I could understand 21+ shows, but 18+ doesn't seem to have a point at all. Unless you could smoke your *** off, which you can't do in NYC anymore anyways.

That isn't how it works...

Usually age restricted shows have to do with liquor licenses but you can't drink at 18 in the US anyways. Can you smoke at 18? Then it'd make sense, even though you cant smoke in bars

18 is legal adult age in the US, I imagine it has something to do with legally giving consent in some way or something

It has to do with some bull that some doctor pulled out of his *** about alcohol stunting brain growth that occurs between 18 and 21. That's the reason I hear the most, at least. I think it's more likely because 18 year olds usually have friends aged 14-17 so it would be very easy for them to get alcohol for their underage friends. With 21 year olds however, if they're getting alcohol for underage people they're going to be 18-20 anyways.

Although, if you're under 18 and can't get alcohol anywhere you aren't looking at all.

More likely it has to do with the tobacco industry being as big as it is. They should both be 21 or both be 18.

Curfew goes until age 18 in most places. Usually 18+ shows go until 3 am, while all ages shows have to end by midnight.

I've never heard that rule, it must be state by state. I've only been to like 2 or 3 shows that didn't go past midnight.
