my mum did once. She went home and on the way home you have to cross the railtracks - she was thinking about something and was that deep in her own "mind" that she hadn't heard the train. If the car behind her, wouldn't honk, my mum would be dead now... this was about 2months ago.
Even my mum cannot explain this properly, but it is possible.
