Does it have a teleportation function on it or something? Jesus Christ...
It does. mp3/wma playback?

I can't afford an iPod:upset:

I tried to sing some hardcore songs once, my dad came up beside me and looked disgusted:p
My discman is mean :( The screen doesn't work much and it sometimes won't turn on...I want an iPod.
The R&M discussion thread is dead as a really dead thing, and I don't want to kill yours too..but you don't want an iPod. If you get an mp3 player (which I'd say is a good idea), get a better one :)

Wanker 10-30-2004 08:30 PM

Yeah, some people tell me that iPods aren't worth it. There are definitely better MP3 players out there.

Happymeal 10-30-2004 08:37 PM

Like what?

I'm loving that explodingdog site, it's so cute.

Are minidisc players any good?

Well_Respected_Man 10-30-2004 08:48 PM
Are minidisc players any good?
I have it one, it's okay for now. I usually just have the songs I'm diggin on it and listen to it on the way to school. It's gets annoying having to download/delete on your minidisc whenever you want to add new stuff though.

Iris 10-30-2004 08:54 PM

I wonder whats going to happen to CDs with all of this new technology and such.

br3ad_man 10-30-2004 08:55 PM

Ok, so why don't I want an iPod? What's so bad about them?

Well_Respected_Man 10-30-2004 08:57 PM

Try looking around a bit more, my brother told my Sony was better and it has a longer battery life, but overall I'm not to sure.
Ok, so why don't I want an iPod? What's so bad about them?
The success of the iPod is something that really is a mystery to me. I've just about come to terms with the fact that the best music is almost always overlooked in favour of lower-quality, easier to digest stuff..but electronic appliances should be different.

I can only speak for England, but for a start, iPods are more expensive, and for the extra money, you get less storage space (in stores, I could get a 20GB iPod for £50 or more more than a 60GB Creative mp3player), as well as notorious battery/technical problems. The iPod has literally nothing going for it compared to the iRiver iHP-140 (40GB, dictaphone, radio) or Creative Zen Extra (60GB, and from experience I know Creative is reliable)..except the name.

Medopalis has the right idea

Bartender 10-30-2004 09:10 PM

Disclaimer: I'm not employed by iRiver, Rio, Creative, or any mp3 player-producing companies, despite how much I pimp them in opposition to the iPod. I just don't think they should get away with it on the basis of being the "in" make.

Wanker 10-30-2004 09:11 PM

How expensive are we talking about with those Creative Zen Extras and iRiver iHP-140s, Bartender?

Bartender 10-30-2004 09:13 PM

Depends where you order them from. To be honest I don't actually know where you live :-/

Amazon UK sells the Zen for £250. www.advancedmp3players.co.uk says they can beat any price, but rather confusingly they don't beat Amazon's.

Wanker 10-30-2004 09:15 PM

Crap, that link doesn't go anywhere. But I'll search for them. Thanks.

Bartender 10-30-2004 09:15 PM

My computer tells me 3:12am, but the clock in the kitchen says 4:00am. MX and my watch agree on 3:12, though.

Bartender 10-30-2004 09:17 PM
Crap, that link doesn't go anywhere. But I'll search for them. Thanks.
For some reason, links to sites outside MX seems to try to take you to www.musicianforums.com/forums/www.advancedmp3players.co.uk, which I think is why it's not working. Try copying or typing the address into your browser?
Crap, that link doesn't go anywhere.
Just put in http:// first:)

br3ad_man 10-30-2004 09:22 PM

You guys stay up late :(

RIPJoeStrummer 10-30-2004 09:24 PM

Yeah really, I'd be tired if I was up that late.

/going to bed right now at 12:23

br3ad_man 10-30-2004 09:27 PM

The latest I go to bed is 11:30. I hate staying up late, you feel like crap when you get up.

Tapeworm 10-30-2004 09:35 PM

I usually stay up till like 3, but I only ever work in the afternoons, so it's good. Nighttime is my friend.

br3ad_man 10-30-2004 09:36 PM
I just can't sleep for some reason tonight, although I normally go to bed about 1 or so.

*will feel like crap tomorrow*
I'd die if I did that.

Bartender 10-30-2004 09:38 PM

I usually go to bed around 12:30..just not on weekends/holidays. I always seem to be tired no matter what time I get to bed, so I don't think about it too much.

Tomahawk 10-30-2004 09:45 PM

I'm never in bed before midnight. And I loves sleeping in.

Iris 10-30-2004 10:07 PM

On weekends I usually fall asleep around 2:00AM, and during the week, as much as I try not too, I end up falling asleep around midnight.

Well_Respected_Man 10-30-2004 10:16 PM

Wow, it's only 11:12 here.

Happymeal 10-30-2004 10:17 PM

Time to move the clock back an hour!

Well_Respected_Man 10-30-2004 10:19 PM

ha, I didn't know it was daylight's savings until a couple of hours ago.

Iris 10-30-2004 10:26 PM

I didn't know until just now, then again I didnt even know it was Halloween this weekend until a few days ago.
