hey does everyone get the general idea of The Wall because i get i explain it to them, they still dont know, and so i will be telling them forever what it means and i jsut wanted to know if anyone else is lost by the movie

TheDMV 10-22-2005 09:31 PM

I have heard only the tiniest parts of The Division Bell, but it seemed very solid. I think it's going to be one of the next albums I get from PF

Agreed. I don't much like Zeppelin, live or recorded.

The Wall.

Here's what I got from it, judging from the movie and lyrics.

The Wall starts out with In The Flesh. This is.. Well something that gets explained later in the story.

Second song would be Mother, this is basically stating that there a little kid invovled.. I suppose. As the story goes on, the boy (Pink), his father gets killed in a war. He grows up without a father, so he learns a lot of things a father normally shows a child, the hard way. He grows up to lead a cult. At the end of the story, he is caught, and prosecuted. (The Trial) and then "The Wall" which is a fictional wall, of course, is torn down.

The Wall that Pink builds a long the way is a shelter.. Because he can't come to terms with his past. Like a boy who was molested or whatever, he's fk'd up basically, so he hides his feelings.

magicbus 10-22-2005 09:43 PM

I listened to The Division Bell all the way through today, it's pretty cool. Gilmour really shines on this album, and his tone is perfect. I think I'll get it next.

thats what i got out of it, but mostly like if u "build bricks" around ppl u learn that way and u will start building around others and thats how he became leader of the cult

Well, according to the move (if I remember correctly) the cult and rioting happens after the "trial", I think that it's him mentally putting his past enemies (schoolteacher, wife, etc.) on trial in his mind. Does he die in the rioting?

DeusExMachina 10-22-2005 10:18 PM

No, the trial is the very end. The only thing after the trial is people, (particularly the little kids) picking up the pieces of the broken wall.

Lunch 10-22-2005 10:19 PM

No, the riots are before the Trial.

rockinbass17 10-22-2005 10:24 PM

Maybe I just have a really bad memory. And it isn't the most clear story in the world. So is it just open ended after the Trial?

hippiemusic101 10-22-2005 10:29 PM

i need to rewatch it also, and rocky horror picture show

Britton 10-22-2005 11:20 PM

I want to go to amstredam

I've heard from friends that it's tons of fun

DeusExMachina 10-23-2005 02:15 PM

Are we allowed to put a YSI link on MX if we're performing a song by another band? I just found a dinky old mic, so I decided to record Is There Anybody Out There? Only one take, so it's not great, but I'm happy with it for what it is.

Awesome.

There it is. Not very good, but not terrible. At the end my mom asked me if I was playing guitar, so that's what that little tidbit at the end is.

hippiemusic101 10-23-2005 03:56 PM

Woah Nice Job!!!

standard 10-23-2005 03:58 PM

Nice. I used to be able to play all of it... Now I can only play parts, sounds dumb eh?

You play it real smooth though, nice!

hippiemusic101 10-23-2005 04:01 PM

Dried Muffin Remnants 10-23-2005 04:17 PM

I LOVE Live in Pompeii. Not only the music, but the camera-work is spectacular.

Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun was breath-taking.

Kingofdudes 10-23-2005 04:23 PM

Im whoring pics of the wall DVD in a few minutes
can u play stairway to Heaven???
I used to be able to. I haven't played it in many months, so I don't know if I can still. I'll see later.

Thanks for all the good words on that recording.

LAP is definitely awesome. Some people don't like the CG bits with the planets and stuff, but I think it's cool. But the best is probably just the band walking around the volcanic bits, without their instruments. I just think that part was cool.
