I'm watching Team America right now. God this movie is funny.

lunch998 05-20-2005 07:38 PM

I'm about to go watch Super Troopers. That movie is so great.

Dancin' Man 05-20-2005 07:47 PM

I'm about to go watch A Clockwork Orange. I finished the book and so now it's time to watch the movie and trash it for not being as good, whether or not that is true.

RiceMonster 05-20-2005 07:52 PM

Has anyone else noticed the decline in R&M lately? There seems to be a lack of good threads.

Or maybe I'm just getting bored of R&M/MX.

lunch998 05-20-2005 07:53 PM

Books make all movies depressing and not as entertaining.

I only post in two threads, so it hasn't really effected me.

Haha, I didn't get it at first, but that's classic.

I read the book, and I really want to see the movie. Be sure to give us a full scene by scene review.

Illmatic 05-20-2005 08:16 PM

Well, I won't be going to Chicago in June.

I may cry.

Riva 05-20-2005 08:17 PM

Haha, I just got a phone call, and it was from some company. This is what happened:

/me picks up phone
/me hears slight disturbance, and a tape clicking on

Phone:
"It's Sunday the 27th May--",

Me:"No, it isn't"

Phone:"--and you have been lucky enough to be selected to play Australia's favourite phone game"

/me hangs up

Also, I got a phone call from my dad, who has nearly finished the 22 footer that he got commissioned to build, so I might be seeing him again soon.

Illmatic 05-20-2005 08:19 PM

22-footer = boat? Cool.

Also, I have to mention that A) 1960 is far different from 2008 and B) The 1960 election was kind of fishy (nothing against JFK)

lunch998 05-20-2005 08:25 PM

Women voted for him after the televised debate because he looked good.

Best. Book. Ever.
Best. Book. Ever.
I'm going to second that. Every page of that book is genius.

jpj 05-20-2005 08:35 PM

Even the naked supreme court justices?

lunch998 05-20-2005 08:35 PM

This is true.

"The Roman's greatest contribution to society: Inventing a number system allowing people to easily keep track of Super Bowls."
I'm going to second that. Every page of that book is genius.
I usually end up on the floor laughing after reading any segment.

ATM 05-20-2005 08:38 PM

I've flipped through that book.

The Daily Show is one of the few things on TV worth watching.

Illmatic 05-20-2005 08:39 PM
Even the naked supreme court justices?
Well, except that part.

It's hard to pick one favorite part, I just recently stumbled on the Presidential Nicknames section.

"Nixon was a 'tricky' political opponent. Also, he was a dick."

"Legend has it, a woman went up to Calvin Coolidge at a party and said, 'I bet I can get you to say more than three words', to which Coolidge wittily replied, 'fuck you.'"
The best one, though is the explanation for Millard Fillmore's nickname.

Also, what does everyone here think of Godspeed You Black Emperor? I'd upload some tracks, but it'd be a hassle cause they're all 20 minutes long.

Endless Obsession 05-20-2005 09:24 PM

Just got back from my bands first gig ever. We had a 30 minute slot and our setlist was.

Lamb of God - Omerta
Killswitch Engage - Rose of Sharyn
Metallica - For Whom the Bell Tol'ls
Killswitch Engage - End of Heartache
Our Original song.

CaptainWaits 05-20-2005 09:52 PM

Wow. I just looked at the member count, and I saw that it dropped down to about 69000 members. How long ago was it when the other 40000 got deleted??

Dancin' Man 05-20-2005 09:56 PM

No idea.

I can honestly say, I prefer the book of A Clockwork Orange to the movie. Kubrick made a bad film. The camera work is uninspired and boring, the sets are completely made up and have little reflection on what is in the book and important scenes were omitted, including the resolution which is the best part of the book. I guess that's how movies are meant to be.

Ray - Godspeed get a big plus from me. f#a# (infinity symbol) is an amazing album and pure genious. Their side projects are also very cool, for the most part.

Jom 05-20-2005 10:27 PM

Mudvayne's playing on Conan tonight

Shut the hell up, I'm looking forward to it.

And it's true, Jon Stewart is a funny guy... and that book is hilarious.

Illmatic 05-20-2005 10:28 PM

Wasn't a big fan of the movie, didn't read the book.

DM: Raise Yr Skinny Fists Like Antennas To Heaven is better than f#a#, IMO

Wowza, AH stopped by.

ATM 05-20-2005 10:30 PM

I love Godspeed. Very cool band.

So tomorow I'm going to this thing called John's Walk. My friend has Cistic Fibrosis, and John was his brother. He died from the same disease my friend has, and they haven't found a cure yet. We all get together and raise money for research.

The disease doesn't hinder his life, though. He played varsity soccer with me, etc.

Illmatic 05-20-2005 10:33 PM

What is cistic fibrosis?

Dancin' Man 05-20-2005 10:34 PM

Hmmm interesting. My brother has MS (multiple sclirosis) and it's already affected him physically. Now that he's on meds and such, he's fine but still, being diagnosed with a disease like that at such a young age would be terrible, not only because of what it is but also because you have to be able to afford to maintain your care and geting medical coverage with a condition like that is quite hard unless you already had it before you were diagnosed.

ATM 05-20-2005 10:35 PM

It's a lung disease.

He gets all of this mucus stuck in his lungs, and it makes it hard for him to breathe.

He has to put on this vest every morning then vibrates and breaks it all up. Also he has to go into the hospital for like 2-3 weeks every few months.

Both of his little brothers have the disease, as well.

Illmatic 05-20-2005 10:38 PM

Dang, that's gotta be harsh.

My uncle (one of my mom's brothers) has a bad heart...he recently had surgery to put a pacemaker on his heart that would regulate his heartbeat if it reached X amount of beats per minute...it's gone off like, five times in the past week.

My uncle Ray (my dad's older brother and the person I'm named after) also had a bad heart and died undergoing surgery in 1998.

Jon Stewart is awesome. I saw him do some stand up comedy, it was near pants-peeing funny. Err, also like that like show and such...

lol mudvayne lol
