Heavenseeker is pretty freakin' terrible, I think. The songs aren't as good, and it's overproduced to the point where it makes everything sound godawful.

Cover art is bitchin' though.

Carsten's voice and Lorenz' drumming improved quite a bit on [I]Heavenseeker[/I], but yeah, in general the songs aren't as good. I think the reason the sound is so overproduced is because the band themselves had a huge say in the mixing of the album, and they really spent more time than is necessary tweaking it. Though I do enjoy the thrashier sound they came up with.

The first 2 tracks I really like. After that, not so much...

Carsten's lyrics on Burden of Grief are terrible though. :-/ Maybe they got twisted going from German to English, but "put my anger back on the shelf". Wtf mate?

I didn't notice the lyrics. Oh well...

I'm quite into power metal lyrics. Which is why Lost Horizon kick arse.

Well that sucks. I have listened to a couple of Heed songs and they are no where as good as Lost Horizon

Gamma Ray - Somewhere Out In Space is so damn awesome for headbanging to. My stars.

As I was reading that last post Gamma Ray came up in shuffle. It's Land of the Free in my case, but regardless of that, much headbanging has begun.

Has anyone heard Armageddon? I have come to the conclusion that Chris Amott is much better off in Arch Enemy where he doesn't have to write songs. Even his lead playing has become a little stale to me after listening to a couple of his albums.

Black Sun is a good album. i havent heard their new ones but they have the highest ratings on RYM

Yeah, I could never get into Avantasia one bit. I love Edguy, but they go completely over the top.
