The first time I heard DSOTM, I only liked Time, Us and Them, and Brain Damage. I hated Great Gig in the Sky. That hate actually lasted for like 2 months, even after DSOTM had really grown on me and Pink Floyd had become one of my favorite bands. I love it now though.
Where I live Money is the most popular song by PF, and pretty much the only known song,DSOTM is the only PF album to most here.

Yeah I never really liked Dark Side of the Moon till I got a good live version of it.

BigTrav415 01-10-2006 07:42 PM

Lucifer Sam is an awesome song. For some reason I always write little things on the walls and desks at my school, like "That cat's something I can't explain". Actually, today on my Algebra II desk, someone had writ "Society is a loaded weapon", and below it I writ "Happiness is a warm gun"
I'll always love the time I was with some friends from Scouts ansd we were driving down to the Anapolis football stadium for a Navy game with DSOTM on. I'd never listened to it all the way through And once GGItS came on, UH! I was just amazed at the quality of the music.
I think this calls for a quality "GO NAP!".

Ok, I'm out. Sorry about that.

Kingofdudes 01-10-2006 08:22 PM

No AMLOR love for "One Slip"? :-(

I really like that song.

MidnightRider 01-10-2006 08:39 PM

I didn't like DSOTM too much when I first got it, my dad bought it for me. I listened only to Us and Them for months, before I realized how good Time was.

pigonthewing82 01-10-2006 08:45 PM

I don't really like Money that much off the album for some reason, but I love it live. The way the guitar solo is constructed leaves it open for a lot of really good jamming and fills. Some of Pink Floyds best jams are on live bootlegs I have of them doing it

Bazarov 01-10-2006 08:45 PM

Time is my favorite song on DSotM. But anyways, I got Meddle today, and I just can't stop listening to Fearless. This is a very good album.

MidnightRider 01-10-2006 09:01 PM

My favorite song on Meddle is A Pillow of Winds, I always listen to it at night before I go to bed. Great imagery.

I really want Meddle. I'm hopefully going to get all PF albums if I can muster up the cash though.

BigTrav415 01-10-2006 09:07 PM

All of Meddle is great, Seamus is not a bad song to me. I just wish they had cut back on some of the dog barking. It's good in moderation, but it just a little too much in the song. Fearless and A Pillow Of Winds has some of the best slide guitar ever, and both are amazing songs. Fearless has such good lyrics, if I could choose one song to use as my senior quote, I think it would be Fearless.

Yes, it is a very beautiful and awesome song.

Yeah, when I listened to first I skipped because of the dog, but I've already given it a second chance, and it's alright.

NP: Pink Floyd - A Pillow Of Winds

Ever heard of Ozric Tentacles?

Every night?

Once a couple years ago there was this girl I was in love with and "Our song" was sweet child o mine and I listened to it every night for like a whole year

BigTrav415 01-10-2006 10:38 PM

Hey Britton, your usertitle doesn't make sense without the avatar.

Well, I'm almost done with Fahrenheit 451. What an amazing book. Just thought I'd mention that.

Bazarov 01-10-2006 11:17 PM

I read that book back in Fresman year of highschool, I was the only person who liked it.

I think I'll have to buy The Final Cut pretty soon. Or Live at Pompeii.

MetallifuX 01-10-2006 11:52 PM

i got DSotM abit more than a year ago and it was kind of a spontaniuos purchase as i had heard of floyd but never really listend to it...
And when i got it i was bloody amazed...........

Try listening to the whole album cranked on earphones and riding a bike around, it feels like a crazy journey....

The Final Cut is pretty hit or miss, though. If you do happen to like it, then definitely buy Roger Water's solo album Amused To Death

Jim 01-11-2006 04:27 AM
But anyways, I got Meddle today
I got it a couple of weeks ago and what can I say? The only song I could say I really don't like is Seamus. Just seems kinda lame and unnecessary. But who knows, it'll probably grow on me as every other Floyd song I didn't like has! In fact, the songs that grow on you are the ones that you end up liking for longer I've found.

Anyways, Fearless is seriously cool (with the eery crowd chanting at the end) and we all know Echoes is the shit. I'll listen to the whole album again and again until I love it to death.

clown_phobia 01-11-2006 06:35 AM

What have you heard about gilmours upcoming solo album?

standard! 01-11-2006 01:52 PM

That he will be touring for it, even in the US.. and it will be an amazing album. He had a recording video on his site for x-mas, but took it off.. it was an AMAZING blues jam.

temporary 01-11-2006 01:58 PM
Time used to be my favorite on DSOTM, but now it's probably Us and Them.
Time is still my favorite, although The Great Gig in the Sky and Us and Them are godly tracks. I love Rick's piano solo on Us and Them. But Gilmour's guitar work on Time and Waters brilliant lyrics (not to mention Gilmour and Wright's great vocals) really outshined everything on the album.

Deconstruction 01-11-2006 01:59 PM

I saw one of his older ones at my local store, but didnt buy it because I wanted Animals on Vinyl more. Anyone here have it?

MidnightRider 01-11-2006 02:54 PM
