i'd love to see a Blaze era live show, the only live Blaze i've seen is where the guy spits on him, so i'd love to see him prove himself
There is at least one live song with Blaze on it on Visions of the Beast. I think he managed Afraid to Shoot Strangers quite well.
]oh, and what is the 'fear of the dark' album like? i cant find any reviews, or copys of it anywhere..not even in my local virgin's insane store of Maiden albums. argh! i only ask because 'fear of the dark' rocked as a track
It's a good album, it has a few weak tracks. But overall its a very underrated album.
It's a good album, it has a few weak tracks. But overall its a very underrated album.
i personally think its one of the weaker maiden albums

Josh 08-24-2005 02:58 PM

i really like Fear of the Dark, IMO the title track is a bit weak as a studio version though.

ashman 08-24-2005 02:59 PM

FOTD (song) is far superior live. But which version is best? Rock in Rio, A real live dead one or the other one?

crag 08-24-2005 03:01 PM

i like RiR, all maiden's songs are so much better with the trio :)

Josh 08-24-2005 03:01 PM

i only have FOTD as RiR one, although on Monday i should have the Death on the Road version :D

rhcp pman 08-24-2005 04:15 PM

I started playing bass using the strumming style of guitar. Then I learned to slap and pop. I only decided to try finger walking on the bass about a few days ago and prefer to use 2 fingers (for now). Since Maiden is my 2nd fav band, Steve Harris' basslines were the obvious ones for me to practise. What do you guys think the best Maiden bassline would be for getting into finger walking. So far, I've learnt some of Phantom of the Opera and I think I can play it up to speed, but it could do with more practice.

ashman 08-24-2005 04:47 PM

Try infinite dreams, it's IMO one of the hardest to play (The first half, the second half is easy)

the_uber_penguin 08-24-2005 05:06 PM

I thought Death On The Road (or as it shall henceforth be known...DotR...I know how much you guys like your acronyms) came out August 30th.

Rising 08-24-2005 05:12 PM

i just got ''Iron Maiden : Edward the great''
its a compilation

fear in the dark RIR
and can i play with madness \m/
all songs are good, but those are my personal favorites

29th in the UK, 30th in the US, because stuff is released on a Tuesday here, as opposed to Monday.

Well, that's good; another maiden fan. I personally don't like that album though, it's their most popular songs, not their best.
is that this week's Kerrang you're talking about? there was an interview with Bruce last week, but i couldn't be bothered to buy the mag just for that.

i think the next DVD should do Powerslave ----> Fear of the Dark as well (and with a full World Slavery Tour show on it) , then you get a Blaze DVD and then a Reunion DVD.
yea, the one on reading/leeds preview and with a free cd in it.
Watched the Rock In Rio DVD last night.

All I can say is...wow. The band has so much energy for a bunch of 40-50 year olds (I'm estimating), and their setlist was superb. So much energy, so much greatness...definately worth the 20 bucks I paid for it.
Yeah I have that dvd too and they do have a lot of live energy on that dvd, and in every concert they perform at. I love it when they do fear of the dark.

Deth 08-25-2005 02:26 PM

While you're at Leeds I'll be at home from school because of a stupid hurricane.

Arrakakaka 08-25-2005 03:00 PM

Yeah Sack-Man, you find that from a live video? I get your usertitle too.

Josh 08-25-2005 03:03 PM

thanks, i was browsing the maiden bulletin boards and someone linked to it, thats what Bruce wears for the Trooper on this tour :thumb:. i had to resize it using publisher and pasting into paint though, as i don't have a decent image editor.
i'm listening to all the songs they played on the European leg of their tour at the moment, preparing for tomorrow...

Deth 08-25-2005 03:24 PM

Ewww...Running Free...

Josh 08-25-2005 03:25 PM

running free is one of my favourite maiden songs...

Arrakakaka 08-25-2005 03:25 PM

I want to see a live video of that one Maiden show where Sharon and her drones ruined. Does anyone have videos? I know about the audio clips, but I want to see this.

Huber 08-25-2005 03:28 PM
I want to see a live video of that one Maiden show where Sharon and her drones ruined. Does anyone have videos? I know about the audio clips, but I want to see this.
I hope there's a video of it somewhere. I was there, it was really great to watch Bruce go crazy on them and the band just outclass them in general.

Josh 08-25-2005 03:29 PM

so effectively this was all started on maiden for no reason, ie before bruce had even mentioned Sharon?

Huber 08-25-2005 03:42 PM
so effectively this was all started on maiden for no reason, ie before bruce had even mentioned Sharon?
Basically. The only possible thing that he could have said before it all was the whole "You wont see Iron Maiden on MTV or reality shows!" which he had every right to claim proudly.

Dread_rocker 08-25-2005 03:46 PM

Yeah Maiden got inducted in the Kerrang Hall Of Fame!!!!
