Clever. I like it. I actually proposed an idea just like that in my AP Environmental science class to the teacher. The only problem is that burning humans WOULD create a ton of environmental problems because of the smoke.....

My idea is that you amend the constitution so that you can punish all prisoners. You take them all and put them into a large gym sized room with 10 foot in diameter pillar in the center of the room. The pillar would have spokes coming off of it so that the prisoners could push this large pillar. The pillar would have a plate connected to it (the plate would be below the gym) and it would rotate while the prisoners pushed it, over another immobile plate. Now, you would have to borrow and adapt some of the technology in the Peltier system (which should be in your cars air conditioning within the next 20 or so years), but the result would be pollution free energy. You could run the prisoners in 8 hour shifts.....

EDIT: I think I proposed the burning idea when we were talking about how humans use up too many resources and create too much waste....

You would still have to feed them though. We could solve the food crisis by boiling down all the old people into food stock and then feed them to the prisoners.
