Get it right Jess, it doesn't count since it wasn't in a sweaty little club.

Though there were ****loads of drunk people.

Drunk people are fun.
do you still like punk?

Brain Toad 07-30-2006 03:23 PM

Drunk people are funny when they aren't constantly around you, but then they start getting really annoying. Especially when they crowd ****.

And I like some punk, look at my last.fm top ten, top 4 bands are punk, plus a few others on the top 10.

sketchyjoe 07-30-2006 03:26 PM

If you can't beat 'em, join 'em.
If you can't beat 'em, join 'em.
Exactly!

Brain Toad 07-30-2006 03:28 PM

Drunk people spend a good amount of money, that's enough of beating them for me.

Our first customer of the night was drunk (at 5, before the bar was even open) and spent about $15 on cars.

faith and fiction 07-30-2006 03:51 PM

Being drunk and hungry is a bad combo, I always end up going to like Burger King and spending 10 dollars on the value menu.

sketchyjoe 07-30-2006 03:53 PM

Kebabs are the ultimate post-pub food.

faith and fiction 07-30-2006 03:54 PM

It's all about Rodeo Burgers.

Even Brits have to appreciate a burger topped with onion rings, bacon, and bbq sauce.

Chicken Doner in Naan Bread with a fuckload of salad, onion, ketchup and garlic mayonnaise.

The Rodeo Burgers here are way too small. You need at least four to even make a dent in serious munchies.

This is true...but they're only a dollar so it's still an awesome deal.

I love pumping my heart full of cheap cholesterol.
Last night I went to an insane car show that went from 5 PM to Midnight at a hotel. It was the type of car show that attracts that tattoo covered, pompadour-sporting rockabillys and psychobillys. The car show was outside in a hotel parking lot, the vendors (what I was) were inside in a tiny ballroom, with the two wet bars and the band. Said bands played about 4 feet away from our table. It was really ****ing loud, needless to say, when the bands started playing, we stopped selling.

These three bands played:
Moonshine: http://www.myspace.com/moonshine32
Who were pretty decent. Their lead singer had a 40 of Corona that was nearly gone and it was obvious he was drunk. Their bassist was really fun to watch and sung a lot better then the lead singer. They covered Folsom Prison Blues and did a decent job

1/4 Mile Comb: http://www.myspace.com/quartermilecombo
The band was really good, the guitarist was very Luther Perkins sounding, but the singer really ****ing sucked. About this time is when all the people from outside were heading in, so there was some dancing and more drunk people.

The Pendletons: http://www.myspace.com/thependletons
They were decent, but their second guitarist/singer was really bad and all of their mics were turned up too loud. And when the second guitarist/singer started playing harmonica, I thought some glass was going to break. They kind of had a Beatle-ish sound going for awhile, and even covered One After 909. But at 11 after being up there since 4:30-5:00 and being in front of those loud-*** bands all the day, the last thing you really want to hear is really loud music and be surronded by drunks.

We packed our stuff while they played and left at a little after midnight.

The hotel was absolutely trashed. I doubt they will be having them back next year unless they made a whole lot of money on beer sales. I'd do the show again, but bring earplugs and hope not to be stuck in too tiny of a room next to a really loud band.
Dammit, how come California always gets cool carshows with cool Rockabilly bands.

faith and fiction: Rodeo burgers are so shitty for you.... Yet so gloriously delicious...

That's because there's a scene for it. Hot rodding is still alive here. Lots of car clubs scattered around the bay area and socal.

pedro durruti 07-30-2006 06:33 PM

Is that Larry David?

Glitterati 07-30-2006 06:45 PM

Psychobilly/rockabilly people are so cool. I was in Ottawa last month and my cousins took me to see this swing band called Big Bad Voodoo Daddy who were really awesome and kinda like Brian Setzer and there was this guy near the front who had like a pompadour and western shirt with a red neckerchief who looked exactly like Brian Setzer.

Rodeo Burgers are amazing, there used to be one near my shrink's office, and sometimes my mom would take me there after appointments. So good.

It's like how Kid Frost is always in East LA.

Liebensaft 07-30-2006 09:30 PM

I'm home! The lost Chappelle episode tonight was disappointing.

Danger Bird 07-30-2006 09:31 PM

Hopefully I can get around 1/2 of pot for $95 for a three day trip to Banks lake.

Liebensaft 07-30-2006 09:33 PM

1/2 as in a half-ounce? That's pretty expensive. I could probably get a half for about $70.

AIRIC 07-30-2006 11:06 PM

I smoked 4 bowls of blue lotus about an hour ago. It was okay. Kind of gay because I barely feel anything.
