Lots and lots of Electric Wizard. Mostly the first 3 albums, but a little bit of everything overall.

And also Dead Meadow. Shivering King and Others and Feathers. I needs to get me some more of their albums.

I actually got into Rage Against the Machine again, it's kind of odd but I'm really liking Renegades and the Self titled right now. How I Could Just Kill a Man is pretty amazing and most of the riffs are really fun to learn on guitar.

JonM 12-13-2005 11:45 AM

You should learn "Killing In The Name." That's one of the most fun songs I ever learned, but I haven't played it in probably four years, and I don't remember it all now. I know it's in drop D though.

TalkingHead 12-13-2005 01:46 PM

Thee Silver Mount Revees - Live In Paris
(Spanking fresh new material, and it's amazing. AMSZ never sounded better. Their new cd will rule everything)

Jose Gonzalez - Veneer
(Devendra Banhart without the freaky bits. If you like Sun Kil Moon you will love this)

World's End Girlfriend - The Lie Lay Land

and thanks to JonM's avy, I'm currently listening to Matisyahu - Live At Stubbs and recalling how great that man was when I saw him live.

How are you liking that one?

Blonde Redhead - misery is a butterfly
Soul Coughing - Irresistible Bliss
A Perfect Circle - Emotive
The Prize Fighter Inferno - Inventing the Scene

I've had it for a long time.

It's a great album. I usually don't like things like it, but it's such a group of solid songs. Plus his voice is fantastic.

I havn't played any 'riff rock' on guitar in ages so it's kind of refreshing to play this stuff.

Meh, the Cypress Hill version was just fine. But RATM has the best riffs ever, and they're always doubled by the bass so they're fun for me to learn as well. Know Your Enemy = the best riff ever.

Yay yay yay yay yay yay yay yay yay yay

Every time I hear that album for the rest of my life, and it will be many times, I will remember this semester in vivid detail.

I wasn't diggin' it a whole lot at first, but last night I put it on before falling asleep. It worked much better in that situation. Dig+.

But there wasn't much dig on the Cripple Crow I put on right after that, other than a few songs. Methinks I need to check out some more of his older stuff.

You'll most likely feel that way about the whole record soon enough.

In my case, remove the word "pretty" and replace it with "really."
You'll most likely feel that way about the whole record soon enough.
I think so. I think I'll just put it on repeat for the rest of the afternoon.

I think NR and RitH are far and away the best, but that doesn't mean I don't love all the other things, CC included.

His cd with Xiu Xiu is interesting.

I've finally sat down and listend to Gary Wilson. My jaw has hit the ground and I can't scoop it back up. I'd like to. But I can't.

Thats right.

Yeah Gary Wilson is great.

David Thomas And Foreigners - Bay City

I need to get something by T. Rex soon. I've only heard Bang A Gong, and everyone loves that song.

Parfait 12-13-2005 09:32 PM

Electric Warrior makes plenty of fun.

I listened to a lot of Bill Evans today, because of Robert Crumb.

asymm 12-14-2005 12:45 AM

Mogwai - Mr. Beast (Found a high quality leak)
- Quite good. Definitely different than Happy Songs... I'm enjoying the dynamics and the heightened use of electronics/vocals (surprised?).

Love Is All - 9 Times That Same Song
- I'm not actually enjoying this. It's mediocre at best.
