Ref > Triad. I have to be in the right mood for Reflection, but when I am its the best one, but I can listen to Disposition anytime. Triad, although has some good drumming and a cool guitar solo is a little boring...

completely. Sometimes it can happen at a bad time, especailly if i'm in the middle of a class. I won't be able to concentrate on my work at hand untill they're all done. Sets me back a tad.

Futuro 06-30-2005 11:39 PM

JAKE!!!!! what is this orange writing mean??

HELLO!!!!
marshall = confused :confused:

herbalH.erb 06-30-2005 11:43 PM

I ve been singing tool all day on the mic. . . its teh ****

Jake dont ignore me! says ok or something
So where'd you end up dumping her body?

 Heh, I actually held the whole breakup thing against her for a long time, then one day I was like 'wtf, this is dumb. I've obviously moved on, so why am I pissed at her?'
Haha I hope my favorite CD never kills me once I get my license
However, if I were to die, I would choose to go out listening to that album for sure.
what the hell, is that ??? the orange stuff??? me is confused
Um..what orange juice? :-/

EDIT: Oh, welcome to the rep system. :)

Herb- ok or something. Sounds like a plan.

Dried Muffin Remnants 06-30-2005 11:44 PM

Dis, Ref, and Triad are NOT anything special in terms of the studio versions. They really are quite simple. Now Triad live is fvcking orgasmic.
