Oh right, I thought the constitution was set in stone.
My bad.
It's been not set in stone since the beginning, by the addition of the ammendment process. But there's a medium you have to find between changing with the necessity of the time's culture and just completely changing everything on a whim because it seems necessary at the time. Besides, judicial decisions are made with quite a lot of room for interpretation, which compensates for cultural time boundaries.
It's something our professor keeps bringing up. Without close-ups, it's harder to connect with the main characters. And he just dismisses it saying, "I'm not feeling the close-ups."
Sounds like an Indie-obsessionist hippie to me! :)

(Believe me when I say that...my best friend is one)

Steerpike 01-10-2006 07:57 PM
It doesn't help that folks like 50 Cent make the whole idea of getting shot on the streets an attractive subject, or at least one that's condoned by virtue of the culture's unquenchable appetite for similar tales of "thughood."
This is also the tendency of society to romanticize the "Bad boys." We've done it to pirates, highwaymen, cowboys, etc.

Fiddy is just another chapter in the story, and will be promptly forgotten because there's absolutely nothing about him worth remembering.

No, he's just muleheaded and opinionated. He's my friend and all, but I really think he needs to ease up a bit with people. He calls me naive for believing that animals have any place in the world other than his dinner plate.

Sleepy 01-10-2006 07:59 PM
We've done it to pirates
Pirates > Thugs

EDIT: @ Steerpike

Then drop the hippie part, I suppose. Just tell him to ease up on his opinions. My best friend used to not listen to any band with a record label.

I've tried. But he's a libertarian. Talking to them is like talking to a brick wall.

Aye, that's a b!tch.

At least my friend is only a Democrat. If you try hard enough, you can get them to listen :p

Steerpike 01-10-2006 08:27 PM

You're talking to a dirty liberal, just so you know. :p

'Twas a joke, my friend. I R Moderate :) Yay for not creating political tension and conflict. I find it all a bit fickle, anyway.

What was up with posting in that simple plan thread? You should know better.

Steerpike 01-10-2006 09:20 PM

I needed a good laugh. When I saw people actually buying into the crap, though, I knew it was time to insist the thread be left for dead before the mods show up.

It is rather ridiculous some of the comments people make in seriousness. No one gets it's a gimmick and then there's the obligatory give dim3bag props d00d u suk major remarks

Tyler 01-10-2006 09:25 PM

That guy is an idiot. Not only is his name ridiculous (and has poor grammar), but his posts are all that stupid.

Alright, for the first time since I joined this site, I actually made a thread that seems to be surviving on its own!

Am I the only one who's noticed the disproportianate number of ill-conceived threads lately?

Aye, the Pit is trying to take over R&M...:(

But that's okay because we can have a huge Viking-metal fueled battle against the flamers! Crank the Amon Amarth! CHARGE!!!

Heh, I noticed it's a lot easier for me to post in here recently.

kurrpt 01-11-2006 10:20 AM

im gonna trade in my JEM for a mesa triple rectifier today

what u guys think?

Bartender 01-11-2006 10:27 AM

I'm supposed to do writing an essay, along with revising for an exam, both for Friday. I've spent roughly the last two hours 'writing my essay', in which time I've actually listened to My Sharona several times over, brushed my teeth for an extended period, and read about my University and the Russell Group and the fact that I am apparently a member of the Aldwych Group. The essay isn't going well.

Mr. Black 01-11-2006 10:28 AM

Anuything by Mesa is worth it.

Hey all.

kurrpt 01-11-2006 10:43 AM

i have a Mark IV, but it needs work, and i want to sell it

I've noticed it. It's really disappointing. These threads about claiming how awesome awful bands are is not funny, but they don't seem to let up.

Oh, and what's WP?

Seems Good.

kurrpt 01-11-2006 11:56 AM

...so they told me to bring it in. Apparenlty the manager was very interested, so maybe i could get some free sh!t thrown in on the trade

me = happy camper :D

Steerpike 01-11-2006 12:06 PM

Has anyone else around here ever listened to Nekromantix? I wish I'd found this band sooner.
