Hey guys, I'm looking to get into metal/metalcore. Pretty wide but just give me the best bands/albums of the different kinds of genre's. At the moment I'm really liking Killswitch Engage, Slipknot, Metallica, Black Sabbath, As I Lay Dying ect.

Thanks!

Well I don't know much metalcore, but by those bands you'd probably like Lamb of God. Check out the songs Laid to Rest, 11th Hour, and Hourglass. What Metallica do you like?

bloddyn 02-25-2005 09:59 PM

Could someone reccomend something like....a cross between Metallica, Megadeth, and Slayer as long as the lyrics arent just screaming id probly like it

Anthrax, check out the songs Among the Living, Caught in a Mosh, and Efilnikufesin (NFL)

Testament, check out Into the Pit, Disciples of the Watch, Practice What You Preach, and Sins of Omission

Exodus, check out Piranha, Toxic Waltz, Tempo of the ****ed, and A Lesson in Violence.

suicidal dreams 02-25-2005 10:39 PM

I like most of Metallica, Load, Reload and St. Anger are kinda $#!%, but apart from that I've liked all I've heard and I own the black album which is rad. I'll check out Lamb of God, oh and I've downloaded Follow The Reaper by Children Of Bodom which is great too.

Thanks dude, anybody else got any more suggestions?

Everything Mathias said, and: Death Angel (similar to Anthrax) and Overkill (the best of Thrash bands, and it should be a good "go-between" of those bands)
Can somebody recommend me some bands similar to Amorphis
I dont know why but when I listen to Amorphis (I recently got into them) the first band to come to my mind is Demigod but you're probably already familiar with them.

PepsiMetal 02-27-2005 01:03 AM

Can someone recommend me some slower softer music. I dont want something acoustic, but songs like nothing else matters, one (excluding distrortion and other stuff), Lord of the rings, iced earth - reaching the end, stairway to heaven, fear of the dark (slower part), etc.

Lies. The latest album, Demigod, is absolutely amazing blackened death metal. I'm not too familiar with their black metal material, but I can recommend good songs from their more recent releases:

Xul
Heru Ra Ha
As Above, So Below
The Act of Rebellion
The Alchemist's Dream
Conquer All
Horns Ov Baphomet

I agree that Slaughter of the Soul is At the Gates' best.

Dark_Horse_335 02-28-2005 08:11 PM

This is very broad but if i could only buy one album, ONE, what would it be? i'm probably going to have most of the ones mentioned though. what should i buy from the last, say, 15 years then.
