I guess Pelican would be Post-Metal, right?
Yeah, Pelican is post metal.

I used to have my post rock folder separate from my post metal one - in fact, my post metal one was in a subfolder of Doom & Atmospheric Metal.

Recently I've just combined post rock and post metal in a folder together, on the same level as rock, metal and jazz etc. When music becomes atmospheric, it transcends genres, and there's no denying that many so called 'post rock' bands can become rather heavy at times. TBH, it's better to keep them together.
If nobody answered this, I will.
If somebody did, I still will.

'Speed Garage' is a part of 'Antennas'. I was asked what the favourite GY!BE song of mine was, and I said 'Speed Garage'. And then I found out.. YOU KNOW!

Oh, and post-rock kicks ***.
oh yes i found that out long ago after downloading their disco ; thanks . I love that song man.i still think Speed Garage sounded better than that part of Antennas though.

i though eits new album was pretty good too. i like the first and last track ; keyboards really make a difference

and i cant believe the album leaf is coming down to singapore.

no propellers 01-14-2007 03:31 PM

anyone have any links to post-rock or post-metal torrents?
anything besides:
ASMZ
DMST
EITS
GY!BE
Isis
Jaga Jazzist
Jesu
Mogwai
Pelican
Red Sparowes
Sigur Ros
Slint
Tortoise

and I have Talk Talk's It's My Life, but I find it far from post-rock.

EDIT: I bought my tickets already to see EITS in Detroit march 26th

Eliminator 01-14-2007 04:46 PM

get Laughing Stock by talk talk

Kyle 01-14-2007 06:21 PM

Listening to & Yet & Yet by DMST right now, it's really tight.

Kayetan 01-14-2007 06:31 PM

I don't get how Goodbye Enemy Airship, the Landlord Is Dead isn't considered dmst's best album by far. I like their other stuff and all, but that album is amazing. Some consider it their weakest album though.

Txus - Bark Psychosis, Slint, Talk Talk, Tortoise, I think all are first wave post rock.
Yes, but the Durutti Column too, imo.
I agree. How can you think Sigur Ros is boring and yet like Mogwai?
Sigur Ros has just always been ambient noise to me while Mogwai are more structured so to say.

Concubine 01-15-2007 09:55 AM
Someone suggest to me some heavy post-rock bands, with vocals, that mainly used guitars and chordyness to create their songs.

Bands that are quite removed from what post-rock actually is, post-rock meets plain rock.
Anyone? :(.
